Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday appointed retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Chris Olakpe as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). His wealth of experience reportedly recommended him for the job.
His appointment, according to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Habib Aruna, 'is in response to the consistent complaints by the public on the situation of traffic on the streets of Lagos.'
The Governor had earlier on being reported to have dismissed the former 'docile' boss of the agency that has been responsible for the major traffic clearance in Lagos and one of the most notable state agencies in the country.
We hope and believe the traffic situation in the state which has been so poor of late, will surely be improved upon with the introduction of the new boss.
