A 28-year-old teacher, Idowu Daniel, who teaches Computer Science at the Anatasia Comprehensive College in the Abule-Egba area of the state, has been arrested by men of the Lagos state police command for allegedly raping one of his female students inside the school’s biology laboratory.

According to police report, Daniel first made sexual advances at the victim on Thursday June 27th when he asked her to come to the laboratory where he told her that she failed the Computer and Mathematics examinations and promised to increase her marks if she had sex with him. He allegedly made sexual overtures at her and even fondled her breasts. The victim stormed out of the laboratory in anger. The next day Friday June 28th, Daniel again ordered the victim to come to the laboratory. There he locked the door and allegedly had sex with her forcefully. Three days later, Daniel allegedly called for her to come and see him in the laboratory. There he demanded for sex again.

The victim reported the matter to the school principal and he was arrested by men of the Isokoko division, Agege, Lagos.

Narrating what happened to the police, the victim said

“On Thursday June 27, 2019, my computer science teacher sent a pupil to me to bring my note to the biology lab. As he was marking the note, he stopped and started pressing my breasts. I told him I didn’t like it and he asked me to go.

“On Friday, he sent another pupil to me that I should bring my note to the lab. When I got there, he stood up and closed the door. I asked him why he locked the door, but he did not say anything. He went back to his seat and started marking my note. Before I knew what was happening, he grabbed me from the back.

He covered my mouth and raped me. He then asked me to go. On Monday, he asked me to bring my computer science note again to the chemistry lab. He said if I allowed him to have sex with me again, he would increase my marks in both mathematics and computer science exams. He said I did not perform well in his subject. I told him that I was not interested.”

The victim told the police that Daniel threatened to deal with her if she ever reported him to the police. She however summoned up courage and informed the principal of all that has been happening to her.

The suspect however denied having sex with her. He claimed he only fondled her breasts. According to him, a male student named Samuel had initially reported her to him with claims that she exposed her breasts to male students in class.

“While I was at the principal’s office, showing the principal the reshuffled examination timetable, she came for the marking of her note. I said I was busy and she waited for me outside.  As I was going to the staff room, she walked up to me and presented her book for marking. I stopped by at the biology laboratory to mark it and I asked her about what Samuel told me. She initially kept mute. When I said I would report her to her parents, she confirmed that what the boy told me was true.

I sent for her the next day and she came. I tried to have sex with her but I couldn’t penetrate. I asked her whether she was a virgin and she said yes. I felt for her being a virgin and I stopped. I was at home when policemen came to ask for me. They took me to the school and accused me of rape. I accepted that I touched her breasts, but I didn’t rape her.” he said

Daniel has since been charged to court by the police. The charge sheet filed before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court, reads

“That you, Idowu Daniel, on June 27, 2019, at 9.25 am in the Biology lab, at Anatasia Comprehensive College, Abule-Egba, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did unlawfully defile a 17-year-old girl by inserting your penis into her vagina, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015,”

The case has been adjourned till October 21st 2019.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ilorin Zonal Office on July 26, 2019 secured the conviction of Hammed Lanre, a Civil Engineer, who was arraigned before Justice Mahmood Abdulgafar of a Kwara State High sitting in Ilorin, for offence bordering on stealing.

He was alleged to have illegally withdrawn the sum of N540,000 using the phone of his friend who had offered the phone to him to access Facebook. Lanre had accessed his friend's PIN and used it to withdraw the money. Operatives of the EFCC, thereafter, located and arrested him in Lagos.

He was first arraigned on July 8, 2019 on a two-count charge to which he pleaded “not guilty”. However, realizing the strength of the evidence gathered against him, he approached the EFCC for a plea bargain, which led to him being re-arraigned on an amended charge to which he pleaded “guilty”.

The amended charge reads: “That you, Hammed Folorunsho Lanre, sometimes around 29th, May 2019, at Ilorin, within the judicial division of the High Court, committed theft by taking dishonestly, money belonging to Hammed Muritala when you transferred the gross sum of N540,000 via his mobile phone, from Stanbic Ibtc into your bet9ja pay stack website account without his consent and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 286 of the Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 287 of the Penal Code Law.”

Thereafter, Justice Abdulgafar sentenced him to one year in prison to commence from May 30, 2019, the day he was arrested.

A fake Hindu monk identified as Raphael Ekechi, has been arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team in Ogun State for defrauding a second-hand clothes trader, Emmanuel Ekpe, of N167,000.

The 36-year-old trader had approached the magician for a business boom, but was given a substance which never worked. Ekechi was tracked down to Alagbado area of Lagos State, after the case was reported at the IRT office in Abeokuta on July 8, 2019.

The 50-year-old fake magician when paraded before newsmen, said he went into fraud after his electronics business failed. He said;

“I am from Izza in Ebonyi State and I have four children. One day, I travelled to Accra, Ghana, to buy goods worth N3m and Customs operatives seized them. I became frustrated and could not find any means to get money to continue my business.

“I found out that some Nigerians are desperate to get rich quickly and I decided to use my brain to get what I want. I lied to my clients that I had power and that I learnt metaphysical science from India.

“I charged N7,700 for consultation form and N1m for a person who wants to win a contract. The man (Ekpe) wanted to boost his business. I charged him N167,000 but he first deposited N57,000 and promised to pay the balance in a month’s time.

“I told him that he must pay fully for the things I gave him to work. He came back to my ‘office’ and complained that what I did for him did not work. I told him to stop complaining so that the gods would not be angry with him. I did not know he would report to the police.”

On his own part, the distraught trader said he sought for Ekechi's metaphysical power to save his crashing business.

“I am married with three children and I deal in second-hand clothes. I started from Katankowa Market, Abule-Egba, Lagos, before I moved to Kuto Market in Abeokuta. My business crumbled and I was desperately looking for what to do to revive it.

“I tried to secure a loan from many places but I did not succeed. I saw his (Ekechi’s) poster around Abule Egba area of Lagos and read that he had the power to boost business.

“I called him on the phone and he directed me to take a motorbike to Kola bus stop. He took me to his temple at Alagbado and gave me a consultation form which I filled. I told him that I wanted to revive my business.

“I paid N18,000 for a ring he gave me. He said I should do a sacrifice for it to work and he asked me to pay N120,000 but I deposited N80,000. He also asked me to pay N18,000 for ‘spiritual tax,’ and N35,000 for another sacrifice.

“I returned to tell him that I did not get results for what I paid for and asked him to refund my money. He refused and started to threaten my life. He refunded N53,000.”

Breaking News!!

This happened in a village called Igogoro in Enugu Ezike, Enugu State. According to the information, there was one Hausa man that was called to draw off the unneccessary dirty water from that soak away pit you're seen through the pipe but he ignorantly took the generator inside the pit.

So when the smoke from the generator was too much, there was no way for him to get out of the pit, when the smoke now got people's attention, they now called able young guys to rescue the hausa man, when the first person entered he was unable to get out too, the second person entered in rescue of the first but he could not come out, that was how all of the followed each other in rescue of one another till all of them died. This is more than a mystery and tragedy to me!!

The Nation, however, learnt from police source that the suspect had been detained on the order of the DPO in charge of the Central Police Station, Awka.

“It was not long after the matter was reported in the police station that the madam appeared, claiming the housemaid was abducted,” the source added.

Two suspects, Daniel Abah, 27, and Edwin Edache, 31, have been arrested by the police for allegedly attacking a Taxify driver, Alfred Moses, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, and dispossessing him of his Toyota Corolla car.

According to the police, the suspects, both from Otukpo, Benue State, boarded the complainant’s car as passengers on the Lekki-Epe Expressway and asked him to convey them to the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state sometime last month.

Midway into the trip, the suspects allegedly announced to the driver that they were robbers and that he should park the car and hand over the key to them or else they would kill him.

The police further alleged that when the driver refused to stop the car, Abah held him by the neck, while his accomplice, Edache, poured petrol on his face, which forced the driver to suddenly stop the car.

The duo reportedly dragged the driver out of the car and drove away.

It was gathered that  Moses after regaining consciousness, reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Maroko Division, who led his men to track the car to the suspects’ hideout in Lekki.

The suspects were arrested while they were looking for a buyer for the car.

During investigation, according to the police, the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime that they intended selling it to enable them raise money to start a business.

A 19 year old lady simply identified as Oyindamola, was allegedly drugged and gang raped by her boyfriend and his friends at a party in the Alagbado area in Lagos state on June 30th.

The older sister of the victim, Mrs Afolabi, in an exclusive interview with LIB, said the victim who was a virgin, was invited to a birthday party by her boyfriend, Roy Arinze, who drugged her, took her away from the party while she was unconcious and raped her alongside two of his friends.

On the 30th of June, my sister Oyindamola went for a birthday party with one of her best friend called Roy Arinze. Arround 6pm, Roy invited her to a birthday party which was celebrated by one of his brothers. On getting to the party, Roy brought beer for my sister to drink and she had never taken beer before. He begged her to drink it so she collected it from him and she drank it. After taking the alcohol, she said she doesn't know what is happening to her. The next thing, she found herslef in Roy's house. Roy took her to his house. She was unconcious. When she woke up, she saw three guys packing blood. She was like what is going on here? What happened. Roy responded that he just fingered her. She was like you just fingered me and I am seeing three guys packing blood. Roy responded that they came to her rescue.

She said she wants to start going home. She woke up around 9.30pm. During that period, she had switched off her phone. We have been looking for her. They asked her to sleep over but she said no that she cannot wait that she has to go back home. They put her to a bike and she went home.

When my sister got home, she went straight to bed. She did not inform anybody. The next day, my mum went out and she called me to say she wasn't feeling alright. She said she was feeling pains in her vagina. I asked her what happened and she told me that she went to her boyfriend's place yesterday and that he told her that he fingered her and that since then, she hasn't been feeling okay. I was thinking maybe normal tears, maybe the guy slept with her and disvirgined her and she had a few tears. I called a nurse who told me she can take Ampiclox and then sit on warm water.

Oyindamola was in so much pain that she couldn't walk. So she wanted to go and buy the drugs which is Ampiclox. On getting to the pharmacy which was in our neighboorhood, the pharmacist saw the way she was walking and was like what happened to you Oyindamola? She responded that she is having pains all over her body and that she wants to buy drugs. The pharmacist was like you are having body pains and you want to buy Ampiclox? The pharmacist forced her to come closer to see what was happening down. She bent and opened her vagina for the pharmacist.

The pharmacist was shocked and was very suprised. She directed her to Fumbi Medical Center hospital in our area. She went there and she was admitted. Because my mum wasn't around and I wasn't around as well, , she called Roy to tell him she was in the hospital. The guy came down to the hospital. The doctor asked them to pay N38, 000 to stitch it for my sister. I think the doctor did not know it was something big.

Later on, my mum got in touch with her and asked her ''where are you?'. She said she was in the hospital. When she got to the hospital, my mum was very surpised. She rushed down to the police station on AIT Alagbado to report. She got there and at the counter, met a female police officer who accompanied her to get Roy arrested.

On getting there, they saw Roy and the doctor discussing. Roy was promising the doctor that he will pay extra N25, 000 to take care of Oyindamola as well as beg our mother on his behalf.

Roy was immediately arrested and taken to the police station. When they got there, the policemen were asking my mum to pay N5000 to open file, another N5000 for transport and another N5000. They were just asking her for money. She was like money for what? Is it a crime for me to come and tell you that something happened to me and you can't come to my rescue? (sic) The police woman told my mum if she cannot pay the money, then she should forget about the case. My mum was surprised and was like why would she say such a thing? She left for home and returned with N5000 which was all she could gather. Before she returned to the police station, I think the police woman and Roy had discussed. Roy asked her to please help him beg my mum and that he is going to settle the woman.

The police woman told my mum that she come so they can settle the matter because she knows she doesn't have money. She told my mum that if they go to court, she would lose because she doesn't have money. She was like you don't have money to pay N5000 for transport. My Mum was like why would she say such a thing. She told my mum that she should provide the remaining money asked for as soon as possible otherwise she would release the suspect, Roy.

My mum did not have much with her. She rushed down to the church and called upon the brethren that they should please come to her aid. My mum and the church members visited the police station on Wednesday July 2nd. They went straight to the DPO's office as the female police officer was not on sit. The DPO wasn't aware of what was even happening. The DPO said he was not even aware wasn't even in the cell.

He begged my mum and church members. Some people hinted us that we should call humanright activists that they are ready to fight for us and can take up the issue. We got their number and called them that same Wednesday. We called and Mrs Fola from Ikeja spoke to us. She came on Thursday July 3rd. She met my sister in the Hospital and asked her questions. She also met with doctor. The doctor told Mrs Fola he did not see any sign of penetration and that he doesn't understand the case and that she should just take it easy.

Mrs Fola then said no that she will not take it easy and that it must be charged to court. That Thursday, the doctor gave us a bill of N55, 000 and asked us to go and pay. My sister all through this period couldn't urinate by herself. They had to pass a pipe through her body. Unfortuately we don't have much, we are very rich. We didn't have much with us. We tried to run helter skelter to raise the money. We didn't have much because my dad has not been feeling fine for a very long time. He cannot walk. We have been spending much on my dad. This Oyinda own coming suddenly made us weak.

Before then, Roy's family members have been coming down to the hospital, begging us that we should settle this matter because they are Igbo, we we are Yoruba (sic). They said they will pick up the bill and that they will give us some amount of money and that anything we want we should ask for. I personally said no because this guy is not telling us the truth because after he injured my sister, he cleaned her blood with his clothes and white handkerchief. We even asked for the clothes he used to clean her blood but he said he had burnt it. We don't even know what he used the blood to do.

The police just put him in their custody. They did not question him nor ask him We were also surprised because my sister said they were three when she opened her eyes. They left the remaining two guys. They did not interrogate them.'' she said

Speaking further, Mrs Afolabi said the Humanright activisit insisted that Oyinda must be examined at the Mirabel Medical center within seven days as the test will not be able to detect anything after seven days.

On Saturday July 6th, the humanrights activist came to take Oyindamola for the test but the doctor denied her access because we had not paid the hospital bill. The doctor said she cannot release Oyindamola unless the hospital bill is paid. We pleaded that she should just allow Oyindamola to go for the test and come back to the hospital. We were like we will try and go to church on Sunday and gather something. The doctor refused. Thank God for Mrs Fola. , she spoke with the doctor who pledged to ensure Oyindamola returns to the hospital.

At the end of the day, Mrs Fola left with Oyindamola and my brother to Mirabel for the test. Me and my mum we were there at the hospital. They brought her back to the hospital. On Sunday we got to church and we were not able to gather anything. We were just tired. Later we agreed that Roy's family should pay the money because it is their responsibility because they are the ones that caused everything. They paid the bill and we went home.

On Monday July 8th, I went to the police station to find out what is happening and they said they have not made any arrest because they have not seen any evidence. They asked me to take a sheet of paper to Mirabel to collect the result. On Tuesday July 9th, we went down to Mirabel.

On that Saturday when they went for the test in Mirabel, they met with one Dr Alabi who enlightened Mrs Fola that it was a gang rape. He said from what he saw, it was a gang rape. He said the result will come out in 7 days. He said they raped her through her vagina and through her anus . The doctor was so sad.

According to Mrs Afolabi, on Monday July 15th, the police called for a meeting between her family and Roy's family members. On getting to the station, Oyindamola and her mother were shocked to see Roy arrriving the police station on a motorbike. They never knew the police had released Roy. A few minutes later, the police informed them that the meeting had been postponed to the next day. Oyindamola accused the police officer of wasting her time as she was meant to be at the Mirabel medical center for further treatment but had to cancel it because of the meeting.

Mrs Afolabi said that to her family's suprise, the police officer accused Oyindamola of being rude and locked her up in the cell. She said the police threatened her mum that she will also be locked up if she isn't careful. She was detained in the cell till the next day July 16th.

In the night, the policemen were interrogating her again. They told her that when they get to court, she should tell them that she was not sleeping when Roy was having sex with her. They were collecting another statement from her again. They did not give her food or medication.

The next day, my mummy came and they said they want to go to court because they have collected another statement. They said they were going to court that morning which was yesterday. She called me and I was surprised. I was angry because the police decided to go to court now after forcing my sister to make another statement. The police officers collected my mum's phone so she could not be able to talk to me, forced her into a vehicle with Oyindamola and they drove to the court'' she said

Mrs Afolabi said Roy was in the court and his lawyers asked the court to grant him bail.

The Magistrate court adjourned the case to September 26th.

Mrs Afolabi says all her family is demanding is justice for her sister, Oyindamola.

The suit seeking to nullify the election of President Buhari on grounds on academic qualification, has been struck out by the court of appeal in Abuja.

Delivering a unianimous judgement on Friday, the court held that the lawsuit filed by Kalu Kalu, Labaran Ismail and Hassy Kyari el-Kuris, came after the specified time for pre-election matters.

“We have decided to settle on the preliminary objection. To determine the issue, we have to pay serious attention to when the cause of action arose.

“I have no doubt in my mind that the cause of action arose on October 18 when the documents said to be false that is the Curriculum Vitae and affidavit were submitted to INEC in form CF001,” the court ruled

The three-man panel of the court led by Justice Tinuade Akomolafe-Wilson, noted that the appellants challenging the earlier judgment of the Federal High Court only filed their suit before the said lower court on November 5, 2018, which was outside the 14 days period from October 18, 2018. The court further disclosed that it cannot accord itself any jurisdiction, outside that given to it by the constitution.

The Police in Lagos have arrested a 20-year-old woman, Blessing John, for allegedly biting off the manhood of her boyfriend, simply identified as Johnson, while trying to escape from being raped.

Blessing, who is being detained at the Lagos State Criminal Intelligence Investigation Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that she was in pain when she committed the act.

“Johnson is my boyfriend; he works as a hotel manager. We have been dating for six months and he had promised to help me with my Curriculum Vitae (CV), when he asked me to meet him at his friend’s place on July 5 at Surulere.

“I called him to confirm if he had his C.V. with him as he had told me that I would just edit and add my personal information.

“He said he had it with him, so, I proceeded to his place with the intention of getting the C.V. and leaving early so that I can use it the next day.

“When I got to his friend’s place, we went to a bar around there where he and his friend had a drink. They then asked me to go with them to their brother’s place which I declined, saying I have to be home early,” she said.

“We all went home together where his friend gathered some stuffs and we saw him off after which we returned to his place. When I asked him for the C.V., he said he didn’t bring it and I told him I was leaving.

“He got angry and said why will I just come and go like that. So, I told him what is the point of waiting, since I was not able to get what I came for.

“He tried taking my clothes off which I refused and he slapped me twice. He took off his clothes and was putting on boxers and singlet while he held on to my breast to pin me down.”

She said that at point, she held on to his manhood and told him to leave me but he refused.

“I told him I was on my menstrual period and that he should wait until Sunday but he insisted on checking.

“Usually, we see more than once in a week but the last time I saw him was a week ago. In fact, I was with him when I started having the menstrual pains. I was surprised he didn’t believe me.

“Johnson insisted on having sex with me and when I refused, he hit me on my back, I was so pained that I bit his manhood. I didn’t mean to harm him,” she said.

Blessing added that he rushed Johnson to a private hospital in Surulere where the doctor requested for the presence of a family member or the police before Johnson could be treated.

“There was no one to call as my father is late and my mother is in the village. I called Johnson’s relatives but they refused to show up. The hospital had to call the police and I was arrested.

“I didn’t mean to harm Johnson; I am not a violent person. Even my mother will feel bad when she hears about this. I am sure she will be trying to reach me but my SIM card is blocked,” the lady said.

The Lagos state police command have arrested 27-year-old suspected serial fraudster, Ramon Oshodi, who is well known for hacking into peoples’ bank accounts through their phones, Automated Teller Machine, ATM, cards and their Facebook accounts.

According to the police, Oshodi was arrested on Thursday June 27th by a team of Anti-Crime Patrol attached to Mushin Police Station, Olosan-Mushin, Lagos, after he had successfully swindled his victims to the tune of N4.5 million. He was on a motorcycle at 7:30a.m when he was stopped by policemen who conducted a search on him and found on him, five ATM cards and SIM cards belonging to different individuals on him. Also found on him was N91,000 cash.

He told the police that he buys stolen phones and ATM cards from the ghetto at Akala-Idioro, Mushin. He also revealed to the police that he hacks into people’s bank accounts through his access to their Facebook accounts after getting their date of birth, which some of the victims used for their various bank accounts.

Oshodi upon his arrest, has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting at Ikeja, Ogba on a seven-count charge of conspiracy, breach of peace, fraud, stealing, receiving of stolen properties and unlawful possession of ATM cards.

He pleaded  not guilty to the charges and was given a bail of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned till July 25th for mention.

Dressed in a black, white and ash checked shirt and black trousers, bearded Bidemi Mojupa, 26, alleged to have murdered his lover inside Corporation Estate, Amuwo Odofin last Tuesday, showed no sign of remorse.

His expression while recounting the incident that led to his killing the woman he described as “my prostitute friend,” showed no sobriety for a first-timer, who claimed to have not premeditated killing the woman identified as Christy for denying him sex.

Mojupa, a graduate of Mass Communication from Rivers State Polytechnic admitted it was not the first time they would be having “good time,” adding that he dragged her inside the house when she made to leave and then stabbed her on the neck from behind.

According to him, he was high on Rohypnol, tranquilizer about 10 times more potent than valium, which he became addicted to while in school where he joined the Vykings cult group.

The suspect, who was paraded before reporters at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Panti in Yaba on Tuesday, said he was under pressure to have sex and felt bad when Christy turned him down.

Mojupa said he tried to force her but she refused and insisted on payment before service which led to an altercation between them, which probably alerted the neighbours.

The suspect denied being a ritualist, claiming it was the mob justice meted to him that made him admit in the viral video.

He said: “She was my prostitute friend. It was not the first time we were meeting. I was high on drugs and under pressure to make love when I went to pick her. We agreed and came my place at 55A Corporation Estate, Amuwo Odofin.

“But when I wanted to do it, she refused and said I should pay her first. We started arguing. She walked out and wanted to leave but I dragged her back inside and stabbed her on the neck.

“It was a kitchen knife I used in stabbing her. She did not see the knife coming. I had earlier used the knife to peel oranges and dropped it on top of the washing machine before I went to pick her.

After killing her, I was afraid and wanted to run away. I did not know what to do.”
Asked if he planned to escape and put his uncle in whose house he committed the crime in trouble, Mojupa said no, adding “I would have only escaped for a while.”

Asked about the 17 women handbags found in the duplex, Mojupa said they belonged to the owners of the house his uncle took over from.

“It is my uncle’s house. When the incident happened he was not around but he is back now. Those bags belong to the former owners of the house. The people my uncle took over the house from. I have never killed anyone and I am not a ritualist. I was high on drugs,” he said.

The PUNCH has removed its Daily Editor, Martin Ayankola over an offensive cartoon published in the newspaper last Thursday.

Also asked to resign was the Saturday Editor, Olabisi Deji-Folutile over the same issue.

There have been an outrage and backlash over a cartoon published on the back page of the PUNCH last Thursday. The opinion on its back page column was written by Abimbola Adelakun, with the title “What Does Mrs. Fatoyinbo Know.” The article was illustrated with a cartoon of a man desecrating the bible with urine.

The publication had generated lots of displeasure against the newspaper for publishing such offensive cartoon aimed at casting aspersion on the Christian faith and the Lord Jesus Christ.

PM News gathered that the board held an emergency meeting on Monday where Ayankola, was ordered to appear and forced to resign his appointment.

It was learnt that Ayankola had just completed a one-week suspension before he was fired by the newspaper over the offensive cartoon.

Ayankola has been the longest serving PUNCH Editor, having been appointed to the office in 2013 and during his tenure, the PUNCH towered higher.

A source in The PUNCH told PM News that the editor was forced to resign for bringing the newspaper into disrepute.

The Saturday Editor, Deji-Folutile was also asked to resign for allegedly playing a role in the publication, while the cartoonist of the newspaper was sacked, with more people still being investigated, while the columnist, Abimbola Adelakun, was asked to rest her column.

The PUNCH had also tendered apology to the public over the offensive cartoon.

The apology reads: “On the back of the page of the Thursday, July 4, 2019 edition of the PUNCH, we published a cartoon to illustrate an article titled, ‘What does Mrs. Fatoyinbo know?’ The cartoon features a character desecrating the Holy Bible.

“We apologise for the offensive cartoon and assure our esteemed readers that we hold the Christian faith in high regard. We have since commenced the process of applying appropriate sanctions to the members of staff responsible, and we shall be reviewing our editorial process to prevent re-occurrence.”

The Imo State Police command has arrested one Chukwuemeka Eze, for raping and murdering a 27-year-old corps member barely a week to her passing out parade. The suspect was paraded alongside 19 others, allegedly involved in various crimes ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, murder and child-trafficking.

Chukwuemeka Eze confessed to raping and murdering Lillian Ngbawa, who was deployed to Mgbidi, Oru West council area for her service year. He also led the police to the forest part where her body was recovered, after admitting taking her smart phone which eventually implicated him.

The Nigerian Police Force spokesperson, Frank Mba told newsmen that the suspects will be charged to court after investigation has been concluded.

“I am at the Imo State Police Command at the instance of the Inspector-General of Police. Here is Chukwuemeka Eze, who murdered an ex-corps member, Lillian Mgbanwu, after raping her.

“On July 7, 2019, Eze, who pretended to be insane, took an android phone to the shop of one Ahamefule Onyeka for charging. Onyeka reported the development to the police in Oru West. This suspect was arrested and he confessed that he took away the ex-corps member’s phone after raping her to death.

“This development is pathetic and worrisome, but we promise that justice will be served" he said.

We have received news that Pastors Biodun and Modele Fatoyinbo are preparing to wrest control of the narrative around the COZA scandal and are currently shopping for journalists to interview them for an exclusive. One of the names currently being shopped is Ifedayo ‘DaddyFreeze’ Olarinde; a Nigerian OAP who rose to infamy in Nigerian christian circles for his 2017 crusade against the religious practice of tithing. Olarinde is familiar to the church, having sparred with many of its leaders and usually in condemnation of their denomination based rituals.

“PB and his wife are saying that they have to fight back,” a source who works in the Pastor’s office and who wishes to remain anonymous said to us yesterday. “They feel abandoned by their mentors, and that there is no other way out, and they have decided to attack all the girls.

“He is also reconsidering his stepping down because there were no protests in the church yesterday, because they feel the issue is dying down. I don’t know what they plan to say when Freeze does the interview. They have not told anybody.”

This statement refers to the responses that have poured in over the last week, with Funke Felix-Adejumo, Laurie Idahosa, Poju Oyemade and Enoch Adeboye all weighing in on the current situation and Oyemade suggesting Fatoyinbo’s decision to take a leave of absence was influenced by his spiritual mentors.

There is evidence to suggest that at least subtly, Fatoyinbo isn’t waiting for an interview to try out some spin. Journalist Eromo Egbejule was the first to break the news that the first family at Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun and Modele Fatoyinbo are allegedly taking measures to discredit victims who come forward to speak about their interactions with the pastor and talk about the alleged criminal actions that were perpetrated against them.

On Sunday, unconfirmed photographs surfaced of church members posing before cardboard posters of the pastor and his wife as well as videos of young COZA members releasing videos on social media in support of the troubled pastor.

A COZA member stands before posters of her pastors. We cannot determine which of the branches this was taken.
Egbejule’s prediction was preceded by the unexpected move by beloved digital media platform Ndani TV to cancel its most recent web series Oga Pastor! and remove all released episodes from Youtube. The show had high profile actress Ini Dima Okojie as the lead was driven by a plot that began to eerily mirror the proceedings of the story lines in the accusations against Fatoyinbo. Ndani TV is yet to release a statement explaining this move and petitions demanding an answer and spawning conspiracies theories have run the spectrum from fansites like BattlegroundFanPage to powerful media houses like BellaNaija. What the internet seems to agree on, that the action is directly related to the COZA investigation.

We can also confirm that apart from the Busola Dakolo petition signed against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, there are currently 10 other cases that the Nigerian Police is currently investigating that either allege the pastor misused his position of influence or sexually assaulted women. Our source suggests that the legal team at COZA is doing its best to suppress news of these investigations reaching the media and swaying public perceptions.

Our source, who works in entertainment suggests that DaddyFreeze’s long history of conflict with Timi Dakolo factored heavily in why he was being shopped to interview Pastor Fatoyinbo. Freeze and Dakolo have had a series of ideological conflicts starting in 2017 ; though when the latter went public in 2019 with his first accusation of Fatoyinbo, Freeze was quick to support his cause publicly.

Whenever a victim comes forward, a smear campaign follows to discredit the victim alleging physical assault or rape. It happened with Timi Dakolo in 2018, and in 2019 before Busola Dakolo’s interview. There was also the unconfirmed ‘unveiling’ of YNaija’s second interviewee by self professed journalist, Kemi Olunloyo who had requested to remain anonymous, who has started what she calls an #IJCOZA investigation into the allegations against the pastor. The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) are currently investigating the allegations on their own end.

A source close to DaddyFreeze however notes that DaddyFreeze hasn’t yet left for the interview:

“They contacted him, but he hasn’t travelled yet. They haven’t gotten back to him again, since the first two calls.”

We do not know if the Fatoyinbo’s will go through with the interview, or settle on DaddyFreeze; but what is certain is that Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo is long overdue an opportunity to tell his own side of the story.

A civil rights organisation under the aegis of Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates, on Monday opened a fresh chapter in the allegation of rape against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth Zion Assembly.

The organisation specifically said information at its disposal suggested that the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, was planning to transfer the case to Abuja.

The convener of COPA, Pelumi Olajengbesi, in a statement in Abuja, said the case would be diligently monitored with a view to checking the abuse of the process by parties.

Rather than transfer the case to Abuja, he advised that priority must also be given to the security and convenience of the vital and primary witness and Fatoyinbo’s alleged rape victim, Busayo Dakolo.

Olajengbesi reminded the police that a valid and active warrant of arrest against Fatoyinbo had yet to be executed, adding that the police would be setting itself up for ridicule and suspicion, “and are in themselves in gross contempt of their oath of office and duties as enforcers of civil and criminal discipline.”

According to him, the handling of such a delicate, yet grievous allegation against Fatoyinbo “will go a long way to either mar or make the reputation of the Nigeria Police Force as an institution of discipline and an objective principal in the pursuit of justice.”

While demanding that the allegation of rape must not be moved to Abuja for Fatoyinbo’s sake, Olajengbesi said keen observation of the processes being undertaken by the police on the matter revealed “a lacklustre and suspicious plot underfoot to give a soft landing to the suspect.”

The statement read: “Our demands are simply that the matter be allowed its due course within the jurisdiction where the complaint was filed. Transferring the case to Abuja from Lagos where it was originally filed prejudices the complainant while extending a kid’s glove to the accused who perhaps feels too connected to deign to go to Lagos to answer to the serious allegations against him.

“We are vehemently opposed to such a move and demand that this matter be thoroughly investigated and the accused invited to the place of domicile of the victim especially given the matter was filed there.

“Let it be abundantly clear that we are sufficiently conscious of the law in matters of jurisdiction as to investigation and prosecution of criminal matters. In this matter, investigation can take place in Lagos, Nigeria and if any place should be given premium attention, it is the place of residence of the victim to aid and facilitate proper information needed by the police and not the place of residence of the accused.

“We have noticed with displeasure the usual mischievous moves that have come to characterise the Nigeria Police Force in the past whenever it is set to deliberately or negligently mess up a case of such importance.

“We do hereby state emphatically that the Nigeria Police Force is not handling the Fatoyinbo rape allegation with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. This is wrong, condemnable and very much in disregard of the need to ensure that justice is done in the matter regardless of whose ox is gored.

“A warrant of arrest was issued to secure Biodun Fatoyinbo to answer questions in line with the police investigation. Unfortunately, nothing has been done and Fatoyinbo has continued to walk freely without reporting to the police station. Instead of arresting him for proper interrogation, the police have now changed gear after days of filing the complaint with the victim now being unduly pressurised to relocate to Abuja or to fly to Abuja every day as the Nigeria Police Force intend to transfer the matter there. This is unacceptable.

“We totally reject all attempts by the IGP to unduly transfer the matter to Abuja where the accused is resident. This is like giving the accused person a red carpet treatment when he should actually be thoroughly investigated. Though we acknowledge the fact that the IGP has the administrative discretion to transfer matters to any division or jurisdiction for proper investigation, we make bold to say that same must be exercised judiciously and professionally.

“We call on the IGP to drop his personal interest in this matter, where any, and allow justice take its full course as a respecter of no one. We have sufficient information that the IGP has taken personal interest in the case as Mr. Biodun Fatoyinbo has influenced him into redirecting the case to Abuja where it would most likely be suffocated and dropped.

“In any case, where the Nigeria Police Force attempt to bring up argument of where the elements of the offence took place to determine prosecution, let it be known that it is Ilorin, Kwara State not Abuja. The alleged case happened in Ilorin years back. The victim now lives in Lagos and the suspect is in Abuja.”

Adeniji Emmanuel Sunday, a Vice Principal in Ondo state, has called out a student of the school he co-manages over a disrespectful chat on Facebook.

The Vice Principal who described the student identified as Marley Kesh as a 'good-for-nothing' boy, further threatened to block all his underaged followers on the platform over the disrespectful chat. He wrote;
It is very easy to know a child from a bad home. Such a child has no respect for his parents at home and his teachers at school. If the opportunity is available, he beats them up. But the end of such a child is a total disaster. As a teacher, I releate well with my students. The responsible ones know this and they respect me for it. It is very true that out of every 12 there must be one Judas. The boy you are looking at here is one of such good-for-nothing boys. This evening I got his message: dis man how far? Controversial OAP, Daddy Freeze has reacted to the recent video of Pastor Adeboye addresing the rape allegations levelled against the Founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly COZA, Biodun Fatoyinbo, and a few other men of God.

Pastor Adeboye said, ''when you find yourself facing useful lust, the bible says Flee which means run as a terror. When you see a sister smiling at you in a funny way, run. Run! Don't say I am a great man of God and I am highly anointed'.

Daddy Freeze in his reaction said, 'baba had spoken much wisdom. All upcoming Church leaders, take note....

I only wish he applied such scriptural dexterity when addressing erroneous Christian doctrines such as tithing and first fruit.

The last part is deep, here is a scripture that supports his thesis.

Genesis 39
New Living Translation
[13] When she saw that she was holding his cloak and he had fled, [14] she called out to her servants. Soon all the men came running. “Look!” she said. “My husband has brought this Hebrew slave here to make fools of us! He came into my room to rape me, but I screamed. [15] When he heard me scream, he ran outside and got away, but he left his cloak behind with me.”

An employee of the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Board in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of the state, Douglas Ajemine, has been arrested by operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team for paying two men to kill her husband.

The 41-year-old mother of four, who was apprehended in the Abalama area of the state, started having a love affair with one of the killers, Kingsley Nna, after the gruesome murder of her husband, Inedugoba Tyger.

After her arrest, Ajemine claimed that she hired Nna and his friend, Sunny, to carry out the mission because her late husband was in the habit of abusing her physically and sexually each time he came home.

She said at a point, Tyger abandoned her and moved into a new apartment in Port Harcourt, the state capital, with another woman.

The suspect said that it was in a bid to stop being abused by him that she got across to Nna and his friend, who eventually carried out the evil task.

An official of the IRT, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Saturday PUNCH that upon receiving a petition on the matter, the IGP, Adamu Mohammed, instructed them to unravel the mystery behind Tyger’s killing.

According to findings by the team, the victim’s wife, in a bid to cover up the crime, took his car to a nearby market and parked it at a place where it could be recovered.

She went ahead to use his mobile phones to send text massages to his brothers, informing them that he was travelling out of the state on a business trip.

But the brothers, having waited days without hearing from their sibling, reported his sudden disappearance to the IGP, who immediately ordered an investigation into the matter.

After her arrest, Ajemine led police operatives to arrest Nna, who had been having sex with her after killing Tyger.

She said, “I met my husband, Inedugoba Tyger, in December 2014 and we got married the following year.

“He had two children before I married him and he said that he needed me to help him take care of them.

“I accepted and moved into his house and I started taking care of his children but usually spent two weeks with his children after which I would move to my own house to be with my own children.

“That same year, he proposed that we should live together and I moved into his house with my second son. Soon, he lost his job and we relocated to our village in Buguma and his children were all staying in my house. By April 2016, my husband got some money from his former company and went to my family and paid my bride price.

“We then relocated to his family house and since he had no job, he became aggressive and abusive.

“Later, he started coming home to take things to sell and when I refused, he would beat me up and leave. Then I moved out of his house in Abalama and went to Port Harcourt.

“He traced me to where I was staying and tried to have sex with me in the passage of that house in January 2019. I approached Kingsley Nna and told him what I was facing in the hands of my husband and he promised to help out.

“Another time, my husband came to my place and tried to forcibly have sex with me, I called Kingsley (Nna) on the phone to come.

“He came with one of his friends and started beating my husband. I left them inside the house and when I returned, I was told that he had died. Kingsley warned me not to tell anyone or else he would kill me and my children. My husband’s body was buried close to our house.

“I later sold his phone for N15,000 and Kingsley started demanding money from me. I gave him N150,000 but he went ahead to start having sex with me. Not too long after then, officers of the IRT came and arrested me.”

Confessing to the crime, Nna said Ajemine paid him and his friend N100,000 to beat her husband, adding that the woman pressured him into a sexual relationship with her soon afterwards.

He said, “In December 2018, I met Ajemine and she told me and my friend, Sunny, that her husband was maltreating her.

“I told her that whenever the man came around, she should call us.

“One day, she called and said that she wanted us to beat the man. In January this year, she gave us N50,000 and said she would call us whenever the man was with her in Abalama.

“Some days later, she called us and said that her husband was with her but we couldn’t make it down to her place that day. On January 26, she called again in the afternoon and said the man was coming and that we should come and beat him.

“When we got there, we met the two of them Unclad, as if they had just finished making love. The room was dark and the woman put on a torch so that we would see the man on the bed. Sunny wrapped the man’s face with a wrapper and a pillow, then I started beating him.

“He woke up and started struggling. He removed what was used to tie his face, saw Sunny and recognised him. The two of them started speaking their Kalabari language. I don’t know what they were saying but Sunny insisted that we should kill the man since he had seen his face.

“I held him and Sunny strangled him. We informed the woman who was outside when this happened that her husband was dead but she said she didn’t instruct us to kill him.

“She gave us a shovel and showed us where to bury him. The next day, she called and gave us N30,000. That evening, she called and said she wanted me to make love to her.

“We met at a hotel and made love for two hours. One week later, we met again in that same hotel and made love again. We made love a third time before I stopped responding to her calls because she wanted to turn me to her new husband.”

Officials of the IRT disclosed that all three suspects in the murder of Tyger would be charged to court at the end of investigations.
