In what seems to be a great betrayal, a medical practitioner, Dr Iyk Maduba has allegedly been swindled by his own blood brother, Chizoba Maduba, who sold the doctor’s land for N12m in Lagos State, western Nigeria.

Chizoba allegedly forged Iyk’s land documents and conspired with three other suspects, Emmanuel Adebayo, Ikechukwu Iwuoha and Moruf Olarewaju and sold the land for N12m and shared the money.

The incident happened at Okeafa area in Ejigbo, Lagos where the property was located.

Following the scam, the police arrested the suspects involved and charged them before Ejigbo Magistrates’ court with conspiracy, forgery and stealing.

According to the police, Iyk acquired the landed property some years ago and entrusted it to Chizoba’s care pending when he will be ready to develop the land.

Unknown to Iyk, Chizoba arranged with the other suspects and forged documents for the land and sold it to a buyer.

When Iyk was eventually ready to develop the land, he asked Chizoba to take him to the land to assess it before he would commence work.

When they got there, Iyk discovered that a structure had been erected on the land.

When he confronted the person building on the land, he told him that he bought the land from Chizoba and presented the documents to that effect.

Chizoba who was also present confirmed that he actually sold the land to the builder and explained to Iyk that he did not tell him because he might not allow the land to be sold.

Chizoba also explained to Iyk that he had equally used the money from the sale of the land to solve his personal problem.

He handed him to the police where he implicated other suspects who were also rounded up for prosecution.

When they were arraigned, they pleaded not guilty.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs J. O. E. Adeyemi granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

They were remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when they will perfect their bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 11 December, 2015.

NBA star and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant says he has decided to retire after this season.

The 37-year-old Bryant made the announcement in a post on The Players' Tribune on Sunday.
The decision was not totally unexpected, given that Bryant has said many times in recent weeks that he was considering making his 20th NBA season his last.

There's no more wondering now.
After two decades, two Olympic gold medals, five championship rings, 17 All-Star selections, an 81-point game that ranks as the second-best in NBA history and more than 32,000 points, Bryant's career is officially winding down.
He said this last season was all 'I have left to give', in an open letter to the sport he posted on The Players' Tribune.

'I can't love you obsessively for much longer,' Bryant said in the letter titled 'Dear Basketball'.
'My heart can take the pounding, my mind can handle the grind, but my body knows it's time to say goodbye.'
He wrote: 'I'm ready to let you go. I want you to know now, so we both can savour every moment we have left together. The good and the bad.'

'We have given each other all that we have.'
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, in a statement released moments after Bryant's news surfaced, called the Lakers guard one of the greatest players in the game.

'Whether competing in the Finals or hoisting jump shots after midnight in an empty gym, Kobe has an unconditional love for the game,' said Silver.
'I join Kobe's millions of fans around the world in congratulating him on an outstanding NBA career and thank him for so many thrilling memories.'

The 37-year-old also revealed that basketball icon Michael Jordan was one of the first people to hear the news during a conversion the pair had during the summer.
He added: '[Jordan] is actually one of the first people that I told over the summer. We've been in frequent contact.'

'We had some laughs, went back and forth about it. But the important thing for him, he said, "Just enjoy it. No matter what, just enjoy it. Don't let anybody take that away from you, no matter what happens, good or bad. Enjoy it, man.'''

Bryant has appeared in 17 All-Star games, was named the Most Valuable Player for the 2007-08 regular season and landed MVP honours in the 2009 and 2010 Finals when he led the Lakers to consecutive championships.
He has scored more than 32,000 points, including an 81-point game that is the second best in NBA history, and has two Olympic gold medals to his name.
He ranks only behind Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Karl Malone on the NBA All-Time Points Leader ranking.

Anna Ebiere will not like this, like wise Sandra Okagbue. Yesterday at Phyno’s concert, Phynofest in Onitsha, singer Chidinma and Flavour performed their popular collabo song, Ololufe and locked a kiss at the end of the performance. Now get this right, according to those who were at the concert, and ofcourse according to the photo already circulating, that was not just a stage kiss. Look at the photo well and see the way Flavour went deep and ofcourse Chidinma doing the LongThroatThing by raising her head so high so she could meet his LIPS.

Like I said, Anna and Sandra will not like this. They definitely don’t wanna have another baby mama. Or could the case of Chidinma just be that of Annie Idibia the true love?

The children of a celebrated artiste in Akwa Ibom known as Artist Ite buried him in an amazing casket last weekend.

A facebook user, Emmanuel Emmanuel Udoh who was at the burial shared the photos on his facebook page and the post has now gone viral.
Today I was at the Burial ceremony of one of the greatest artists to come out of the south south to pay my last respect.
Indeed he left a big shoe to be filled. A great artist and sculpture.
This masterpiece casket was done by 2 of his kids who took after him. Both great graduates of Fine Arts!

Some hoodlums started a street fight on Olorogun Street, Odo Eran, in the Itire area of Lagos State on Tuesday, during which a 21-year-old stabbed a landlord, identified as Alawu Lateef, to death.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Lateef, who was a father of three, had intervened in the fight, and asked the hoodlums to leave the area, when one of them, identified as Lati Elepo , stabbed the landlord.

It was gathered that the father of three slumped, while residents arrested Elepo before he could escape with the other hoodlums. The matter was said to have been reported at the Itire Police Division.

Our correspondent learnt that the hoodlums, numbering six boys, had come from Osindero Street to meet one Balogun, who they claimed owed them about N30,000.

It was learnt that when the hoodlums did not meet Balogun at home, they started to make trouble on the street.
The landlord, Lateef, who worked as a panel beater, was said to have asked
Elepo to leave the area with his gang members. The hoodlum, however, stabbed him in the chest.

Friends and family members rushed the landlord to a private hospital in the area, from where he was referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, where he was confirmed dead.
His corpse was afterwards brought to the Itire division.

When PUNCH Metro visited the area, one of his neighbours, who identified himself simply as Rashidi, said Lateef did not have any business with the miscreants, but only tried to pacify them when Elepo stabbed him on the chest.

Rashidi added that Elepo and two other suspects were arrested by the police.
He said, “It was at about 11am when these boys from Osindero stormed our street. They are teenagers. They are not cultists. They said Balogun owed them N30,000 which they must collect from him.

“Lateef did not want such commotion on the street. So, he came out to caution them to take things calmly. The one who stabbed him was drunk.

“While Lateef spoke with them, the suspect went to a shop of an artisan who sharpens knives and other metals, grabbed about three knives and stabbed Lateef on the chest. Resident arrested him and dragged him to the police station while other hoodlums ran away.”

The landlord’s wife was said to be too distraught to talk with PUNCH Metro as of the time of visit.

Another neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “Lateef was a nice man. His wife gave birth to their third child just two months ago. If Balogun was around, Lateef would not have intervened in the rampage.”

Our correspondent gathered that policemen visited the street in the evening and raided other suspected hoodlums lurking in the area.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, said he would get back to our correspondent on the incident.
He, however, had yet to get back as of press time.

There was a gun battle on Thursday night between yet to be identified rival cult groups and at the end one person was shot dead in a popular hotel in Lagos State , western Nigeria .

The incident which happened at about 10 pm at a popular hotel located in Akesan area also left several other people injured.
The police from Igando division have recovered the corpse of the unidentified victim and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy report .

P .M . NEWS gathered that a group of young people suspected to be cult members were in the hotel for a meeting when members of a rival cult group invaded the place and shot randomly.

Both the hotel workers and the group that was having meeting there scampered for safety and in the process sustained injuries while one person lost his life.

When our reporter visited Igando Police Station on Friday morning, the DPO was not around to comment on the incident.
However , sources at the station confirmed the incident and said the police have commenced investigation.

At the hotel , one of the workers who refused to identify himself , confirmed the incident and directed our reporter to Igando police station for further information.

When pressed further to ascertain wether it was a robbery attack, he denied it and said the people that came did not steal any thing from the hotel .

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer , PPRO , could not be reached as the time of filing this report because his phone was switched off .

Racheal (pseudonym) gave residents a scare after she collapsed in the passage of her parents’ rented apartment in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State. It was gathered that the 14-year-old girl almost died after she passed out a few minutes after being allegedly raped by her parents’ landlord, identified only as Christopher.

The prompt response of residents of Fasanya Street, where the incident happened, however, averted a tragedy.

Punch correspondent learnt that among those who came to her aid was Christopher, who pretended as if nothing happened between them. However, the landlord was said to have been arrested by policemen from the Alakara division after the victim confessed to her parents.

Racheal, an indigene of Ugelu, Delta State, told Punch Metro that her ordeal started the day she ran an errand for the landlord, who hails from Imo State, while her mother was away from home.

She said, “He has raped me three times. The first time was late last year when he asked me to buy him N10 sachet water. I bought the item and took it to his room, but he locked the door and pushed me to the bed. He pulled off my pants and I shouted for help.

“He said he would kill me with a knife he had kept on the table if I didn’t shut up. He then brought out a black and white cloth, which he used to cover my mouth.

“He brought something which he rubbed on my private parts and his own as well.

“After he finished, there was blood everywhere. He brought water and said I should wash the bloodstains on my clothes. He gave me N100 to buy a drug to reduce my pain. He said I should not let my parents know that he had deflowered me. He said if they noticed, I should lie that it was a classmate that did it.”

The Junior Secondary School 1 pupil said the following day the suspect sneaked to her parents’ apartment and demanded the pants she wore the day he deflowered her.

“I asked him what he wanted to do with it; he said he only wanted to see it. I gave it to him, and he took it away. The following day, he returned it to me and said I should make sure I wear it.

“From that time, my private parts started itching me. I found it difficult to urinate,” she added.

Racheal said the suspect threatened to kill her if she mentioned his name to her parents as being responsible for her ordeal.

He was said to have also promised to buy her a mobile phone if she kept the secret.

Racheal said on the day she passed out, the suspect tricked her again into his room and raped her, adding that after the sex, she became weak.

She said the suspect gave her a tin of milk to drink, adding that after she left the room, she became dizzy and fainted.

Racheal’s mother, Elizabeth, told Punch Metro that she rarely stayed at home due to the demand of her factory job, adding that her husband was jobless.

She said the family never suspected Christopher, because of the role he played while Racheal was ill.

She said, “I go to work in Agege around 3am, and return sometimes at 11pm, when they would have gone to bed. By the time I wake up in the morning, she and her siblings would still be asleep.

“When my daughter started complaining about itching in her private parts and could not urinate well, she told me it was her classmate that raped her.

“The landlord took me to the police station and together with some policemen we started looking for this classmate who allegedly raped her. I spent a lot of money and we went to different places, until the police became tired.

“We took her to a hospital for medical test and when I could not wait, I left my daughter with Christopher. When I asked him about the result of the test, he told me the doctors said everything was in order.”

She said a few weeks after she fainted, she woke Rachael up around 2am and pestered her to open up on who actually raped her, adding that it was then she confessed it was the landlord.

Punch Metro learnt that soon after the suspect was arrested by the police, Rachael was kidnapped.

Racheal, while recalling the incident, said she had gone out to throw away dirt in the evening when she was abducted by three men.

She said, “They said I should not shout and that if I did, they would kill me. I can recognise one of them.

“They said I must not run, if I did, they would kill me. They took me to a house.

“They used clothes to cover my face and my mouth and raped me. I was shouting and crying, but nobody came to my rescue.

“After they were done, they started apologising to me. The following day, one of the rapists brought me back home around 6am.”

Her father, Peter, said the family apprehended the suspect and was taking him to the Alakara Police Station when some hoodlums hijacked him from them.

He said he could not tell the fate of the suspect, as the mob pummelled him, before taking him away.

Peter said their neighbours had started keeping malice with them over the detention of the landlord.

Peter, who lost his welding job about 12 years ago, explained that the family did not have the means of relocating from the house.

“It is not our joy to continue to live in this kind of place, but what do we do? I lost my job in 2003 and my wife, who was a factory worker, has stopped working over this issue. We have spent our livelihood on the infection that affected her private parts.

“We need the help of the government and the good people of Nigeria, not only to rescue our daughter, but to save us and give us justice in this case,” he added.

The Coordinator of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, said the victim had been taken to the Mirabel Medical Centre where a case of rape was established.

She said, “We also informed the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Alakara Police Station and he organised officers who apprehended the suspect.

“However, the victim’s mother did not tell us that she was gang-raped. I think the level of awareness of the family is low. But we will see the case through.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, confirmed the incident, adding that the matter had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation.

“The man involved is a 60-year-old man. They all live together in Fadeyi. The case has been transferred to the SDCI and I have been informed that they have taken him to court.

“I am not aware that some boys gang-raped her.”

Yesterday, the first batch of 48 Nigerians were deported from the UK.Most of them came to the country without personal items. However, there are allegations that each deportee is given 3000 pounds by the UK government and this money is seized by the Nigerian embassy .
Last week, Professor Alexia Thomas, a Nigerian-born, British fiery Human Rights Activist who doubles as Chairman, The Commonwealth Liberation Party (TCLP) cried out over the issue.

She also issued a-48 hour ultimatum to President Muhammadu Buhari to order a complete close-down of Nigerian Embassy in London as a result of unchecked corruption, fraud, illegal arrest, criminal torture of Nigerians arrested, detained in various British Immigration Centers awaiting deportation.
Excerpts from her interview with George Elijah Otumu, CNN iReport Journalist North America.

Can you take us through the scandal rocking Nigerian Embassy UK?
We know the British authorities are busy organizing their ‘Cobra meetings’. We are also busy studying the situation to know how to create a formula- mathematical formula to find a solution. I received a phone call from some distress Nigerians already detained by British Immigration that a Nigerian lady called Mrs. Ngere, Deputy Immigration Officer at Nigerian Embassy came into British Immigration Detention Center, having gone around other Immigration Centers earlier. Ngere gathered those Nigerians in each British Immigration Detention Center as a flock, with obvious happiness and relief on faces of those Nigerians.
Those detained Nigerians had the feeling that at last another high-ranking Nigerian from the Embassy had come to help them diplomatically. Ngere’s response was: ‘You are a Nigerian, you need to return to Nigeria’. Unfortunately, she issued Traveling Document, TC, to British Immigration to deport Nigerians, even after they (the Nigerians) protested. We believe Ngere could not have come there so boldly without the support of her boss (Chief Immigration Officer).
I believe Ngere and the Chief Immigration Officer are traitors to the Nigerian people. It is a huge shame that Ngere for several years have been living on blood-money by regularly collecting 3,000 pounds per Deportee, head, issues Traveling Certificates to UK Border Agency. Our investigation confirmed that the British Government are no aware of this scandal, as names of these detained Nigerians to be deported are written on UK Border Agency document showing every deported Nigerians were handed the sum of 3,000 pounds each; where as this sum was always collected and blown by officials of Nigerian Embassy, while deported Nigerians are never allowed to remove their properties, nor given a dime.
Why did you give stern warning to Richard Branson?
I am using this medium to openly warn Richard Branson, the owner of Virgin Atlantic to steer clear from getting involved in this diplomatic crisis that is between Nigerians and Nigeria. We are warning him to ensure that none of his flights or pilot is allowed to convey Nigerian deportees to Nigeria on November 24,2015. If his pilots violate this Commonwealth treaty IBOM charter, he will be arrested, faces prosecution and be jailed. We are fully ready to legally fight him fight him from Nigerian courts to the highest World Court.
What is your message to Nigerian Federal Government?
I ask them to resign from that job at Nigerian Embassy in the next 72 hours, because Nigerian uprising will stand shortly. And if Nigerian uprising stands, the Nigerian Embassy UK will need to be closed down. Due to the illegal act of Ngere, Nigerian Federal Government is automatically ordered to close down Nigerian Embassy here in UK in 72 hours for the time being; thereby giving us enough time to resolve this madness. We want to use the formula of International Federalistic Political Approach. Nigerian House ought to be a house of safety. But from indications enumerated, the decoy is not a safety. That woman will need to be disrobed. Even though it was a declaration that ‘Nigerians should no longer be Deported’ as Cobra-meeting is on course, what gave Ngere the power to go British Detention and meet Nigerians there? Nigerians there are lamenting, while Ngere said they should go back home. One of the detained Nigerians summed up courage to ask Ngere, ‘Have you see what Professor Alexia Thomas has done for us? She replied: ‘She collected one of the national newspaper publication and promised to read it. She said she will go through the publication. Ngere is automatically guilty of criminal offense. Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs need to call-back Ngere’s appointment, arrest and prosecute her for being an espionage, traitor, betrayal. Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari should honor our 72 hours ultimatum and shut Nigerian Embassy, if not no one should held responsible when Nigerian protesters, protesters and angry Nigerians set fire on Nigerian House. If Buhari refuses: then don’t blame us in any way.

Come 2016, the Federal Government would commence payment of N5,000 promised unemployed Nigerian youth during the electioneering campaign, from 2016.
The minister of youth and sports, Solomon Dalong, said this on Wednesday when he paid a condolence visit on the national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, over the death of Abubakar Audu.

Mr. Dalong, who spoke to journalists during the visit, said

“I would want the youth to understand that every promise must be backed up by budgetary provision and our promise to pay N5000 is not contained in the 2015 budget. So, definitely, it is going to begin in 2016 as we have made budgetary allocations for that
“We are committed to the campaign promises of creating jobs, providing wealth and combat poverty. We have embedded in our manifesto things that we are translating to reality.”

The Police at Amukoko Divisional headquarters, Lagos, have arrested one Emmanuel Umanah, 21, for allegedly raping a four-old-girl (names withheld).

The suspect allegedly committed the crime in his one-room apartment on Opeoluwa Street, Mosafejo-Amukoko area of Ajegunle.
It was learned that the police arrested Umanah following a report from the girl’s grandmother that the factory worker who was her neighbour, allegedly lured and raped her granddaughter in his apartment.

According to her: “After preparing food, I did not see my grandchild who I was calling to come and eat. I was still searching for her when a little girl about her age told me she was in Umanah’s apartment watching a film. I knocked but nobody answered. So, I pushed the door open and behold my grandchild was Unclad and her body covered up with Fluid. I raised an alarm immediately and with the help of other neighbours, my daughter was taken to the hospital.”
Vanguardlearned that medical test conducted in a nearby hospital (names withheld) confirmed that the victim was raped as she had bruises and Fluid in her private part.

Suspect’s account
The suspect, a native of Akwa-Ibom State, told Vanguard;“I live at No 6, Opeoluwa Street, Mosafejo -Amukoko area of Ajegunle. I am 21-years old. I work at a factory located around Mile 2. I live alone because I am not married. I was inside my room watching a film when two little girls came into my apartment. Later, one of them left. I did not know she had gone to tell the victim’s grandmother that I was touching her. It was the grandmother of the victim that caught me while calling her to come and eat when they found her inside my room. That was the first time I was doing such and I was caught. I only released on her laps but the test carried out by the hospital said the victim had bruises and Fluid in her virginal.”

Police sources said the case was presently being investigated by Amukoko Divisional headquarters as the parents of the victim wanted the case to be properly investigated and charged to court.

Former James Bond-Pierce Brosnan has revealed how he was unceremoniously dumped as the iconic spy of the franchise whilst filming another movie. Pierce Brosnan, who played 007 in four films said he received a telephone call from the franchise’s long-term producers while he was in the Bahamas filming ‘After The Sunset’—despite dedicating seven years of his life to the series and beginning strongly with the classic ‘GoldenEye.’ Bronsnan said:

“I was in the Bahamas, working on a movie called ‘After The Sunset’ and my agents called me up and said, ‘Negotiations have stopped. [Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson] are not quite sure what they want to do.”

He added, “I sat in Richard Harris’s house in the Bahamas, and Barbara and Michael were on the line —‘we’re so sorry.’ She was crying, Michael was stoic and he said, ‘You were a great James Bond. Thank you very much,’ and I said, ‘Thank you very much. Goodbye.’ That was it. I was utterly shocked and just kicked to the curb with the way it went down.” Daniel Craig took over from Pierce Brosnan

Lara
A black woman named Lara Odoffin is alleging that a company offered her a job, but then withdrew the offer all because she refused to take out her braids.
Odoffin took to her Facebook page to share her experience:
So after being accepted for a position within this company, they have TAKEN BACK the offer of a position on the grounds that if I do not take my braids out. Naturally I simply cannot work for the company. This type of discrimination should not still be happening in this day and age and any establishment still condoning such practices deserve to be shamed and criticised. Being a black woman means that to have a long term hairstyle that stays neat is always going to be a problem. Having braids that last for 2-4 months and can be packed neatly and styled to however a workplace requires is the solution to this problem. No workplace has any right to forbid you from this. This is discrimination and I am disgusted that I had to be subject to such behaviour in this 21st century. Please share. It is not okay.
Lara's Letter
I thought i’d post a status to save time answering questions.
Firstly I’d like to say thank you to everyone for the support. What I intended to be a vent of my feelings towards the company and maybe be shared a couple of times has exploded and touched/angered a lot of people in way I genuinely could never have imagined.
I am not currently naming the company (as much as i’d like to right now out of indignation and anger) because I do not intend to destroy someones livelihood and business, and I don’t really want a lawsuit on my hands either… however it does not deter from the fact now that I have chanced upon an opportunity to correct blatant ignorance and discrimination, and it is a fact that I certainly will keep going until it is put to rest. If it does result in me having no choice but to completely expose the company, I have no problem in doing so.
This policy needs to be eradicated completely, there is no room for such rules in this day and age- across any sector. More than anything it just made me upset. I had the right experience, they were happy to have me… it was just about my hair. Kind of silly really. I will be speaking to a lawyer about this tomorrow and will be contacting the company. As I have now learnt social media is a very powerful thing and I would not want to misuse it!
Again, thank you very much for the surprising but amazing level of support, I will keep you posted.
