Leicester City have confirmed chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was among five people killed in a helicopter crash on Saturday night.

The 60-year-old Thai businessman was on board his own personal helicopter, which lost control and crashed in a car park at the King Power Stadium following Saturday's match against West Ham.

A Leicester club statement read: "It is with the deepest regret and a collective broken heart that we confirm our chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was among those to have tragically lost their lives on Saturday evening when a helicopter carrying him and four other people crashed outside King Power Stadium.

"None of the five people on board survived.

"The primary thoughts of everyone at the club are with the Srivaddhanaprabha family and the families of all those on-board at this time of unspeakable loss.

"In Khun Vichai, the world has lost a great man.

"A man of kindness, of generosity and a man whose life was defined by the love he devoted to his family and those he so successfully led. Leicester City was a family under his leadership.

"It is as a family that we will grieve his passing and maintain the pursuit of a vision for the club that is now his legacy."

The Nigerian Army has been ordered by a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Friday ordered the to pay the sum of N1.25million to Nollywood actress Ebere Ohakwe as compensation after she was beaten up by men of the Nigerian Army in February 2017.


They were also ordered to publish a written apology in at least two national dailies to the actress, Punch Metro reports.

Ohakwe, popularly known as Jewel Infinity, was travelling in a public bus from Port Harcourt, Rivers State to Onitsha, Anambra State when operatives of the Nigerian Army stationed at Omagwa axis of the Port Harcourt Airport Road stopped the vehicle for a routine stop-and-search and, in the process, physically assaulted her.

The Federal High Court presided over by Justice Adamu Mohammed had earlier ruled on the matter in March 2018.

Mohammed had ordered the defendants (Nigerian Army) to pay the sum of N1m to the plaintiff as compensation for infringing on her fundamental human rights.

But the Nigerian Army through its counsel filed an application to the court to set aside the judgment and resume fresh hearing.

Counsel for the plaintiff, Chime Chime, in a counter-application, urged the court to dismiss the defendant’s submission.

Mohammed, however, struck out the application of the Nigerian Army, stating that it lacked merit.

The judge awarded N250,000 against the defendants in addition to N1m the security outfit was expected to pay to the victim, as well as a written apology to her to be published in at least two national dailies.

The Leicester City owner's helicopter has crashed in a car park outside the club's ground as it left the stadium following a Premier League match.

in the helicopter when it came down at about 20:30 BST on Saturday, a source close to the family has told the BBC.

One witness said he saw Leicester player Kasper Schmeichel run out of the stadium towards the scene of the crash.

Leicester had drawn 1-1 against West Ham United at the King Power Stadium, with the match finishing about one hour before the helicopter took off from the pitch.

Witnesses said they saw it just clear the stadium before it spiralled out of control, with some describing seeing a fireball as it crashed.

The club said it was assisting police and emergency services and would issue a more detailed statement in due course.

Under Mr Srivaddhanaprabha's ownership, Leicester City won the Premier League in 2016, having started the season as 5,000/1 outsiders.

A helicopter owned by Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has burst into flames after it crashed outside the King Power stadium this evening.

Fans and players broke down in tears as flames were visible from the stadium concourse.

It is unclear how many people were on board the aircraft at the time of the crash.

Eyewitness said that the helicopter took off as normal from the centre circle and was hovering over the south east corner of the ground before spluttering and spiralling to ground, near Filbert Way and bursting into flames.

Mr Srivaddhanaprabha's helicopter and his entourage leaving the King Power by helicopter has become a familar sight as he frequently takes off from the centre circle of Leicester's ground.

Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha is believed to be the only family member who attended the 1-1 draw on Saturday night.

Tim Acott, Leicester season ticket holder of 40 years, said: ‘It just came out of the stadium already spinning then down to the ground.

'Just in a spiral. It hit the ground with a big bang then burst into flames. It’s over on the other side of the car park, I don’t think there were people there. I’m shaking like anything.’

The area around the ground has been closed off, while the stadium has been evacuated. West Ham's team bus had already left, though some Leicester players were still inside the stadium.

Leicester City defender Harry Maguire tweeted a video of the aftermath of the crash with praying hands emojis.

Five-year-old twins dies after mother allegedly left them home unattended to as they were both consumed by the fire that razed their building in Calabar, the Cross River state capital on Monday, October 22, 2018, Brainnews report.

Findings revealed that the woman left a candle on the refrigerator in her room at 9 Edem Okon Street, II Transformer Inyanasang in Calabar, in the early hours of Monday, which later ignited a fire that consumed her two sons, Bishop and Ituobong and the building.

A neighbour and victim, Mr Daniel Udoh, said the tragedy was quite unfortunate and could have been avoided but for the carelessness of the mother of the children. His words: “Their mother made them tea and bread and left for her boyfriend’s house leaving a candlelight on the refrigerator and asked them to off the candle when they were done but they slept off. “I started noticing smoke at about 1am and before I could come out with my son my house was already in flames from the roof while the woman’s room was already engulfed in fire.

“We tried putting off the fire but it was very difficult because of the rubber ceiling(PVC) which eventually escalated the fire that took over the entire compound. I had no choice than to leave the place, I didn’t come out with a pin, I lost everything in the fire,” he said. Another resident, Mrs Gloria Asuquo, said the lady who fries yam and beans cake(akara), left her only children in the house to meet a lover.

The mother of twins was later beaten to near death by angry mob on Tuesday, but due to police intervention her life was spared.

Brainnews also learn that the said mother of Twins had separated from her boyfriend so as to have more time for her outside boyfriend which from reliable source said that the separation was due to ‘lack of sexual satisfaction.’

The General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr. D.K. Olukoya, has filed a N2 billion suit against Sahara Reporters Publisher Mr. Omoyele Sowore for defamation of character. In the suit filed before the High Court of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo, Sahara Reporters Incorporation and  Objective Media Group Limited were listed as the 2nd and 3rd defendants.


 The clergyman in the court papers, accused Sowore of consistently churning out publications that are defamatory to his person. Olukoya and his church are claiming N2 billion against the defendants for alleged aggravated libel and have asked the courty for order compelling Sowore and his media platforms to pull down and erase each of the offending posts from the internet forthwith.

 They are also praying for an order directing the defendants to tender written apology and retraction in form and content acceptable to the claimants and published prominently in Sahara Reporters online news media, on Facebook and in at least three nationally circulating newspapers and two international magazines, including TIME International.

 In addition, the clergyman is asking the court to issiue an order of  perpetual injunction restraining the defendants by themselves, his agents, servants, privies or other persons howsoever called or described, from further making, publishing and/or disseminating libellous stories and statements against the claimants or any one of them.

 In the court papers, the clergyman alleged that Sowore and Sahara Reporters on September 4th, 2018, made and posted a video recording of Sowore addressing a crowd of his purported political supporters on their respective Facebook pages under the heading “Breaking! Sowore Reveals Why MFM General Overseer Daniel Olukoya Is After Him, as He Arrives Lagos”. The video was published after the clergyman had filed a seperate suit against Sowore and Sahara reporters.

 In the said video, Sowore was alleged to have falsely and maliciously said to have spoken and published against the the clergyman and his church the following words inter alia namely: “On Olukoya, very important because this is the latest that happened. I have done reporting on many cabals and you know in this country there are religious cabals, political cabals, traditional cabals and family cabals so I touched all of them not only Olukoya.  Remember the one that was sleeping with a prostitute in Canada… It was then that he then  went and looked for a Judge in Uyo. Imagine a man of God that is on Lagos – Ibadan Expressway now going to look for a judge in a case that doesn’t even involve them. My suspicion is that they found a judge who is probably a member of their Church who said that he will teach Sowore a lesson. That is not going to happen…”

 Recall that in August, Olukoya had filed a N10 billion libel suit against the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, Sahara Reporters Incorporated and the Incorporated Trustees of Sahara Media Foundation, demanding N10bn in damages for their failure to desist from publishing false and malicious articles against him and his church, MFM, since 2013. The suit was filed before the Akwa Ibom state High court in Uyo. Read here.

 No date has been fixed for hearing on the N2 billion libel suit.

Meaning that you can't drive 200m in Festac without slowing to near stop, hold your breath and navigate through potholes that are better described as wells. When we say potholes, we don't mean scrapes and scratches. We are talking about ditches and wells that you CANNOT dodge. Yet the current local government chairman lives and works in Festac.

But these holes can be patched with hardcore which is relatively cheap. Maybe he is enjoying the new name Festac is acquiring: Pothole Estate. Well, in that case, Mr. Vincent Buraimoh is the King of Potholes.

We are asking Mr. Vincent Buraimoh to do what he promised. Because the once beautiful Festac that hosted the black arts festival in 1977 has become an eyesore and a shadow of its former self.

The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has denied having an extramarital affair with one Elizabeth Odunlami, who, recently, took to Facebook, to claim that the king promised her marriage and used her name for business transactions.

However, in a statement signed by the palace’s director, media & public affairs, Moses Olafare, on Wednesday, the monarch denied the allegations.

“While we sympathise with Miss Elizabeth Odunlami (if the identity is real) who obviously has become a victim of a fraudlent act perpetrated by a scammer disguising to be Ooni Ogunwusi, we find it pertinent to debunk this sacrilegious and unfounded allegation which is not unlikely to be another calculated ploy adopted by some unprovoked detractors using psseudo-identities.

The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has reacted to allegations that he was in cahoots with some governors of the All Progressives Congress to remove the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomole.

 While denying any involvement in any attempt to remove the former Edo State governor, Mr Akeredolu accused Mr Oshiomhole of exhibiting incompetence in the handling of the party’s recently concluded primaries across the country.

 In a statement by his Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties and Strategy, Doyin Odebowale, Mr Akeredolu said APC primaries exposed the incompetence of Mr Oshiomhole. He described the exercise as a “political charade” and a revelation of “a shocking proclivity towards banditry and impunity.”

 He asserted that recent events had justified his opposition to Mr Oshiomhole’s election as party chairman.

 A group of party members staged a protest at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja on Tuesday alleging that Mr Akeredolu and other “conservative” governors were planning to remove Mr Oshiomole and scuttle the efforts of the party towards winning the 2019 general election.

 The group pointedly described the Ondo State governor as a mole in the APC, whose recent actions could result in Buhari losing Ondo State.

 The crises in the APC followed the outcome of the conduct of the governorship and national assembly primaries across the country, where the National Working Committee seems to have undermined the powers and influence of the governors.

 A number of governors protested against the final list of candidates approved by the Oshiomole-led NWC, and had called on President Buhari to intervene to reverse the trend.

 Mr Akerdolu is particularly livid over the failure of some of his preferred candidates to make the list of candidates to be fielded by the party in the Senate and House of Representatives, despite being in firm control of the party machinery in the state.

 Mr Akeredolu said those who feel aggrieved reserve the right to demand justice, including calling for Mr Oshiomhole’s removal.

 The governor, however, restated his commitment to work “assiduously” for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election, who he said is loved by the people of Ondo State.

 Referring to the protest in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr Akeredolu described the organisers of the protest as “opportunists,” and denied that he led governors of Ogun, Kaduna Adamawa and Ekiti States against Mr Oshiomhole’s leadership.

 He said he found the report laughable and distracting, adding that as a fiercely independent personality, he was not about to change his attitude to please any person or a group of persons.

 “There is no truth in the whole contrivance. The governor has been pre-occupied with matters of governance in Ondo State for which he was elected,” the statement said.

 Mr Akeredolu recalled his “noble interventions” as Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) president at critical moments in the cause of the “progressives”, including in restoring Mr Oshiomhole’s stolen mandate.

 “The governor had expressed preference for someone else during the contest for the office of the Chairman of the Party,” the statement further read.

 “He did not hide his opposition to Mr Oshiomole’s aspiration for the simple reason that the leadership of a party, especially the one just emerging from a merger, should distance itself from egregious and inherently destructive narcissism.

 “Recent events seem to justify this position as prescient. Only sycophants will fail to see the obvious. Mr President would not have expressed worries over the crises in the party if everything had gone on smoothly.

 “The handlers of the mob strive in vain to set the lresident against certain government functionaries considered antagonistic to their pernicious scheme for dominance.

 “Their devious plot to outsmart those perceived as opposing their expansionist tendency compelled them to take desperate measures. Anyone endowed with an attitude of sobriety should have seen the need for calm.

 “Rather than retrace their steps and display genuine contrition, their desperation pushes them to embrace measures capable of not only hurting the party, but, regrettably, the president, whom they pretend to love so much.”

 Mr Akeredolu said it was ludicrous that anyone would consider him a conservative.

 “Those who collected varying and humongous amounts as fees from aspirants during the last grandiose charade called primaries and submitted names dictated to them by a cabal, notorious for capturing political power for unbridled pillage, should be bold to explain their real motives to the people. They should be honest enough to deal with the issues,” the statement added.

 “Events, which took place across the country during the political charade, have exposed not only sheer incompetence on the part of the national leadership of the party, but painfully, it has revealed a shocking proclivity towards banditry and impunity.

 “It is becoming clear, increasingly, that party leadership at that level is seriously challenged in terms of capacity for serious engagements.

 “Arakunrin Akeredolu, SAN, does not need to move from ‘North’ to ‘South’ to collect signatures from victims of electoral heist. He was in Ondo State throughout last week.

 “He was at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, to deliver a lecture on restructuring a few days ago. He is at presently in Canada on a working visit.

 “Only the mob and their hirers can explain the imagined movement from North to South. However, those who feel aggrieved reserve the right to demand that justice be done. If this includes the removal of Mr Oshiomole, so be it.

 “May we seize this opportunity to reiterate the fact that the people of Ondo State are favourably disposed to the second term bid of Mr President.

 “Our people are unique; they are unwavering in their support for justice. They alone determine what is in their best interest at all times. The President is loved by the people of Ondo State.

 “All of us shall work, assiduously, for the President’s victory at the polls next year. We do not need any band of mendicants ready for hire to remind us of this sacred patriotic duty.”

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, says Nigerian workers should be clapping for the Buhari administration because it has done well for them.

 Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Ngige said the Buhari administration has been able to manage the welfare of workers in the country better than other administrations.

 “Many people will not remember very quickly. In the military government, at a time, there was an embargo on employment; even embargo on promotions. When people go, the vacancies are there and the monies are returned to the coffers of the government. We are not doing so and I thought Nigerian workers should be clapping for us for that. We are promoting them (workers) as we speak; we are replacing those who have left. In fact, when people leave on high grades, we do what is called suppression and get more (people) on the lower grades. The Presidency doesn’t want anybody to be laid off; this President.” he said

 The Minister went on to say President Buhari is very concerned about the welfare of workers because he was part of them, as a soldier. He said the Buhari administration has recruited 30,000 policemen and thousands of workers into various parastatals of the government.

Industrial crisis appears imminent as governors have announced that they would not be able to afford the agreed national minimum wage.

Governors under the aegis of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), who met on Wednesday night in Abuja, said though they were not against the upward review of the national minimum wage, they lacked the ability to pay the proposed N24,000.

Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige had last week told reporters that while Labour unions were demanding N30,000 per month, Federal Government proposed N24,000 and state governors N20,000.

However, it is doubtful if the leadership of the labour unions would accept the N24, 000, which they claimed was “unilaterally” adopted by the Federal Government.

Indication to that effect emerged as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has summoned an emergency meeting for next week to take a decision.

Chairman of NGF and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, who briefed journalists on the outcome of the meeting, disclosed that the governors also met with the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba, who briefed them on how many states complied with the agreement signed to clear salary arrears.


According to him, the issue was not just on agreed figure to be paid by the governors, but the “ability or resources to take care of that agreed minimum wage.”

Asked whether the issue of minimum wage was part of the agenda of the meeting, Yari said: “We didn’t discuss minimum wage because that is in the hands of the Federal Government, because it is on the Exclusive List. But like we said, we can do minimum wage on any amount we need but the issue is the ability to pay the minimum wage agreed. In the last meeting which the minister of Labour attended with the negotiation committee and also the committee that we also set up, we made it clear that we are not against the upward review of salary, we are in tandem with the NLC to get the minimum wage reviewed but the problem we are having is the capacity to pay what is agreed.


“As at today, most of the states are struggling to pay the N18,000 minimum wage. Some states are paying between 35 to 50 percent of the minimum wage and some states are owing salary. Ifwesaywearegoingtodo anupward reviewof the minimum wage, it is not about only reviewing it but how we are going to get the resources to cater for it.”

On the Paris Club refund which the Federal Government disbursed to states on the condition that they use larger percentage of the money to pay workers’ salaries, Yari said while some states had recorded some progress in line with the condition they signed with the Federal Government, others were still owing arrears

“We invited the national president of NLC to give us details on how some states performed. Some other states that are not up to date, where are they?

“So they have signed Memorandum of Understanding with the NLC at the national level and their representative in states on when they are going to overcome the issue of salary arrears.

“That has been done and it has been taken to the Central Bank (of Nigeria) governor to ensure that those states were also paid.”

However, the National Economic Council (NEC), which met yesterday failed to discuss the issue of a new national minimum wage despite threat by workers to embark on an indefinite strike.

According to Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar who briefed the press, “the issue of minimum wage was not discussed at NEC today.”

“Unfortunately that was not discussed at the National Economic Council meeting. Secondly, governors are part and parcel of the negotiation. The governors have not taken a decision either way because its a negotiating process and it’s still ongoing. We are represented by six governors in the committee. It’s a work in progress and am sure we will get to the promised land,” he stated.


On Wednesday, General Secretary of NLC, Peter Ozo-Esan, told an online media that the committee set up by the workers’ union had adopted (through a motion) to recommend N30,000 as minimum wage. According to him, the motion was moved and seconded by members from the labour union and the employers’ representatives.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on October 10 after Federal Executive Council meeting had refuted media reports quoting Wabba as saying that the tripartite committee discussing the demand for new minimum wage had agreed to increase it from the current N19,200 to N30,000.

“Such information is not true,” he said.

Ozo-Esan insisted that the tripartite committee adopted a figure and “that is the only relevant thing in the issue.

“If Ngige is manufacturing something that was not agreed at the table, that is his problem. We have called our organs for an emergency meeting that will hold next week and the next step will be taken from there,” he said.

National President of United Labour Congress (ULC), Joe Ajaero, on October 16, said labour would not sign any agreement with the Federal Government on new national minimum wage if it was below N30,000.

NLC which had initially demanded a N50,000 minimum wage for workers, called out workers on a one week warning strike a fortnight ago.

Nigerian model, Seun Ajila, who was raped and murdered at her family house at Sunday bus stop in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Thursday, October 4th, has been buried.
Seun who is the only child of her 60-year-old mum, was laid to rest today October 18th.
Seun was said to be home when her killer came in and murdered her. Her boyfriend, Adejimola Ebenezer, has since been arrested and is being interrogated over the murder. Ebenezer has however denied having anything to do with her murder. He said they had no issues that would warrant him taking the life of the lady whom he professes love to.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Kaduna Zonal office has investigated a case of conspiracy and theft reported to the Commission by an exceptional father.

The father (name witheld) in April 2017 became a whistle blower after his son (then a secondary school student) intimated him that he had bought a house and a shop valued over N2 Million (Two Million Naira) only.

The information of the purchase shocked the father beyond his imagination as such he decided to make a formal complain to the Commission having perceived signs of fraud from his son's explanantion of how he got the money.

His son, Adamu, said he got the money through his phone line which after purchase he began receiving alerts running into millions of Naira.

Investigations into the matter began immediately and all parties involved were invited accordingly and their statements were taken as the principal accused person mentioned two other accomplicies in the crime.

In the course of investigations, it was discovered that Adamu withdrew monies in bits from a First Bank account number 3033389599 owned by one Porong Daniel Nash (a farmer in plateau state); and credited same to different accounts.

Consequently, all accused persons where arrested and recoveries were made to the tune of N939,000 (Nine Hundred and Thirty Nine Thousand Naira) only of which same was returned to the rightful owner by the Zonal Office.

Due to the pension reforms initiated by President Buhari, formerly neglected Pensioners have started receiving their pensions through the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD). We know that an announcement for verification of these pensioners was issued last week and verification duely commenced along with payment.

These are Pensioners who have been neglected by Previous governments. They have not been paid any pensions for the past 13 to 20 years but today, all that has changed through the administration of President Buhari.
