The current Mr Universe Nigeria, Egwuatu Francis Beacon, was returning home from an event in the early hours of today when he was attacked by armed robbers in the Aguda, Surulere area of Lagos. His car, a Toyota Matrix with registration number EPE 649 AC and other valuables in the car was taken. One of the robbers also hit him with the butt of his gun (pic on the right). Thankfully, he wasn't seriously injured as he managed to escape from them on time.

The thread of pouring water on students at the end of their final exams is no new news in our Nigeria higher institutions... But over the years, it has really gone bad, as some students now use this medium to perpetrate evil on this graduating ones.. 
Last year we recall a case of a student of imsu been bathed with acid and another similar case in Lasu and Uniben...

As the Imo State University Owerri prepares to round up her second semester exams come next week.. The school authorities has dished out a note of warning to everyone it may concern, as seen below:

Pouring of water after Exam by the graduating students has been banned by the school authority, be it in the school or in your hostels, Any one caught will be arrested... 
Also, pasting of posters and bills at the school
walls has been banned,,, Any one caught pasting
bills and posters at the school walls will be arrested immediately.. 

This information came from the school management after a meeting with the
SUG....please lets help and keep all those rules
because it is for our own good,, last year a
graduating student was poured Acid due to the
pouring of water and the student died..Still that
last year another students fells into a pit and died immediately due to the same pouring of water after final exams.... 

Do report anyone you see going against this rules to the security details in your alliance or to the school security desk..

I’m offering my unreserved apology to everyone, especially Linda Ikeji, all Media houses, Friends, fans, the entire “Five Star Music Group” and the general public.

Following events inaccurately reported in the media on one of the artistes under my management Skiibbii ‘Abbey Toyyib Elias’, that subsequently resulted in adverse publicity to our group.

With my wealth of experience in the entertainment business, I would like to state that events leading to the above misinformation through my channel was due to a breakdown in communication.

I accept full responsibility and this fell short of the high standard that I have always maintained within the industry, thus the reason why I offer this apology.


Going forward, such sensitive situations would be better dealt with.

The Anti-Robbery Squad of the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, Lagos, has arrested a Lagos prince, Wale Jimoh, and seven others.

The police said the suspects were arrested during initiation rites of the Eiye Confraternity in the Jakande Roundabout, Small Kuramo, Lekki.

Jimoh’s father is said to be the traditional ruler of a community in the area.

Other suspected members of the confraternity group include; Frank Mafiana (32), Robert Williams (34), Koko Etim (25), Ibrahim Ogunkoya (21), Stephen Anoh (27), Adekunle Mayegun (25), and Moris Gordian (27).

PUNCH Metro learnt that the men had organised a party at a bar owned by their gang leader, Mafiana, and decided to use the occasion to initiate Ogunkoya.

It was gathered that it was at the last stage of the initiation that security operatives, acting on a tip-off, struck.

A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the suspects were “caught in the act.”

He said, “When we got there, we met the new member in their midst. He was blindfolded and stark Unclad. We recovered a gun, cutlass and a bottle of gin which contained ground pepper from the scene.”

The leader of the cult group, Mafiana, said he became a cultist while in a university in Enugu State.

The Delta State indigene said, “A girl had hugged me in public. That night, some guys came to my hostel and beat me up. They warned me never to go near the girl again.

“I became angry and called my friend, who was a cultist. I told him I was ready to be one of them. That was how I joined and rose to be the number one.

“I have gone for several missions and beaten up many rival cult members, but I never killed. When I came to Lagos, I stopped being a member and these guys only came to meet me that day to assist them with the initiation.”

However, another member of the group, Etim, countered Mafiana, saying he was the leader of the gang.

The Akwa Ibom indigene said the gang always met at his bar where they held their meetings.

“We are all members and he is the chief. I joined them recently and never knew there was going to be an initiation that night,” he said.

On the initiation of Ogunkoya, another member of the group, Williams, said they were called to the bar at the instance of Jimoh, the prince.

Williams said, “Wale (Jimoh) called Mafiana that Ogunkoya wanted to be a member. Our leader was initially reluctant, but when he saw Jimoh with a polythene bag containing a cutlass and a gun, he agreed.”

Jimoh on his part confessed that he brought the gun and cutlass, adding that he stole them from a shrine where Ogun worshippers in his community performed rites.

He said, “Although my mum is the present queen in the palace, I am not the real son of the king. The king married my mum and because he liked me, he adopted me.

“Ogunkoya is my friend. He has been noticing how we operate, and he told me that he was interested in being a member.

“I invited him for the party. It was when he was feeling tipsy that we removed his clothes to initiate him.”

He explained that torture during initiation was meant to harden the minds of members.

Ogunkoya, however, denied showing interest in the group, adding that he was threatened with a gun.

“I have never met them in my life until that day. I never knew they were cultists until they attacked and pushed me into a pit and started beating me around 9pm.

“They put a gun to my head and said I must join them or else they would kill me,” he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Patricia Amadin, when contacted, said she would get back to our correspondent. But she had yet to do so as of press time.

Two friends, Rashidat Iyabo, 20, and Jumoke Olawe, 34, were on Thursday arraigned at the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos State for allegedly beating Iyabo’s ex-lover, one Sunday Dauda.

The accused, both traders, were docked on a two-count charge bordering on serious assault and conspiracy.

They, however, denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Silas, had earlier told court that the offences were committed on August 19 at Sawmill area in Ebute Meta.


"Iyabo solicited the help of her friend, Olawe, to help to beat up Dauda for breaking up with her.

"They accosted the complainant on his way home where they beat him and stabbed him on his body and head thereby causing Dauda serious bodily harm.

"Iyabo didn't like the idea that Dauda broke up with her and therefore, set out to teach him a lesson," Silas said.
He said the offences contravened sections 172 and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. Fowowe-Erusiafe, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned to October 9 for trial.
