Man Arrested For Inserting Airtel Sim Pack In ATM Machine In Lagos

A man, Abass Ali, 24, who claimed to work as
a security man with a female lawyer at waterside area of Mile 2, has been arrested by the police at the Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, for allegedly inserting an Airtel sim pack into an ATM machine.








The incident, according to the police, occurred at the bank's headquarters along Marina, Lagos Island, western Nigeria. Police investigation revealed that the suspect was arrested following a complaint by management of the bank that the suspect visited the bank on 13 May, 2014 to
take permission from the security man on duty to allow him use his ATM card and he obliged him.






It was gathered that when the security man started hearing unusual sound from the ATM machine, he moved closer to know what was happening, only for him to discover that the suspect was inserting an Airtel sim pack inside the ATM machine. When the suspect realized that his game was up, he allegedly threw the sim pack inside a nearby drainage and took to his heels but he was pursued and caught by the security man who raised alarm which attracted people who assisted him to retrieve the sim pack
from the drainage and the suspect was dragged to the police station.







During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime. He claimed that he was sent by one Abu Kano and Ibrahim Kuye.






The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the magistrate, Mrs. O. M. Ajayi admitted him on bail in the sum of N40,000 with two sureties in like sum.





The magistrate adjourned the matter till 25 June, 2014 for mention while the defendant was taken to Ikoyi Prison pending when he will meet his bail conditions.
