According to the lady, who is known on Twitter as hormollara_j, her boyfriend gave her N20k after she complained that she was broke, but instead, she used 10k out of the money to cook two different soup and stew for him. She also used N5k to buy a nice shirt for him.

Lastly, the lady said she spent the remaining 5k to subscribe for data so she could Facetime with her man.

Now she's asking, if she's normal for doing what she did with the N20k her boyfriend gave her after she complained to him that she was broke.

A 29-year-old woman , Mrs Ndidi Odo, has given birth to quintuplets in Nnewi, Anambra State.

The mother of the five new-born babies (four boys and a girl) said she didn’t know that she was carrying quintuplets in her womb and that scan only revealed that she would give birth to twins

According to her, she earlier had three girls which she got one after the other in different pregnancies, saying the girls were followed by triplets (two boys and a girl).

She, however, explained that she later lost the boys and was left with four girls, noting that she prepared for her last pregnancy which she hoped would produce a boy only to be blessed with four boys and a girl.

The father of the new babies, Mr Abuchi Odo, a tricycle operator, who said he wanted to run away after realizing the magnitude of the responsibility that just fell on him, said he was prevailed upon to stay back by one Prince Justin Brown and his elder brother.

He said his old tricycle could not put food on the table for nine children outside him and his wife.

He appealed to Governor Willie Obiano, Mr. Peter Obi, Cletus Ibeto, Dr Ifeanyi Uba, Sir Louis Onwugbuenu, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Archbishop Godwin Okpala and Bishop Hilary Okeke and other eminent personalities in the state and beyond for help.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Operatives in Ondo State Command have arrested one Pastor James Abiodun Adeniyi, for allegedly defrauding his church members.

Adeniyi, who is the founder and officiating pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Freedom City International, located at No 7, Gbogi Street, Akure, was arrested after complaints from members of the public.

The NSCDC Sector Commandant, Mr. Awili Pedro, said the clergy was arrested after complaints from some members of the church who he allegedly duped to the tune of N1.7 million.

Pedro said that the suspect allegedly defrauded an unsuspecting member of his church of N1.7 million by deceiving her to procure passport and visa for her son.

The commander said that Adeniyi also allegedly duped some unsuspecting unemployed youths in his church, by collecting money from them, while promising to help them with employment.

He said the youth, numbering 10, paid between N400,000 and N500,000 into the pastor’s account, but never secured the promised job. Pedro said that trouble started for the suspect when one of the suspects demanded the refund of her money. The pastor failed to pay back, claiming not to be involved in the deal.

Pedro said: “The pastor introduced his accomplice, Olamilekan Omole, to the church, who then connived with the pastor to defraud the unsuspecting victims.

The pastor had been dragged to court by the church youths, who were scammed by Adeniyi, demanding the refund of the money if he could not fulfil his promises.” One of the victims, Mrs. Folashade Olukini, explained that she paid N1.7 million for the procurement of American visa for her son but the pastor and his agent failed to procure the visa.

She said the agent had been on the run and refused to pick his calls for the past two months. Olukini said she had to hold the clergy responsible. She said: “Our pastor guaranteed that the agent was his Personal Assistant.

I started attending his church this year. He introduced his Personal Assistant as a travelling agent who could help to procure American visa. I approached them for my son’s visa. The pastor advised me not to pay until there was directive from God. He called me in February to go on with the arrangement.

I paid for the procurement of the visa by transferring the money into Olamilekan’s account twice, while they assured me the visa would be ready before end of April. “After I had transferred the money to the PA, he stopped picking my call. He disappeared and his phone number stopped going through. I approached the pastor, but said he knew nothing about it.

He promised to get across to the agent but there was no news. I demanded the refund of the money while the pastor claimed to be unaware of what transpired between me and the agent.” Another member of the church, Solomon Dauda, said he had to drag the pastor to court for defrauding him and his family over visa procurement issue.

Adeniyi, however, did not deny the allegations and expressed his readiness to refund the money. According to him, he introduced the victim to Omole, but said the agent had taken to his heels and couldn’t be located.

Adeniyi promised to pay back the money if released from NSCDC custody. He said: “I have agreed to pay back the money. The money was paid into Omole’s account but I promised to pay back the money. They need to give some me a little time.” The NSCDC commandant, however, said the suspect would be handed over to the police.

Popular social media influencer and CEO of Break Or Make Up, Blessing Okoro, has taken to her Instagram page to narrate how a man she was supposed to help get a job, was being unkind to her while they were inside KEKE NAPEP.

According her, they were supposed to meet at a designated spot and on the way to the agreed place, they met in the tricycle but didn’t know each other.

She had no idea he was the man she was going to meet and he didn’t also know she was the one he was going to meet for help.

I dont know her husband and we have never met before,as I sent her the address she called me back and was so excited that I was even around her area which will make it easy for him because he did not even have transport to come out,things was that bad. So I told her that he should pick a drop I will pay.

In other not to keep him stranded I had to start rushing back to were I packed my car . God I even entered under the rain,cold,just to meet up with him so he will not be stranded, as I was walking under the rain I saw a keke and stopped it,the keke man asked me to beg the man inside, so I started begging, the man refused and said I was wet. I told him I will sit one side, and he refused, saying except I pay for both his fare and mine.

I agreed, then he allowed me. as entered this man kept me uncomfortable, saying if my wet clothes touch him again I will drop down. I just kept my cool until I finally got to my destination, I did not even reach I stopped at the junction and paid then used my legs to walk to my car ,since it was very close.

I was inside my car warming myself, then I got a call from my friend saying her husband was around, so I described my car and he came. I saw someone knocked on my car glass,wound down and it was this same man in a keke with me?.

I was suppose to pay the keke man, and recommend him for a job. Tears rolled down my eyes, I brought out 3k, gave him, started my car and zoomed off. My friend has been calling and sending me messages, I had to block her. Be careful many times men of gold dont wear gold . Be nice ….”

Police in Lagos have arrested a houseboy, Mayowa Ogunmola, who sold his employer’s N10m Toyota Prado Land Cruiser for N50,000.

FSARS Operatives had launched a search for the suspect after his employer,  Femi Mayaki, a resident of Wiliam Care Street, Anthony Village, Lagos, on July 18, petitioned the Commissioner of Police Lagos State that Ogunmola made away with his Toyota Prado Land Cruiser Jeep containing personal documents.

The suspect was eventually arrested at Ikorodu, Lagos. During the interrogation, he confessed to the crime.

He later took detectives to Ijeba-Ota, Ogun State where he claimed he gave the stolen car to one Femi Ayoade whom he asked to get a buyer for it.

Femi, according to the police, was subsequently arrested and he confessed he sold the car to one Azeez Ibrahim, at the rate of N50,000 and led the Operatives to arrest Azeez Ibrahim and the stolen car was eventually recovered from him.

All the three suspects in the case are now in Police custody.

A 30-year-old man, Basiru Audu, who was recently apprehended for having sex with his six year old daughter in Niger state, says he did the crime because his wife wasn't always at home for him to have sex with.

According to Northern City news, Basiru's neighbours observed that the little girl was walking awkwardly and on inquiry, told them that her father inserted ''something in her private part.”

Basiru was apprehended and when he was interrogated, said he blames his wife who was away in their home town, Daura, Katsina State. He confessed to having sex with other underaged girls.

“I blamed my wife for not being around when I needed sex, she travels a lot and that was why I  had to sleep with my daughter; what a shameful thing. That night, I was having a burning sensation to have sex and since my wife was not around, I had no option but to sleep with my daughter to ease off tension,” he confessed.

Parading the suspect, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspect's confession shows the world is coming to an end.

“When a father decides to sleep with his biological daughter, I think the world is coming to an end.” he said.

Sunday Clark, a welder who plotted the abduction of a businessman, Adewale Kazeem, has been arrested by operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad attached to the Rivers State Police Command.

According to Punchng, the welder who is a member of a notorious kidnap gang, had earlier in December 2017, gone to Adewale’s house on invitation to carry out a welding job for him. However after the work invitation, he acted as an informant to the gang to kidnap Kazeem, a resident of Rukpokwu.

Clark who was among the five gang members paraded by the police, told newsmen that he was not among the abduction team but was only given N40,000 after ransom was paid.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed, have the names of the suspects as Tony Raphael, Ifeanyi Okoye, Chigozie Onuigbo, Emeka Nwaiwu, Chinedu Isia and Sunday Clark.

He said they operated with an unregistered police colour Ford Ranger van, which was among item recovered from them after they were apprehended on June 18 and 19, 2018 during a sting operation.

Sterling Bank tweeted an advert that was interpreted as a diss towards other banks. The symbols of other banks were incorporated into the advert.

Some of the other banks responded with shades of their own, but GTBank did not respond.

Then rumours emerged, the next day, that GTBank had reported Sterling Bank to the Central Bank (CBN). CBN rules prevent banks from demarketing their competitors. Demarketing means spreading rumours, creating adverts, etc in order to discourage people from using the services of your competitor.

Sterling Bank has now apologised for the advert and deleted the tweet.

Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim has said if a man refuses to take good care of his woman, someone else will surely do so.

This might just be a hint on what may have caused an alleged breakup with Nigerian rapper, Iceberg Slim.

In a new social media post, the light-skinned curvy actress wondered why some men neglect taking care of their women simply because they feel she is independent.

According to her, such notion will only make some other guy snatch the lady from them. She wrote;

“I do not understand Men who dont take care of their women, all in the name of “She’s independent”. If you don’t take care of her my brother someone else will. #OpenGistWithJuliet.”

Few months ago, Juliet Ibrahim sparked breakup rumors with Iceberg Slim after she deleted pictures of the both of them together from her social media pages. This made many of her fans to draw conclusions that her relationship with he rapper is over.

However, in a social media post, Juliet revealed that she decided to take her private life off social media, hence the reason she deleted pictures of the both of them.

National Pension Commission, PenCom, has said the Pension Reform Act, 2014 allows employees under the Contributory Pension Scheme, CPS, to contribute voluntarily in addition to the mandatory contributions into their respective Retirement Savings Account, RSA, to augment their pension at retirement. The Act also allows exempted employees from CPS to participate involuntarily in the CPS subject to a guideline issued by the Commission.

Meanwhile, the Commission said it has observed a tendency for requests for withdrawals by Pension Funds Administrators and especially the significant amount withdrawn, usually within a short interval of lodgment in the RSA both of the mandatory and exempted contributors thereby defeating the purpose of voluntary contributions which is meant to enhance pension at retirement adding “also the short intervals between the date of contributions and withdrawals, results in significant tax payable to the relevant tax authorities.” To check this tendency, PENCOM said all PFAs/PFCs (Pension Funds Custodians) must ensure that “withdrawals from voluntary contributions is allowed once every two years from the last approved withdrawal date.

Subsequent withdrawals shall only be on the incremental contributions from the date of last withdrawal. For mandatory contributors, the amount remitted as voluntary contributions shall be as follows: 50% shall be treated as contingent, available for withdrawal within the stipulated timeframe of 2 years. Taxes would be deducted on income earned in line with Section 10 {4} of the PRA 2014. The balance of 50% shall be fixed for pension and utilized at date of retirement to augment the contributor’s retirement benefit.” Foreign contributors The commission says “The time frame for withdrawal of once every 2 years in clause 5 {a} above shall be adopted.

The contributor is allowed to withdraw all the funds in his/ her account after two years of contribution, subject to deduction of taxes on both income earned and principal when withdrawal is made in less than five years of the contribution. PFAs shall forward requests for approval to the commission using the revised schedule for voluntary contribution withdrawals. Both PFAs and PFCs are required to inform the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of any single lodgment of N5 million and above. Henceforth, all tax deductions shall be remitted to the relevant tax authorities within 21 days after the end of the month of deduction and render returns to the Commission twice yearly of such remittance”.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Edgal Imohimi, has banned policemen in the state from patrolling in mufti and commercial vehicles.

He made this known to the public in a statement released today by the spokesperson of the Police command, SP Chike Oti.

To ensure that policemen in Lagos are at their professional best always, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Edgal Imohimi has banned police operatives in the state from operating in mufti and commercial vehicles such as the yellow buses popularly known as Danfo or other commercial buses. Unmarked vehicles will only be used occasionally for covert operations targeted at a specific individual or group based on credible intelligence.

The Command is not unaware that some unscrupulous individuals impersonate as SARS operatives. To this end, the CP urges members of the public to take note of the dress code for SARS operatives in the Command. The dress code is as follows:
1. A black jacket and a fez cap.
2. In the front of the jacket, the word police is written in white at the top right part.
3. At the bottom left part of the jacket,
F-SARS 039 is written there.
4. At the back of the jacket are
inscriptions "F-SARS LAGOS," "SCORPION" and a red image of a Scorpion.
5. On the fez cap are inscriptions
"F-SARS" and "SCORPION."

The CP had, on assumption of office, set up a Citizen Complaint Hot Centre (CCHC) with the following telephone lines solely dedicated for lodging complaints against wrong actions of policemen. They are:

Police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, has said that the blockade of the Abuja home of Senate President Bukola Saraki must have been by his own security aides, rather than by the Police. as widely reported.

Moshood, in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday afternoon, said that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has consequently ordered a probe into the incidence.

The media had reported earlier on Tuesday that operatives of the Department of State Services and policemen laid siege to Saraki’s home in Abuja.

Saraki had also alleged that the siege was an attempt to stop some members of the Senate from defecting from the ruling party.

However, Moshood denied that the Police blocked Saraki from leaving his residence in the morning, noting that the “unathorised blockade” must have been carried out by his (Saraki’s) security aides.

He added that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered an investigation into the incident.

In a sudden twist of fate, the ruling All Progressives Congress has had 32 of its members in the House of Representatives defecting to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday.

Four other lawmakers also defected to the African Democratic Congress.

Thirty-two members of the APC in the House of Representatives had defected to the PDP in what is turning out to be a macabre political dance.

Four others in the APC from Oyo State also defected to the ADC, bringing the total number of defection to 36.

The Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, has just made the announcement, throwing the PDP camp into jubilation.

However, the APC still remains in the majority.

Prominent among the defectors are Sani Rano, Barry Mpigi, Ali Madaki, Dickson Tackighir, Hassan Saleh, Danburam Nuhu, Mark Gbilah, Razak Atunwa, Ahmed Bichi, Abdulsamad Dasuki and Zakari Mohammed.

Neither the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, nor his deputy, Yusuff Lasun, was named among the defectors.

Few minutes after the 36 announced their defection, the  chairman of the House of Representatives Rules and Business, Orker Jev, announced he was also resigning from the APC.

He cited division in the APC as his reason for leaving the party. He however did not announce the party he is moving to.

Earlier in the day, 15 senators announced their defection from the APC, majority moving to the PDP.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles chief coach, Salisu Yusuf, is set to face the combined wrath of FIFA, CAF and the NFF after he was caught on camera taking cash to influence players’ selection.

The footage, which was released by BBC Africa Eye, was captured by Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in September 2017.  In the video, Yusuf was seen taking cash from men posing as football agents.
Yusuf, who is the chief coach of the Super Eagles, and first assistant during the World Cup, is due to lead the national team to the Olympics in 2020. He was in charge of the Super Eagles Team B to the 2017 WAFU and 2018 CHAN where they lost in both finals.

The supposed football agents for some players approached Yusuf in September 2017 for a conversation about players’ selection. During the conversation, they handed the Nigerian coach N360, 000 ($1000) and alluded to more cash incentives if he selects their players for CHAN 2018 which held in Morocco.

A young Nigerian man who shared a selfie to celebrate his survival has died just one day after.

Elemuwa Obinna was out walking with friends when he informed them he wasn't feeling well. As they continued walking, Obinna collapsed and efforts to revive him proved abortive at first. People gathered, prayed, and did everything they could and after a while, he opened his eyes and began responding to the prayers. He was then rushed to the hospital where he felt much better and even took a selfie to celebrate his survival.

His friend Ezekiel Stmark, who was out walking with Obinna when he collapsed, took to Facebook to share the good news and narrated how it happened. He also thanked God for saving his friend's life and revealed that he's doing much better.

One day later, Ezekiel returned to Facebook to reveal that his friend Obinna is dead. He reportedly died yesterday afternoon. Ezekiel went to visit Obinna to find out how he was doing and was told he passed on at noon.

Friends have taken to Facebook to express shock at the sudden demise of Obinna and mourn him.

Here is the photo of the 19-year-old Dorcas Adilewa, who planned her kidnap to defraud her father of N600k in Lagos.

The Lagos State Police Command following a report by the suspect’s father at Ketu Police Station arrested her on July 13 together with one Ifeoluwa Ogunbanjo, her friend, who provided location and a phone to contact her parents.

Confirming the arrest in a statement, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal said:

“On July 7 at about 5 p.m., Adilewa Taiwo of No. 3, Kosumi Lane, Bello-Ketu, Lagos, reported at Ketu Police Station that he received a call from phone number 09057432362. He was told that his daughter, Dorcas Adilewa, was being held hostage and that if he does not want her killed, he should pay a ransom of N600,000 to secure her release.

Investigation into the case was immediately commenced and the above phone number that was used by the suspects was geo-located to Ijebu-Igbo area of Ogun State. The O/C Anti-Kidnapping led his operatives to Ijebu-Igbo on July 12 and combed the area in search of the supposed victim till the following morning”. 

The commissioner said that while the search was ongoing at Ijebu-Igbo, the location of the supposed kidnappers changed to Ikotun in Lagos and the search party had to move from Ijebu-Igbo to IKotun in Lagos to rescue the victim.

“When the fake kidnappers realised that the Police were closing in on them, the supposed victim decided to call the complainant to inform him that she has been released, after he had deposited the sum of N8,000 naira in her UBA account number: 2087804991.” Imohimi  said that when Adilewa was being debriefed upon her release, she confessed that she actually planned the fake kidnap with her friend, one Ogunbanjo. 

“She provided her with accommodation at No. 174, Adeboye road, Okesopin, Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State to hide and the phone that they used in demanding for the ransom. Investigation is in progress and on completion, the suspects will be charged to court accordingly,” the commissioner said.

The Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, said on Wednesday the Federal Government has approved the payment of N45billion severance package to former staff of the defunct Nigeria Airways.

The national carrier was liquidated by ex- President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration in 2005, and the workers had been embarking on protests nationwide over their unpaid entitlements.

Sirika told State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting that money has been approved for the settlement of the entitlements.

“Governments, in the past, decided just to liquidate Nigeria Airways without tending to the issue of the entitlements of the workers and they have been struggling to get that paid. We came in and took it very seriously.

“I’m happy to announce that Mr. President has approved N45 billion which has been confirmed to be the entitlements of these workers and Ministry of Finance has been instructed to pay the money. The ministry wrote to me last week that they have received the instruction to pay these workers, and therefore, they are setting up the modalities to pay.

“You should know it won’t be paid through my ministry before somebody will say I take some of it. It will be paid by finance through a process, and that process will commence very soon,’’ he said.

The minister disclosed that the Council approved the procurement of operational vehicles for Nigeria Port Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

A private secondary school based in Ondo State on Saturday came under fire for allegedly printing the names of final year students, who didn’t contribute towards the purchase of a television set in the school.

A Twitter user, Bhadmus Hakeem @Bhadoosky revealed the anguish of parents of the graduating students, who discovered that the names of their children and wards, had been printed in the school’s send-forth magazine as debtors.

Hakeem in his Twitter thread said that the students were required to contribute the sum of 5,000 naira towards the purchase of a 32″ television set. “Yesterday (20/7/2018), a school in Arigidi Akoko, Ondo state, decided to throw over 24 parents and their children into sorrow on a day they should be the most joyous because they didn’t pay N,5000 to buy the school “32 inches TV”.

On a graduation day, the worst thing you can ever do to a parent and child is make them sad and also document their sadness forever. How do you explain unprofessionalism of this magnitude to people? What were (sic) the school management trying to achieve with this stupidity?”

When PUNCH Online reached out to the school, they revealed shock at the news, saying that it was the decision of the graduating students to buy a television set for the school as a legacy of their set

According to the School Coordinator, Mr Austin Duyi, “Hundred per cent of the information” posted by Hakeem is “incorrect.”

He said, “SSS three students were the ones that organised the project to help their school and leave a legacy.  The person, who posted the malicious information about the school, we don’t know.”

When asked if the students had been the one to put the names of indebted students in the magazine, Duyi said, “In every school magazine, there is a page given to the student to allow themselves to express themselves. They are the ones who wrote everything and said it should be printed.

“It is, therefore, a surprise to us that someone would pick up only that column of the magazine, which is between 60-70 pages. The person didn’t see the good aspects of the school, only the negative. We are shocked.”

The police in Lagos state is on the trail of 27-year-old man, Emmanuel Eghaghe, for beating his mother to death because she allegedly refused to give him a sum of N20,000.

Acciording to reports, Emmanuel had visisted his 61-year-old mother, Helen,  at her shop on Jinadu Street, Ajangbadi, Lagos State, on July 6, 2018 and asked her to give him pocket money which she refused to.

He got angry and went violent on her. He started to harrass her and whilst he was struggling with her purse, slammed her head on the wall in the shop. She had a deep cut on her head and her mouth was gushing out blood. Seeing how badly injured his mother was, Emmanuel immediately fled the scene.

Narrating how the incident happened, a resident in the area who spoke with Punch, said

“The sister of the suspect has a hotel in the community. He gave their mother a room in the hotel. She also opened a shop for the woman in front of the hotel. He pushed her to the wall and broke her head in the process. There were bloodstains everywhere and the woman eventually died in a hospital. He ran away immediately and has yet to be found. His sister was abroad and she was planning to relocate him there. A resident informed the woman’s brother and he travelled to Lagos from Benin. I was surprised why a child would do such a cruel thing to his mother'''.

Also speaking, the brother of the deceased, Friday, called him to inform him of thr gruesome murder

“Around 11am that day, somebody called me with my mum’s (Helen’s) phone number and said somebody wanted to kill her. When I asked the person what the problem was, she cut the call. I called back, but she did not pick her calls. It was a little girl that was staying with her who later picked the call and told me that my mum had been killed. I left Benin immediately for Lagos. It was the woman who brought me up. Emmanuel was the fifth and the last child of the family. One of them lives in Benin here while others live abroad. I didn’t know why he killed her.”

Confirming the incident, the Lagos state police command's spokesperson, Chike Oti, said the command is now on the trail of the suspect

 “The police got a report that the suspect hit his mother’s head against the wall in an attempt to get money from her forcefully. As a result, she became unconscious and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. She gave up the ghost at the hospital. The suspect is now at large. Detectives visited the scene and deposited the corpse at the Isolo General Hospital mortuary for autopsy. A manhunt for the suspect is being intensified.”

The police in Edo state have arrested a 19-year-old man identified as Junior Baba, for stabbing his 18-year-old girlfriend, Matilda Odiri, to death at his home on Akugbe Street in Benin metropolis in the Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State on July 7th.

According to reports, Matilda had arrived Baba's house on the day of the incident with the intention of sleeping over. She then accused him of being unfaithful to her as she suspected he was keeping another girl. There arguement degenerated into a fight and in the process, Baba picked up his kitchen knife and stabbed Matilda. She died on the spot.

Realising what he'd done, Baba carried her body and dumped it by the roadside.

He then fled to the Auduwawa area of Benin city where he was apprehended.

Confirming his arrest, the state commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, said Baba has since confessed to committing the crime. He added that the suspect would be charged to court soon.

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Nigerian women to get more involved in political activities, saying from his experience, female politicians are more trustworthy than their male counterparts.

Obasanjo, who spoke at a retreat in support of women’s participation in government, political processes and the work place organized by the Initiative for Information, Arts and Culture Development in Nigeria in conjunction with the American Corner, Ibadan, cited the number of men who were prosecuted for several corrupt cases compared to women, and other factors as evidence of his assertion.

In the keynote address, Obasanjo said women’s contributions to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) were higher. “No nation will become great when half of her population ends up only in the kitchen and ‘the other room’, or get disproportionately discriminated against in the higher echelon of corporate management and in governance.”
He called for more effort to remove barriers to women in attaining higher positions in politics, adding, “All hindrances to free and compulsory girl-child education in Nigeria for the first nine years of formal school such as culture, religion and so on should be stopped. Child marriage should be made unlawful, girls must be able to receive formal education from primary to tertiary level. This gathering could not have come at a better time than now, when everyone is looking forward to the politics of 2019.”

Nigerians have got to be extra careful as fraudsters have upped their game in scamming unsuspecting Nigerians of their hard earned money. A man was caught on CCTV stealing the POS machines at an eatery.

In the video which was posted online in order to identify the culprit (the man in a suit), the suspected fraudster can be seen standing at the counter while pretending to be a customer before stealing the POS machine after a staff turned away while attending to others.

The man immediately concealed the stolen machine in a newspaper before walking away.

According to reports, the scammers bug the POS machines and return them back to where they were stolen from. Once a debit/ATM card is swiped on them, the bank account details are forwarded to the fraudsters who will then clear their victim's accounts within minutes.

A celebrity Brazilian plastic surgeon known as Dr Bumbum has been arrested after four days on the run following the death of one of his patients.

Police say Dr Denis Furtado was detained in Rio de Janeiro thanks to an anonymous tip.

His patient Lilian Calixto died following injections he gave her to enlarge her buttocks.

Dr Furtado faces murder charges. His mother was also arrested and is accused of being an accomplice.

Investigators say Dr Furtado carried out the procedure on Ms Calixto, a 46-year-old bank manager and mother-of-two, at his home in Rio de Janeiro - but she fell ill during the procedure.

Dr Furtado took her to a hospital where her condition worsened and she died some hours later, police said. Local media reported that she arrived at the hospital suffering from an abnormally fast heart rate.

Dr Furtado then disappeared. On Wednesday his lawyer said he was innocent and had not turned himself in to police because he was panicking.

Rio police posted a photo of him alongside his mother, Maria de Fátima Barros Furtado, after their arrest.

His girlfriend, Renata Fernandes, had already been arrested on suspicion of taking part in the procedure.

In a video posted on social media after his arrest on Thursday, Dr Furtado said Ms Calixto's death had been a "fatal accident" and said he had performed 9,000 such procedures and that they were legal in Brazil.

The 45-year-old has appeared on Brazilian television and had nearly 650,000 followers on his Instagram account.

Brazilian media said that his registration from the Federal Medical Council showed that he was licensed as a doctor in Brasília and the nearby state of Goiás, but he was not recorded as a specialist.

The Brazilian Plastic Surgery Society said he was not a trained plastic surgeon. In a statement on its website, it said procedures should never be carried out in private homes, and it warned against using PMMA - a synthetic resin also known as acrylic glass filler - for any aesthetic purposes.

In a Facebook post earlier this month, Dr Furtado had called PMMA "a minimally invasive procedure, offering immediate and definitive results, using local anaesthesia and therefore painless, without much need of rest after the procedure". It is believed that Ms Calixto had booked in for this treatment.

An ATM fraudster met his Waterloo, this morning, at Ramat ECTS transport park Benin, Edo state.

It was gathered that the suspect specializes in defrauding women by hanging around bank premises, pretending to be of help to them.

He, however, ran out of luck, today, when he exchanged the ATM card of the lady pictured in the photo, and handed her a fake one.

The lady figured out it wasn't her ATM card and raised an alarm. When the suspect was nabbed, a total of 32 ATM cards and N80,000 were found on him. He has since been handed over to the police.

A fatal accident involving a bus and a train occurred at Old Abeokuta Road by Odejobi junction on Friday.

According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority Twitter handle, the accident occurred on Friday morning. The number of casualties wasn’t stated, except that it hindered the flow of traffic at that end of town.

As of the time of filing this report, the traffic management agency has revealed that the scene of the “fatal train-bus accident has been fully recovered. Our officers are currently flushing the heavy traffic trail it has left behind.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is reconsidering participating in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.

Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, said this when he received a Joint International Election Observation Mission fielded by two main American international civil agencies, the National Democratic Institute, (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI), at the party headquarters in Abuja, yesterday July 19th.

“We are yet to take the decision whether we will participate or not, we are no longer confident in INEC or in our own security'' he told the election observers. In Ekiti state governorship election last Saturday, we did not contest with APC, we contested with INEC and Security agencies. For us as an opposition party, we have lost confidence in INEC and security agencies” Secondus said.

The party chairman described what happened in Ekiti State as not just electoral fraud but robbery in connivance with INEC and security agencies. ACcording to him, the party is consulting with its relevant organs in the review of Ekiti election to reconsider their position on 2019 general elections. He said a situation where bodies that should be neutral in a contest are brazenly helping to manipulate the process in favour of one party is antithetical to democracy and is a dangerous signal.

Secondus added that there were clear indications for all to see that the ruling APC is scheming to engineer more crisis in the land to enable them to manipulate the electoral process in their favour in connivance with security agencies.

A 24-year-old notorious car thief, Yemi Adeoye, says he specialized in stealing Honda cars because they were easy to unlocked and disposed off. Adeoye who was paraded alongside other criminals at the Ondo state police headquarters yeterday July 19th, is said to have stolen about 32 Honda CRVs in the last two years.



Speaking with newsmen, Adeoye said he stole three Honda cars recently because he had a case in court and he needed money to settle his lawyer.

“I sold two Honda CRV at the sum of N680,000 to feed myself and to pay my lawyer for his service because I have a pending case in the court. I gave the two cars to Abiola Anifowose who is a vulcanizer. He sold them to Ayeni Paul who is a tailor,” he said.

The police command's spokesperson, Femi Joseph, said Adeoye was arrested in Shasha area of Akure while trying to steal a Toyota Corolla belonging to one Olanipekun. Joseph said the command has arrested Adeoye more than three times, wondering why he always secured his release in court.



He said Adeoye, who was freed by the court on June 15th went back to business the following day by stealing an Honda CRV belonging to a journalist in Ondo town.

“After the suspect was arrested, he confessed to specializing in stealing of Honda cars and Jeeps. Another suspect, Waheed Anifowose, a vulcanizer, who specialised in selling all vehicles stolen by Adeoye was also arrested,” Joseph said.

The PPRO said three vehicles including one Toyota Corolla car with registration number SS 719 AAA and two Honda CRV Jeeps as well as master keys were recovered from the other suspects.

Chief Segun Odegbami, a former Super Eagles footballer has declared his intention to vie for governorship in Ogun State on the platform of the Labour Party.

During the event, the legendary footballer said education and health will get more attention if he is elected as the governor of Ogun State in 2019.

Odegbami, while declaring at the party secretariat at Quarry Road in Abeokuta, promised to give people’s welfare adequate attention. He said, “our government, which would be led by the Labour Party, will provide quality education and health care delivery system by building hospitals where necessary. Necessary facilities for proper care, including drugs and personnel, would be provided. I believe that only the people with sound health can work and even enjoy amenities provided by the government.” 

He noted that hospitals in Nigeria had turned to mortuary because they lacked the necessary facilities they needed to save lives. Odegbami cited the instance of his mother, who he said the medical doctors had written off and he took her abroad for medical attention and she lived for another 11 years before she died. 

On education, the football legend, while berating the falling standard of education in the country, said his government would provide education that would make graduates employable and as well as provide jobs for other people. 

The Labour Party Chairman in Ogun State, Mr  Abayomi Arabambi, while welcoming Odegbami and other party supporters, frowned on the failure of the  All Progressives Congress-led government in the state to solve various challenges confronting the people in the state.

In an interview monitored on Sky News, the former Arsenal Manager was quoted to have said, “I regret having sacrificed everything I did because I realize I’ve hurt a lot of people around me.
