Rivers State Police Uncovers New Ways Of Robbing Via ATM

The Rivers State police Command has revealed that criminals have devised means of robbing unsuspecting members of the public.

The Command in a statement signed by the PPRO, Ahmad Mohammad warned the public to be wary of criminals who disguise as passengers, kidnap their victim and make them
withdraw some money with their ATM cards before they are released.

While stressing that many people had fallen victim of such acts, the command hinted that
the criminals make use of cabs to perpetrate the act.

According to the statement, "The Rivers State Police Command wishes to inform the general
public of the new technique employed by criminals to access their victim's bank accounts.

"The unsuspecting victim is usually abducted, be forced to reveal his ATM PIN number and kept hostage while same ATM card is use by criminals to withdraw money from his account.

"Such victim regains freedom only after his bank account has been exhausted. Public transport commuters mostly falls victims of this new
method.

"Members of the public are hereby advised to be distrustful of any taxi with two or three young men on board and desist from the habit of moving about with their ATM card on them
unless it is most necessary, please".
