A 32- year - old Lagos tailor, Mr. Suleiman Ajenifuja , has been arrested with three suspected human skulls.

The father of two , who also claimed to be working as a street sweeper in Lagos , said he was taking the skulls to an Islamic cleric for spiritual purposes when he was arrested.

Ajenifuja said a friend connected him to the Islamic cleric.

He said , “I am a tailor, but I also work with the Lagos State Government as a street sweeper from 11pm to 2 am . While I was working one night , I saw a bag containing these things (the skulls). I initially wanted to drop the bag , but someone told me that the skulls could be used for some things.

“ I contacted one of the boys that we usually talk together , named Saheed , and he gave me the Alfa ’ s phone number. When I called the Alfa , he told me to come to Ilorin . I have never been to Ilorin before , but he asked me to alight at a particular place where he would come to pick me.

“ He had earlier asked me what I wanted to do with the items and I told him that I wanted what would bring more people to my shop. ”

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police , Mr, Ado Lawan , who paraded Ajenifuja along with other criminal suspects in the state , said he was arrested on March 26 by operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol Team of the command , led by one Mr. Erumebekakhue Benson.

University of Ibadan (UI) has announed plans to expel 328 first-year students for what it described as “shameful academic performance” in the recently concluded 2016/2017 session.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, in a statement yesterday, blamed the situation on the absence of post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (post-UTME) screening test before the affected students and their set were admitted.

According to Olayinka, the university compiled the list of the affected students following the meeting of the university Senate of March 19 and 20, where they deliberated on the 2016/2017 academic session results of the final year and other students.

He said the students did not meet up with the minimum academic benchmark or requirements approved by the university Senate, adding that one out of every nine students in 100-Level did not meet the minimum condition to retain their studentship.

The Vice-Chancellor hinted: “It can be observed that students in the science-based disciplines, in particular, did not perform too well, with the pass rate being lowest at 67.5 per cent at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. On the other hand, the Humanities-based discipline posted better results, with the best coming from the Faculty of Law at 99.2 per cent.”

He, however, blamed the shameful performance on the failure to conduct the yearly post-UTME test for students admitted to the university for the 2016/2017.

On Tuesday, Facebook shares fell by 5% following reports that CEO Mark Zuckerberg agreed to testify in front of Congress about the company's data scandal.

The crisis began on March 16 after Facebook said it was suspending data analysis company Cambridge Analytica for allegedly harvesting data from more than 50 million Facebook users. Cambridge Analytica worked on Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

Since then, Facebook's stock has plunged 18%, wiping out nearly $80 billion from the social networking giant's market value in the process. Zuckerberg's net worth has fallen by about $14 billion (he is still worth $61 billion, though).

Tech stocks in general have taken a hit since the Facebook allegations first came to light. The Nasdaq is down 6%.  And other social media companies, most notably YouTube owner Google and Twitter, have both nosedived as well.

Shares of Google parent Alphabet (GOOGL) fell 7% since March 16 while Twitter has plunged 20%. Twitter (TWTR) was down 12% alone on Tuesday after noted short seller Citron Research has changed its tune on the company's stock.

Investors worry that Facebook, Google and Twitter could all face tougher regulations in the United States and around the world because of the Cambridge Analytica controversy.  If that happens, it could stymie growth for all three companies but Facebook in particular. Investors also worry that users may flee these companies because of privacy concerns. And if users flee, advertisers may eventually jump ship too.

A carpenter , Nnana Ononaku , was on Monday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos , for allegedly strangling his wife to death and throwing her body into the lagoon.

The accused , 45, resident of number 89, Oke Eri Street , Oworonshoki, Lagos , was charged with murder.

His plea was not taken.

Earlier , the Prosecutor , Inspector Cousin Adams , had told the court that the accused committed the offence on February 15, at 11 . 00 pm at Oke - Eri in Oworonshoki.

Adams said that the accused strangled his wife , Iyabo Akinpelu, 48 , before throwing her body into the lagoon.

“ Her body was found floating in the lagoon with her hands tied with a rope , ” the prosecutor alleged.

He said the offence contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State , 2015 which stipulates a death sentence for convicts.

The Chief Magistrate , Mrs . A. O . Adegite , remanded the accused at the Ikoyi Prisons , pending an outcome of legal advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions .
She adjourned the case until April 30 for the legal advice.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday said it had seized 159 million tablets of Tramadol at Apapa Port in Lagos.

Director, Technical Services of the agency, Mr Femi Oloruntoba, made this known at a public hearing organised by the Senate Joint Committee on Drugs and Narcotics and Health in Abuja.

Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever used to treat or moderate severe pain.

The public hearing was based on a motion entitled “The Need to Check the Rising Menace of Pharmaceutical Drugs Abuse among Youths in Nigeria”.

Oloruntoba revealed that 50 tonnes of Tramadol was recently destroyed in Kano alone.

He said there were laws guiding the use of controlled drugs like Tramadol and Cocaine and what was needed was enforcement of the laws.

“In 2016, about 31 different substances were abused in Nigeria,” he said.

The director noted that drug was on in the exclusive legislative list and should not be taken to the concurrent, adding that if that was done otherwise, there would be a huge anarchy.

He lamented that only the Federal High Court had jurisdiction to try drug cases, describing it as “a challenge”.

He said that because the cases could not be prosecuted in magistrate court, most of the time the Federal High Court was choked and a lot of cases not moving,” he said.

Oloruntoba, therefore, called on the Federal Government to increase the number of judges in the federal high court to try cases of drug abuse.

In his submission, President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Ahmed Yakasai, called for the drafting of a prescription policy to curb drug abuse menace.

“We are trying to see where we have prescription policy. If we have this prescription policy, we will know who is doing what,” he said.

Yakasai, who said that Nigeria’s borders were porous, decried existing situation which forbids National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), was not allowed access into the ports.

On his part, Director-General of the agency, Prof. Christiana Adeyeye, said the agency lacked adequate manpower for frequent visitation to pharmaceutical companies.

Represented by Dr Umar Musa, Director, Narcotics and Controlled Substances, Adeyeye said drug problem was a genuine crisis that required collective efforts to tackle.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Senate Committee, Sen. Joshua Lidani, said the use of illicit drugs, trafficking and other pharmaceutical drugs abuse, particularly among women and youth, was worrisome and was increasing by the day.

“This calls for concern and urgent action to stem the tide.

“It behooves stakeholders to strengthen and redouble our efforts to tame it, and where possible, strengthen the capacity of agencies charged with the responsibility of enforcing relevant laws to enable them discharge their responsibilities effectively.” (NAN)

Russian businessman Sergei Mavrodi, whose MMM pyramid scheme deprived millions of Russians of their savings in the 1990s, has died of a heart attack, according to Russia media.
Reports said the 62-year-old was rushed to the hospital late on March 25 with pain in his chest and died several hours later.

Mavrodi's MMM financial pyramid was a typical Ponzi scheme in which earlier investors receive their profits from subsequent investors. Mavrodi promised returns of 20 percent to 75 percent a month, as well as lotteries and bonuses for investors.

As soon as the number of new clients stopped growing, the pyramid collapsed, causing huge financial losses for at least 10 million people, in some cases leaving them destitute.

In 1994, Mavrodi was elected as a lawmaker, a decision he later said was to ensure he received immunity from prosecution. In 1996, he lost his parliamentary mandate.

In 2007, a Moscow court found him guilty of financial fraud and sentenced him to 4 1/2 years in a penal colony.
In 2011, Mavrodi launched another pyramid scheme called MMM-2011, calling on investors to purchase so-called Mavro currency units in a bid to get rid of the "unfair " financial system. Some 15 months later, Mavrodi halted the project.
From 2011-16, Mavrodi launched Ponzi schemes under the MMM brand in India, China, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria.

In many of those countries, Mavrodi's operations were subsequently shut down or suspended.

Stephen Uwa, who fled after allegedly dumping the body of his lover, Joy Vincent, who died after an alleged marathon sex in his house at Iyana Isashi, Lagos on Thursday has been arrested by the Ilemba Hausa Division of Lagos State police command.

The arrested suspect reportedly smuggled back the body of his lover who visited him at his apartment on Sunday March 18, to her one room apartment on Thursday, March 22, at about 11:00a.m. in Oshja Arigba street, Zone five in Imude area of Lagos.

Stephen who arrived Joy’s apartment with three unknown persons who parked the vehicle they came with in front of the compound, requested that the last son of his lover, Ikechukwu, be called from school after the deceased’s neighbour who sells articles in the next building told him that nobody was at home.

However when Ikechukwu arrived home, Stephen collected the key from him and asked him to go and call his aunt who lives a few blocks away.

“I wasn’t at home when it happened, but Ikechukwu said that Uwa came into the house with a car in the company of a man and two other women.

When they drove into the compound, one of our neighbours told them that nobody was at home. He then requested that they call my younger brother, Ikechukwu, whose school is not far from our house. When Ikechukwu brought the key, Uwa told him that my mother was sick and requested for the door key. Ikechukwu collected the key from our neighbour and gave it to Uwa.

He told Ikechukwu to go and call Aunty Esther, who lives at Alafia Street. Before my brother and Aunty Esther could come back, Uwa and his friends had driven away. They laid my mother’s body on the bed, covered her body with clothes and she looked like she was sleeping. I still can’t believe my mother is gone. She was healthy before she left home for Uwa’s place” the deceased first son, Christian told newsmen.

In his statement at the Police Station, Stephen disclosed that the deceased came to his house on Sunday and they had sex till Thursday morning. However she complained of stomach pain, and asked him to take her home.

“As at the time I took her home, she was still alive, but unconscious. I love her. We have been together for about three years now. I didn’t use her for ritual.

She only came to visit me, and we had sex that Sunday till Thursday morning, before she started complaining of stomach pain. She then asked me to take her home. She was still unconscious when I brought her home. I regret dumping her body. I followed her instruction; she told me to take her home, that she would be fine” he said.

Confirming the report, the Lagos State police command spokesman, Chike Oti, said the suspect, 60-year-old, Stephen Uwa and two women who assisted him to take the woman home, were arrested on Friday, around 8:00p.m.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, arraigned one Ifeanyi Nwaneri before Justice Olusola Ajibike Williams of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a five-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of N1.2billion.

The defendant, a customer with Access Bank Plc, was alleged to have fraudulently carried out several transactions on Point of Sales (POS) terminal issued to him by the bank.

One of the counts reads: “That you, Ifeanyi Nwaneri, sometime between September 1 and 4, 2017, at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly converted for the use of Sessy Global Ventures the sum of N25, 000, 000.00 (Twenty-five Million Naira only), property of Access Bank Plc.”

Another count reads: “That you, Ifeanyi Nwaneri, sometime between August 15 and September 12, 2017, at Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly converted for the use of Omede Shedu Silas the sum of N17, 000, 000.00 (Seventeen Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira) only property of Access Bank Plc.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, Nnemeka Omewa, urged the court to allow his trial begin immediately and, remand the defendant in prison custody pending the determination of the charges levelled against him.

However, counsel to the defendant, John Dong, informed the court of a pending application for bail on behalf of his client.

He, therefore, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail.

Consequently, Justice Williams granted the defendant bail in the sum of N5million with two sureties in like sum.

One of the sureties must be a relation to the defendant and must own a landed property within the jurisdiction of the court.

Thereafter, Justice Williams asked the prosecution counsel to call his witness in the matter.

Led by Omewa, the first prosecution witness, PW1, Chuks Igboerika, a manager with Access Bank Plc, revealed to the court how the defendant had approached the bank sometime in March, 2017 for the issuance of a POS terminal.

PW1 said the defendant had requested that the POS machine should be enabled in such a way that it would accept international cards, which he was eventually granted.

The witness further told the court that the defendant started receiving huge inflows into his account through his international cards on July 30, 2017.

He also said that the defendant consistently received money from July, 2017 to September 18, 2017 to the tune of N1.2billion.

“When we discovered how money was being credited into Ifeanyi’s account with Access Bank, he was engaged by the Relationship Team Unit of Access Bank to know the nature of the work he did that could have warranted the large sums of money that he had in his account. He told the team that he deals in ‘Precious Stone’, in addition to dealing in automobile parts. He also said that his customers were foreigners.”

“As the money came into his account, he transferred some into different bank accounts. He has so far transferred N508million to other banks, leaving a credit of about N677million in the account with Access Bank”, the witness said.

In his further evidence, PW1 also told the court that Access Bank received a mail from Interswitch in which it made declaration of fraud in the transactions of POS belonging to the defendant and the fact that there was no authorization for the transactions from the legitimate owners of the money involved.

Investigations, however, revealed that the defendant carried out the transactions with the VISA International Card.

Also, investigation revealed that when the bank asked the defendant to produce the POS machine issued to him, he said it was not with him.

It was also revealed that when Access Bank asked Interswitch to produce ‘chargebacks’-complaints from the persons who lost money so as to declare the transactions fraudulent, it could not produce any.

Giving further testimony, the witness told the court that “the loophole was discovered by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, after Access Bank reported the transactions.

“It was revealed that Interswitch was hoarding the debits entries in its system records without passing the entries to the appropriate channels, which were the real card holders who have allegedly parted with their money.

“An international POS transaction must go through Interswitch, then to the card issuing company which, in this case, is VISA Card. Then, the transaction must reflect to the card holder and go back through the same channel to the bank before a transaction can be confirmed approved.

“And if a transaction was declined or not approved, it goes through the same channel. But in this case, it was discovered by CBN that the transactions done by the defendant started and ended between the defendant and Interswitch.”

The witness told the court that all the authorized companies; VISA Card, Unified Payment System, Interswitch, CBN, and Access bank involved in an international POS transaction were invited to review the fraud independently.

“They all came to the verdict that the fraudulent transactions done by the defendant were debited from Access Bank authorized by Interswitch.

In view of this, the prosecution counsel, Omewa, sought to tender the petition written to EFCC against the defendant and the defendant’s statement of account.
Both documents were admitted in evidence as exhibits by the court.

During cross-examination by the defence counsel, the witness told the court that it was at the point of interrogation that the defendant told the bank what he does for a living.

But the defence counsel pointed out that it was wrong of a financial institution to have failed to do that from the outset.

The case was adjourned to April 23 and 27, 2018 for continuation of trial.

The Ogun State Police command has arrested a 36-year-old man, Owolabi Musiliu, over the alleged mysterious death of his lover, Fausat Idowu.

The suspect, who is a mechanic at the Mechanic Village in the Camp Area of Abeokuta, was alleged to have taken 40-year-old Fausat, a divorcee and mother of four, to a hotel in Abeokuta for sexual pleasure when she fell ill and died mysteriously.

In a brief interview with journalists when he was paraded by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Ahmed Iliyasu, on Friday, Musiliu, a father of three, explained that it was the first time he and the deceased attempted to have sexual intercourse since they started dating about six months ago.

Musiliu added that they were just removing their clothes, when the deceased suddenly had a temperature and later slumped.

He added that it was when he was taking her to the hospital in his vehicle that he discovered that she had died .

The police commissioner said the suspect failed to report the incident either to the police or the deceased’s family but buried the remains in a shallow grave at Osara Village, close to the deceased’s house, off Abeokuta-Ibadan Expressway .

He said it was when the suspect was arrested that he led the police to the shallow grave in an uncompleted building, where he buried the victim in Osara.

When asked why he did not inform the police or the family of the deceased, the suspect said he was afraid, so he decided to hide the corpse and he later buried her at midnight.

Iliyasu explained that the deceased’s younger brother, Hammed Idowu, had on February 1, 2018 reported to the police that the deceased had gone to attend a christening at Bode Olude Area but did not return home .

On the strength of the report, Iliyasu said detectives at the Homicide Section, were detailed to investigate the matter. He said intelligence-based investigation and profiling of the deceased’ s telephone call log revealed that the suspect was the last person she spoke with.

He said the suspect was later tracked down and apprehended on March 19, 2018. He said the suspect admitted that he knew the corpse and had buried her after she died mysteriously.

Iliyasu said,

“On interrogation , the suspect admitted taking the deceased to a hotel at Iyana -Apakila, Abeokuta, for pleasure, where he claimed she fell ill. He said he took her in his vehicle but she died in the car mysteriously.

“He further confessed that he took the corpse to a nearby bush, dug a shallow grave and buried it without disclosing same to anybody.

This made the circumstances of her death mysterious as well as questionable, which is condemnable . The suspect will soon be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.”

He begged me to suck his breast, I said no. When he was done, he pleaded with me not to tell anyone but when I got home, I couldn’t keep it to myself. So I told my parents, who got the Police involved.”

A Bobrisky wannabe has been caught at a nightclub.

He disguised as a lady in order to probably “flex” at the club and perhaps swindle unsuspecting men in the process.

According to multiple online reports, the man was caught in a nightclub after eating Sharwama, Suya and consuming enough beer.

He was humiliated and disgraced after his act was uncovered as his photos were taken to show his real manhood.

A Facebook user who lives in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, Simeon Nsirim Chukwu shared the pictures and wrote;

“Please our young men should beware of who they mingle at night with.

“This young man who disguise himself as a woman was caught in a night club after eating sharwama, suya and consuming enough beer. Poverty in the land.”

In a rather rare version of events two of Nigeria’s most followed Instagram models have told their followers that they will be launching an explicit premium service.

Subscribers will have to pay the sum of 15,000 naira weekly to gain access to this service; what they get in return is, assess to these model’s “nudity, sex toys and of course, le…..n sex” (which we will assume is a shabby attempt at finding a discreet way to write “lesbian sex).

Popular IG queen Peace Olayemi

According to an advertorial posted via their Instagram stories, the models will host the live sessions on their Instagram profiles.

Recall that the first time “setting up a premium account” for explicit activities was male Barbie doll, Bobrisky’s failed attempt at climbing into exclusivity.

If the effeminate’s foray into premium content showed anything, it is that there are Nigerians who will pay for what they want, regardless of how overpriced it is.
These models have sizeable followings too, one with close to 68,000 followers.

Instead of trying to convince an entirely new selection of people, they have a pool of familiar people to choose from.

Some of these will convert into paying followers by default. All of this is conjecture, of course. Either way, sex now sells on Instagram for 15k naira a week.
Also popular social media platform, Snap is not left out as Nigerians and even Ghanians have taken to it to sell their trade.

A renowned legal practitioner and public interest litigation expert, Tunji Salawu, Esq has given several grounds to why his clients have resolved to drag the Globacom, operators of Glo telecommunications to court.

He also instituted a N50 billion legal action against the suit at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) via suit number (NICN/ABJ/75/2018).

In the statement of facts establishing the cause of action obtained by newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, 20th March, 2018, the sacked female workers pointed out that, they were employed by the Defendants between 2003 and 2008, and have individually put in between average of 7 to 15 years in the employment of the Defendants.

They wondered why dedicated staff who have impacted positively on the fortunes of the company could be sacked with a wave of the hand on the flimsy reason bothering on their marital status.

It could be recalled that, Public Interest Litigation Initiative (PILI) only last week informed of its decision to take up the matter in order to restore and enforce the fundamental human rights of the affected female staff of the telecommunications company.

In that statement, the Executive Director of PILI, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba said: “It is disheartening to hear that these particular set of female staff who have worked very hard to take the company to the height it has attained today could be treated in a needlessly reckless manner. We at PILI find this unacceptable and have taken a legal action to challenge this glitch.

“It is going to be a legal fight to the finish until and unless very urgent and responsible steps are taken by Globacom to restate them back to their various positions with full benefits in addition to paying damages to them for distorting their career path or progress.

The legal statement said the Claimants plead and rely on their various letters of employment as employees in the management cadres at Gloworld department, the retail arm of Globacom Limited with branches and outlets all over Nigeria.

Sections of the statements read: “The Claimants are all married women in the Gloworld Department, (a customer facing unit) of the Globacom Limited.

“The Claimants were all employed as single females but later had changes of Marital Status in the course of their employment.

“Throughout the length of their services with the Defendants, the Claimants performed the job specification to their best of abilities and were never found wanting by the Defendants and

“In fact, the Claimant had variously been promoted and earned commendations of the Defendants”.

Other facts supplied include:

“The Claimants have continued to work diligently until, 8th March, 2018, a day set aside globally as “Women’s Day” when they got a shocking gifts from Defendants in premeditated sack letters, terminating their employments. The Claimants plead and shall rely on the respective letters of termination of employments at the trial.

“The Claimants state that the purported letters of termination of appointment violated the terms and conditions of service of the employees of the defendants. The Claimants plead and shall rely on the conditions of service of the Defendants at the trial. Notice is hereby given to the defendants to produce the conditions of service and staff handbook manual at the trial.

“The Claimants state that the purported termination of their employments was premeditated discriminatory and in bad faith as can be deduced from the cumulative events leadings to the termination”.

According to document, sometime in July, 2017, the Defendants embarked on what was termed staff profiling of all the Gloworld staff, wherein they requested for the following particulars of the staff, among others; full length and portrait picture, passport photograph, date of birth, marital status and length of service at the Globacom Limited despite that all the above information was available to the Human Resources Department of the Defendants, the Claimants nevertheless complied with the request and forwarded their details.

Again, in January, 2018, the Executive Director, (Legal) of the 1st defendant, Mrs Gladis Talabi, Jumoke Aduwo, Human Resources Manager and the regional managers of Gloworld went round all the branches nationwide to “see” all Gloworld staff and conduct “physical verification”, wherein the following personal questions were asked: are you married? How many children do you have? How long have you been in the system? Etc. The staff were further asked to file out for physical examination and have their photographs taker by lined photographers, it added.

The details of other grounds are:

“The Claimants state that the employment processes of the Defendants were conducted in violation of the rights of the applicants to human dignity as often, shortlisted candidates after successful interviews with the Globacom Human Resources personnel’s were further made to face personal interview by the Chairman of the Globacom Dr. Mike Adenuga, where they were advised to look nice, make up well, wear push up bras, chest out, wear miniskirts, a well manicured nails and generally look sexy for the interview with the Chairman.

“After all the rigors of the interview, the successful applicants were given letters of employment through various agencies of the Defendant, such as Contact Centre Services Limited, Vixen Enterprises, Umbrella Limited, Blue Moon Ventures, Dragnet Limited, etc. All affliates of the 1st Defendant.

“Sometime in 2008, the 2nd defendant, Global Manpower Limited (GML) was introduced to the Claimants who were made to sign over their appointments to the agency under duress and without opportunity to read and understand the contract.

“The Claimants state that they were not even avail with a copy of the new contract signed with the 2nd Defendant.

“Again sometime in 2012, the Claimants were made to sign a bond that they would remain in remain in the employment of Globacom Limited for a certain number of Years and any dissengament of staff within the period either voluntarily or by default of the defendant would attract a penalty of 10 Million Naira. The claimant plead and shall rely on the copy of the bond at the trial. The Defendants are hereby given notice to produce the original bond at the trial.

“Furthermore, in 2016, the Claimants, are Gloworld Managers and Stock Controllers were made to bring two guarantors such as bank Managers, Clergymen, High networth individual and level 14 and above Civil Servants. The guarantors were made to provide a blank signed but undated cheques and ittle documents of landed properties in choice locations as well as letters of introduction from banks. The Claimants pleads and shall rely on copies of the said guarantors bond at the trial.

“Those who were unable to meet up with deadlines for the submission of the guarantors had their salaries withheld till they were able to meet up.

“The Claimants state that those documents and bonds including the signed but undated cheques are still in possession of the defendants till date.

“The Claimants state that due to the bond entered with the Defendants they have had to stay back from several job opportunities.

“The Claimants state that sequel to the termination of their appointments, the defendants paid one month salary and unpaid leave allowance into the accounts of the Claimants, leaving out pending Domestic Travel Allowances (DTAS), pending relocation allowances and outstanding float retirements purportedly in lieu of the notice of termination.

“The Claimants also state that the payment of one month salary in lieu of notice is contrary to the 60 days notice required under the condition of service.

“The Claimants state further that the defendants failed to remit their pension contribution as well as tax deductions to the relevant tax agencies and pension managers.

“The Claimants reasonably believe that the mass retrenchment was target against them as married women, because about 97% of the staff whose employment were terminated and laid off are married women.

“The Claimants positions were immediately filled by single female and male staff.

“The Claimants while contending that the purported termination of their employments by the defendants was unlawful, also aver that their rights as married women have been seriously trampled upon by the Defendants.

It has been alleged that a 9-year-old girl was consistently abused by an official of the Federal Road Safety Corp in Benue state. According to an online report, the FRSC official was caught unclad in the car on top of the young girl. After the act was exposed to the girl's father, he took the child to the hospital and had necessary tests run on her which confirmed that the child had been raped.

Read the detailed report shared by Ukan Kurugh on Facebook;

I had a chat with Mr. A. The father of the 9year old girl who was been consistently abused by a mature man who is a staff of the Federal Road Safety Corp. The man opened up for the first time and told me exactly what happened. And efforts he has made so far.

He said on the 25th of Feb. This year at about 7pm. He had come back from a trip and was about taking a bath. When his neighbor Mrs. Charles Ali, walked in with one Miss C. (a groundnut hawker) Mrs. Charles walked into the compound and pointed at Mr. A, the victims father, and said "this is the girl's father"

At this point, Mr. Ali also came in and Mrs Ali told Mr. A that Miss C said she caught Mr. Ali Unclad in the car on top of the victim.

Mrs Ali was telling her husband, Mr. Ali that she had repeatedly warned him but he didn't listen and now he has been caught.

Mr. Ali, attempted to deny the allegation but Little Miss C (the groundnut hawker) kept insisting; "You did it, I saw you"
A neighbour, Mr. Moses Terngu came in at this point and told the father of the victim in Tiv, that he intended leaving the scene but his conscience won't free him. He told him that he had seen Mr. Ali, begging Miss C not to let people hear what has happened. He said Mr. Ali even assumed the little girl was Tiv like Mr. Moses and said "beg her not to let the matter go out, she is your tribe girl" He knew from then that something was wrong. A man will not beg one to keep a thing secret except he is guilty.

The father of the victim asked Mr. Moses to repeat what he had just told him in English so that the neighbors who had gathered who weren't Tiv would also hear it and he did.

He told them how he saw Little Miss C. And Mr. Ali arguing for a long time. Mr Ali was denying and begging her not reveal what has happened but the little girl braved through. Insisting that she had seen Mr. Ali very well and that he did it.

Mr. Ali later began to apologize, but he wouldn't say what he has done that he was apologizing for. And he even started crying.

Because the father was too shocked and probably too distraught at the time, he asked his neighbor to help talk to the daughter and she confirmed it actually happened.

He took the child to the hospital and had necessary tests run on her and they were released after about a week. The tests also confirmed that the child had been raped.

On the 26th, around 4:47am, Mr. Ali and wife came knocking on their door with their little baby. Mr. A the victim's father told his wife he would record the conversation, he attempted to, but because the culprit was already apprehensive, he spoke in hush tones and the record couldn't come out clearly. But he admitted in his apology that he actually did it and asked to be forgiven.

The father of the child victim reported the matter to the National Human Rights Commission but according to him, he was asked to write a formal complaint and he did, but no action was taken.

Mr. Ali wouldn't stop begging, he even brought his pastor, a pastor of The Glory of his Majesty to plead on his behalf. The pastor pleaded that he should be forgiven, he had done the act but was pleading and so he should be pardoned.

But all these was however after attempts to accuse the wife of conniving with the little miss C to tarnish his image and also his inability to craftily blame it on the devil and evil spirits.

The father again took the matter to NAPTIP but according to him, he was rejected the first time. It was after a contact had been given to him that he went back and a formal statement was taken.

It was found out during the usual questions asked that the act had been going on since the child was 8years old.
Mr Ali was arrested and detained but since the offence is a bailable offence, he has been released on bail. The matter is yet to go to court as investigations are still ongoing.

As at the time I had this interview with the victim's father, he was quite angry and felt frustrated that this evil committed against his child will be allowed to go unpunished.
