The killers of Elozino Joshualia Ogege, a 300 level student of Delta State University, have given a chilling account of how she was killed.

Elozino, a First Class student, was murdered by a 4-man gang consisting of 2 Yahoo boys, a security guard at her school, and a native doctor, as she innocently sought accommodation.

The men gave a confession to newsmen yesterday, November 28, while being paraded at the Delta State Police Command.

The suspects revealed how they killed Elozino with the help of a security guard, Onos, who offered to assist the victim to secure an accommodation.

Onos said:

I was contacted by Desmond and another to provide a female student for Yahoo rituals. We had planned it, and when Elozino approached me that she was looking for accommodation, I saw it as a good opportunity.

I contacted Desmond who told me to tell her to come back the next day. So the next day, they brought a Corola car; and when Elozino came, they used something on her face which made her unconscious.

We took her to a bush where we first plucked out one of her eyes while she was still alive. She was even crying and begging us to forgive her and let her go, but we plucked the other eye, removed her breast and heart before she died.

During his confession, Onos implicated his supervisor by claiming that he was posted into the school by his supervisor for the purposes of carrying out such missions when contacted.

But the Supervisor with a security company attached to the University, Uche Nwaosisi, denied knowledge of the crime, stating that he was among those who went after Onos when the police came to look for him in the school.

According to him:

Each time we killed, we removed the vital organs like the eyes, the heart and the breast of the victims, normally females, and take to the Baba (herbalist), who usually would ask us to come back.

Baba used to burn the heart and pound it to make powder substance out of it. It is the powder that he gives us, which we apply before speaking to our victims to make money from them. Any big woman we approach obliges us and provides money for us.

The native doctor, identified as Robinson, denied being involved in previous murders and said God is his witness. He said Elozino’s heart and eye happened to be the first he received from the Yahoo Plus customers.

He said he first met the boys seven years ago when they brought an accident victim for him to cure, maintaining that he specializes in treating bone fractures, making women pregnant, preparing love portions for people, curing appendicitis and others.

He said when they came with Elozino’s body parts, they gave him N10,000, promising to give him more money later, and asked him to make them rich.

The second Yahoo Plus suspect who was an accomplice of Desmond's allegedly slumped and died as the police were closing in on him. The female relative who was used to make a call relating to their illicit operation - a minor - was arrested and is in police custody.

Addressing the journalists, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka maintained that, now that all the killers of Elozino have been caught except the one who slumped and died, the police will arraign them in court.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, has ordered the posthumous trial and dismissal of an operative of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Inspector Olukunle Olonade.

Late Olonade, who was in mufti, had allegedly shot dead an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Rotimi Adeyemi, at the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State on Wednesday.  The LASTMA official had reportedly confronted the policeman, who had contravened the state traffic law. In the ensuing altercation, the policeman was reported to have entered his car and brought out a gun with which he killed the victim.

The police spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, said residents who witnessed the incident, thought Olonade was an armed robber and mobbed him. He noted that although the inspector was rescued by a police team who arrived in the scene, the policeman died on the way to a hospital.

He said, “On November 28, around 6pm, the driver of a Toyota Highlander SUV, with registration number LSR 277 BJ, later identified as Police Inspector Olukunle Olonade, attached to FSARS Ikeja while driving along Iyana-Ipaja Road, was contravened for driving against traffic by a LASTMA official, one Rotimi Adeyemi, aged 46 years at Iyana-Ipaja Roundabout.

The two men vehemently disagreed with each other. However, during the altercation, the said Inspector Olukunle Olonade allegedly shot the LASTMA officer to death. Consequently,  an irate mob, who thought that the shooter was an armed hoodlum because he was in mufti, descended on him and beat him to stupor.

Although he was later rescued by teams of policemen drafted to the scene, he later gave up the ghost while being rushed to a hospital for treatment. The serial number of the pistol recovered at the scene was checked in the system and it revealed the bearer as Inspector Olukunle Olonade attached to FSARS Ikeja.

Corpses of the deceased have been evacuated to the morgue for autopsy. The CP Lagos has directed that the late Inspector Olakunle Olonade be tried posthumously in orderly room and be recommended for dismissal from the Force.”

The bank accounts of suspects being tried in court over allegations of corruption by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and whose names appear on the looters list released by the Federal government earlier this year, have been allegedly frozen on the orders of the Federal government. This is according to a report by TheCable.

The embargo placed on the accounts is part of the implementation of the Executive Order No. 6 on the “preservation of suspicious assets connected with corruption and other relevant offences” signed by President Buhari in October 2018.

A former Minister who confirmed this development, said he tried to withdraw money from his account recently but couldn't.

“I issued a cheque of N250,000 to a friend and it was turned down. When I called my account officer, he invited me for a meeting, where I was told there is a ‘post no debit’ instruction on all my accounts because of the executive order. They told me I am not the only one affected. All persons undergoing trial are affected.” a former Minister whose name is on the looters list told TheCable

Recall that on Tuesday November 27th, former PDP spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, told a court in Abuja that he has not been able to access his account as the EFCC has placed an embargo on it. Metuh is among the list of Nigerians  on the looters list.

On March 30th, Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, released the looters list following a challenge from Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman of the PDP.

“The PDP has challenged us to name the looters under their watch. They said they did not loot the treasury. Well, I am sure they know that the treasury was looted dry under their watch. Yet they decided to grandstand. This shows the hollowness of their apology. This list is just a tip of the iceberg, and the PDP is aware of this. We did not make these cases up. Many of these cases are in court and the records are available.” Lai Mohammed had said shortly after releasing the list

Among those listed were Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser; Dieziani Alison-Madukwe, former minister of petroleum resources; Kenneth Minimah, former chief of army staff; Alex Badeh, former chief of defence staff; Inde Dikko, former comptroller-general of customs; and  Bala Mohammed, former minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).

Others are Stella Oduah, a serving senator; Babangida Aliyu, former Niger State governor; Jonah Jang, former Plateau governor; Nenadi Usman, former minister of finance; Bashir Yuguda, former minister of state for finance; Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation; Raymond Dokpesi, founder of DAAR Communications and Uche Secondus, national chairman of the PDP.

Cross River State Civil servants have received their December salary, barely four days after getting their November pay, Brainnews report.

This is even as the state is yet to receive federal allocation for November.

In the past years it has become a tradition in the state under the governorship of Senator Ben Ayade, for workers in the state to receive their December salaries in November.

According to reports, although a section of the workforce has on many occasions protested against early payment of salaries in the state, Governor Ayade has stayed steadfast to early payment of salaries.

On the rationale for the payment of December late November, the Governor explained that the idea is to get workers to do their shopping early, to avoid inflation that always occasion shopping close to Christmas.

“We pay workers in the state early to usher in the Christmas festivities that begin in the state on December 1st. Besides, it also saves our workers the stress and strain of shopping close to Christmas given the tendency for prices of goods to skyrocket.

“So by paying early we ensure that our workers do their Christmas shopping early, thus getting true value for their money instead of buying goods at highly inflated prices if they shopped close to Christmas.

Given that the payment of December salary was done early, he assured that salary for the month of January will also be paid early.

“Because we have paid December salary early, we will also pay January salary early so as to assist our workers who are parents meet up with the obligation of paying schools fees for their children,” Ayade assured.

The Ikotun Police Division in Lagos have started manhunt for a man identified as Solomon, who chased his wife and two kids away after taking sex enhancing drugs but the wife refused him sex.

In anger, Solomon chased both the wife and children away from home and swore that he no longer wanted them.

The incident happened at Prophet Amowo Street by Onitire bus stop in Abaranje, Ikotun,Lagos where they reside.

The wife, Mrs. Ijeoma, claimed that she refused him sex after she discovered that he had taken sex enhancing drugs and would have tormented her during their sex romps which usually lasted for several hours before he would release.

The embattled Ijeoma said that she got married to Solomon some years back and they had the children having normal sex with him. She said that at a time, Solomon’s sex behaviour changed as he would make love to her for hours non stop and almost killed her during one of the romps.

She narrated that she was troubled that her husband might kill her one day and had to investigate why he lasted so long in the romps. It was then that she discovered that he was taking sex enhancing drugs before meeting her on the bed.

On Tuesday, Solomon chased her and the children away, threw their belongings outside, locked their house and went out. Ijeoma was said to have refused because she caught him taking the drugs. She identified as one of them as Tramadol.

The incident was said to have caused commotion in the area as some of the residents contacted the Child Protection Agency to come to the rescue of the woman and the children.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the CPA has rescued Ijeoma and the children and they were said to be in protective custody.

The matter was reported to the police who have moved to arrest Solomon who was said to be on the run over the incident.

When our reporter visited Ikotun Police Division where the matter was reported, the DPO, CSP Abubakar Tsav, was not on seat to comment on the matter. However, police sources confirmed the incident and said that the police have commenced investigation into the matter.

This was also confirmed by the officials of CPA who said that they were on top of the situation.

The estranged teenage daughter of movie star Jackie Chan, has announced that she has married her 31-year-old Canadian girlfriend.

As reported by Asian news site, Coconuts, the happy couple shared a picture of Ms Ng, 19, and social media personality Andi Autumn with their apparent marriage certificate, dated 8 November.

Media reports said the pair registered their marriage in Canada, and are now in Ms Ng’s native Hong Kong.

The news was celebrated online, and trended on Chinese platform, Weibo.

Ms Ng is martial arts star Chan’s only child with actor and former beauty queen Elaine Ng Yi Lei following an affair the couple had in 1999.

She was raised by her mother but local media reports suggest their relationship was fraught with tension in recent years.

“We have all been hurt but if you can dream of love, you can find it,” the couple wrote in their photo caption. “Love is kind, it does not judge. Love is both strength and weakness. Love can make change. Love wins!”

Ms Ng and Ms Autumn are said to have begun dating in late 2017 and Ms Ng moved to Canada shortly thereafter.

In April, the couple made a public plea for help on YouTube, claiming they were homeless for a month “due to homophobic parents”.

This was disputed by Ms Ng’s mother, who told the Asian news site, Coconuts the couple “should go find work” and not rely on Ms Ng’s father’s fame to get money.

The Anti-kidnapping Squad of the Lagos State Police Command, has smashed a kidnapping syndicate at Agbowa, Ikorodu, leading to the arrest of 27-year-old Austine Inuesokan Ebimiyenwei, a native of Arogbo Azapa community of Ese-Odo LGA, Ondo state and recovery of corpse of one Festus Abama who died during exchange of fire while two escaped with bullet wounds.

The Command had on November 13th and 16th respectively, received two separate reports from one Suleiman Eniola Ajumobi and one Veronica Ewuru 'f ' about the kidnapping of their daughter and husband respectively. While Suleiman Eniola Ajumobi reported that his 7-year-old daughter was kidnapped from his house in his presence, Veronica Ewuru stated that her husband, one DSP Patrick Ewuru, a police officer attached to Force Headquarters annex, Obalende, was kidnapped from their house in the night when the victim came out to check on the Power Generating Set that suddenly stopped working.

The kidnappers demanded for ransom of twenty five million Naira (N25,000,000) from Mr Suleiman and ten million Naira (N10,000,000 ) from the family of DSP Patrick Ewuru but later settled for five hundred thousand Naira  (N500,000) for both families.

At this point, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Edgal Imohimi, directed operatives handling the matter to play along with the Kidnappers in the interest of the victims who were still in captivity. As soon as the release of the two victims was secured, the Kidnappers hideout at Agbowa was busted and the aforementioned Kidnapper was killed in the ensuing gun battle while Austine Inuesokan Ebimiyenwei surrendered.

The suspect confessed to the crime and victims have identified both the deceased and Austine Inuesokan Ebimiyenwei as those who kidnapped them. Concerted effort is being made to arrest those on the run while the suspect already in police custody will be charged to court.

A British man scammed of £20,000 after sending money to a fake African girlfriend he met online, actually believed he was going to meet with the love of his life at the airport in his home country.

Simon Frost, 75, could not believe his luck when he was matched with Eva – a young beauty who spoke of setting up home with him.

But the woman in the pictures was really US porn star Briana Lee, 28, whose photo has been lifted repeatedly by cheats for this very purpose.

Grandad Simon turned to internet dating after his wife of 10 years left him.

He joined a website called Real Sex Contacts in February 2017 and two months later was introduced to Eva, supposedly a hospital worker from Ghanaian capital Accra.

She sent a picture, Simon fell in love and he was persuaded to part with more than £19,000.

In an exchange of messages she even teased out information about his bank cards.

But when the time came for them to meet in the UK in August this year, Eva didn’t show up and he has not heard from her since.

Simon, from Soham, Cambs, said he was speaking out to stop others falling for the same scam.

He said:

“I genuinely believed the relationship was real. I don’t understand why anyone would treat me like that. I had good intentions and was looking for a genuine relationship.

“It has put me off trying anything like this ever again. I would rather be lonely than go through all of this trauma.”

Simon said he and Eva had called each other “babe” and “husband” and talked of buying a house for a new life together. But she was spinning a web of lies to get him to part with his dosh.

She said she needed cash to get court documents so that she could access her father’s £5million inheritance which included a stash of gold.

Simon sent £6,000 savings, £3,000 on credit cards and two £5,000 advances from payday loan company Amigo.

He also paid £1,600 for Eva’s flight to the UK in August this year – when he expected her to repay him.

But Eva failed to turn up and when he was unable to contact her it became clear he had been scammed.

Idris quickly acted on the petition by instructing IRT operatives to investigate the case and arrest the blackmailers. The phone used in the blackmail was recovered and over 30 pictures of naked men were found on it.

He added that Government would not hesitate to sanction any Organization, Institution or affiliation that denies Nigerians the right to observe their holidays as provided in the Act by an “appropriate authority”.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Razaki Abesopiti, 50; Okeowo Kazeem, 46; Babatunde Giwa, 50; Ade Aliu, 43; and Musiliu Yakubu, 56, for allegedly conspiring to dismember the corpse of one Mary Ehinlaiye at Sabo Cemetery in the Ikorodu area of the state.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, during a press briefing on Friday, said the brother of the deceased alerted the Command to the incident, adding that investigation into the matter revealed that the corpse, which was deposited at St. Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital’s mortuary, was released to another family. .

He added that in a bid to recover the corpse that had been buried at the Sabo Cemetery, it was discovered that the aforementioned suspects allegedly conspired among themselves to dismember the body of the deceased.
Imohimi said, “On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, the Command received a complaint from one Anthony Lawani, younger brother to one Mary Ehinlaiye, 51, now deceased, that body parts of the deceased were sliced off by yet-to-be identified persons.

Senate President Bukola Saraki has approached President Muhammadu Buhari to institute an inquiry into the death of the prime suspect in the April 5 Offa robbery attacks, Michael Adikwu, because it has several implications for the country’s legal system.

Saraki, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yusuph Olaniyonu, also noted that the development could affect the nation’s engagement with the international community

He said the international community had consistently cited the issues of human rights abuse and extrajudicial killings by security forces as major reasons for their reluctance to sell arms to Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram.

The Senate President stated,“One of the key issues those of us who have been engaging with the international community on the need for them to support Nigeria in the fight against terrorism in the North-East through supply of arms, provision of training and other technical aid has been confronting is that of the flagrant abuse of human rights and extrajudicial killings by our security agencies.

“This is an instance of what these international partners complain about. The Presidency should make a point that the present government does not tolerate human rights abuse, extrajudicial killings, politically-motivated criminal investigation and refusal to comply with global best practices by security agencies by instituting an inquiry into the case of the death of this suspect.”

The Senate President called for diligent prosecution of the case so that justice could be done to the innocent victims of the Offa robbery, the suspects facing trial and the state whose peace was disturbed by the sad incident.

President Buhari has stated corrupt leaders that have stolen the wealth of the Nation will not escape going to jail. President Buhari said this today when he received a delegation of APC leaders from Benue state in the presidential villa, Abuja.

A statement from his media aide, Femi Adesina, quotes President Buhari saying that the misappropriations of funds meant for the development of the people is unjust and unfair to workers.

“I honestly don’t know how people sleep when workers have not been paid. The workers have to pay rent, buy food, send their children to school and they have healthcare to take care of. I assure you that my main interest is all Nigerians in all parts of the country. Therefore, if anybody who tries to create any impression that I prefer any group across ethnicity or religion let him dare me by being caught red handed stealing public funds.  I will deal with him’’ he said

President Buhari told the party leaders that the farmes and herdsmen clashes witnessed in Benue, Zamfara and Taraba, are being carried out by “ungodly’’ people who had no religious or ethnic inclinations.

“We know about herders. The ones we knew carried sticks, and sometimes cutlasses to cut foliage for their cattle. We now have people who carry AK 47s and pretend they are herdsmen. We are working hard to secure our borders. We are going to see how the old cattle routes can be opened. We will control movement. Please beg our people to be patient,’’ he said

The President pointed out that security personnel were already uncovering the network of the killers and arresting them.

Police in Anambra State have arrested some ladies who feign blindness and use rented kids to beg for alms. They were arrested by the taskforce team of Anambra Ministry of Women Affairs, Social welfare and Children Development.

One of the suspects revealed that one Edith who hails from Ebonyi state and is currently at large, brings the kids to them every morning for them to rent at N1,000 per day.

During interrogation, the Commissioner in-charge of the Ministry was able to discover that the kids don't even know where their real parents are. It is being speculated that they are victims of kidnapping or trafficking.

It was also discovered that the group of fake beggars camp at Army Barracks, Onitsha and none of them are from Anambra State. Most of them are from Ebonyi, Abia, Kogi and Imo states.

According to the latest batch of Football Leaks reports, Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos failed a drugs test in the aftermath of his team's 2017 Champions League final, which they won 4-1 victory over Juventus.

German newspaper Der Spiegel reports that Ramos' urine sample contained traces of dexamethasone, and that the results were covered up by UEFA.

The cortisone preparation is on the list kept by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) of substances that are prohibited in competition.

Administration of dexamethasone prior to a match is permitted, but a team doctor must report its use on doping control forms, but this was missing.

The Real Madrid doctor has admitted to giving Ramos two injections of dexamethasone the day before the final in June last year, one in his shoulder and another in his knee.

He then noted in his doping report that Ramos had received treatment with another anti-inflammatory drug containing betamethasone, which is also on WADA's list of banned substances in competition.

UEFA accepted the doctor's reasoning and claim it was made 'in compliance' with WADA code.

Football Leaks claim that when they contacted Real Madrid and Ramos they had no comment to make.

The Football Leaks revelations also claim that Ramos' former team-mate Ronaldo 'complained that he was always selected' for testing when UEFA arrived at the club's training ground for random testing in February 2017.

Real Madrid accused the UEFA testers of inadequacy, and claimed the anti-doping officer stuck Ronaldo twice with a needle without finding a vein.

UEFA, Real Madrid and Ronaldo all withheld comment when asked by Der Spiegel about the incident.

The Ondo State Police Command have arrested one Moses Olaniyi, for allegedly clubbing a 70-year-old woman, Medinat Ala, to death and carting away with vital organs of her body in her room at Okeegbe area of Ikare Akoko in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

According to reports, Madam Ala was found dead by neighbors on Wednesday morning,  November 21st. Her breast, womb and private part, were cut off by the suspected ritualists.

One of the neighbors of the deceased said

“The deceased was clubbed to death with a pestle by the ritualists in the early hours of Wednesday and a neighbour, who was trying to rescue her, was almost killed by the ritualists. The neighbour was living in the house with the late Medinat Ala; she woke up when she heard strange voices in the deceased’s room; and as she was trying to go into the room, one of the ritualists hit her with a pestle on the head. She was rushed to the hospital. “

Her remains was later deposited in the morgue of the Ondo State Specialists Hospital, Ikare Akoko.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Femi Joseph, said the killing was perfectly done because the assailants opened the door to the deceased’s room and after the dastardly act; they closed the door and left the house.

“We have arrested one person and we have begun our investigation. We shall get to the root of the matter,” he said.

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has confirmed his retirement from playing, ending "an amazing 20 years".

The 40-year old Ivory Coast striker had two spells at Chelsea, scoring 164 goals in 381 games, winning four Premier Leagues and the 2012 Champions League. He spent the last 18 months of his career with US side Phoenix Rising, the club he co-owns.  "After 20 years, I have decided to put an end to my playing career," he told BBC World Service's Sportshour.

It had been expected Drogba would retire after the United Soccer League Cup final earlier this month, with his last game a 1-0 defeat by Louisville City in the final of the United States' second tier.

"It's the best way to end, helping some young talent to develop. To give something back to the game was the best way to finish as I have learned so much in the game." Drogba did not play top-flight football until the age of 23, when French side Guingamp signed him from Ligue 2 Le Mans in January 2002.  He moved to Marseille 18 months later and the following year completed a reported £24m move to Chelsea, where he had the best spell of his career.

Drogba won three Premier League titles in his first eight years at Chelsea, including in each of his first two seasons in England, as well as four FA Cups and two League Cups.  He also won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2006-07 and 2009-10.

He left on a high, scoring the winning penalty in the Champions League final shootout against Bayern Munich.  Drogba then spent six months with Shanghai Shenhua and a year and a half with Galatasaray before returning to Chelsea.

He scored seven goals in 2014-15, winning a fourth Premier League title and a third League Cup, leaving the club as their fourth highest scorer of all time.  In 2015, he joined Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact and then became player-owner of Phoenix Rising. He scored 65 times in 105 caps for the Ivory Coast, playing in three World Cups and being named African Footballer of the Year twice.

Former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, has denied ownership of six properties EFCC operatives  sealed off today claiming that they belong to him.

There were reports earlier today that some properties linked to the governor in Abuja and Ekiti state, were sealed off with the sign ''EFCC, Keep off'' placed on them. The sealing of the properties may be connected to a court order which authorised the seizure of the properties suspected to have been built with corrupt proceeds. Recall that Fayose is standing trial for a N2.2 billion fraud perpetrated while in office.

Reacting to the news, Fayose in a statement released by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, denied ownership of the sealed properties. He said the agency went about sealing off properties belonging to innocent citizens.

“I have just been informed that operatives of the EFCC are going about sealing houses of innocent people in the state, under the guise that the houses are linked to me. This is another wild goose chase and the usual media campaign against my person.

It is only in our country that an anti corruption agency will first go about sealing houses before determining the ownership, which can be done so easily by visiting relevant agencies. I am therefore, informing the public ahead of their usual blackmail and media trial. Please note that none of the property in question is owned by me and the records are there for anyone that is interested to see.

The EFCC is advised to stop going about looking for ways to malign my person just because of their hatred as a result of my uncompromising stands on national issues. Even if the commission is being pressured from ‘above’ to persecute me at all cost, it should at least, do its job diligently to save itself from persistent embarrassment''.

The Presidency has issued a strongly worded statement rejecting former president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan’s claim that there is more corruption in the country compared to when he left office.

This is absolutely untrue. The facts on the ground today run contrary to his outlandish claim.

The statement said President Buhari in pursuit of the war against corruption, has set a number of local and international records, one of which is to call judicial officers in Nigeria to account. He is the first to set such a record. Not only that, this is the first time that top military commanders and Service Chiefs are brought to trial and convictions were achieved on account of corruption.

Read the rest of the statement below...

Also, this is the first time a ruling party is convicting high profile citizens including former governors, who are members of same party. This is the first time the international community is acknowledging the efforts of a government of Nigeria in this regard as manifested by the selection of President Buhari by the African Union as the Anti-Corruption Champion of the continent.

For the records, this is the first time a ruling party is investigating ranking officers of the administration, including some at the very top.

In addition to the many firsts recorded by President Buhari’s administration, the government has introduced a lot of changes, considering that the laws relating to the fight against corruption cannot reasonably be static.

In line with its aspiration to be ahead of the growing sophistication of corruption and financial crimes, the administration has initiated new legislations and proposed amendments to different sections of laws, among which are:

• The Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Bill 2017;

• Anti-Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Bill 2017;

• Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit Bill 2017 (NFIU);

• Proceeds of Crime Bill 2017;

• Public Interest Disclosure and Witness Protection Bill, 2017 and

• The Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill, 2017.

Owing to these efforts and support all of relevant stakeholders, NFIU Act has been passed and President Buhari gave his assent on July 18, 2018. The administration is currently working with the legislature for an expedited passage of the Proceeds of Crimes Bill to make the anti-corruption war more effective.

Nigerians should dismiss Dr. Jonathan’s hollow boast that he, not President Buhari, introduced schemes such the Biometric Verification Number, VBN, Treasury Single Account, TSA and the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPS). Of what use is the announcement of good policies without the will to implement them?

Since President Buhari assumed office, Nigerians are witnesses to the huge success recorded through the implementation of the TSA where some government agencies that had over the years remitted peanut amounts or nothing at all are now periodically pumping billions into government coffers. Prominent among these remittances include the ones made by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria Customers Service (NCS) and Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

While it is also true that the BVN was introduced in 2014 to ensure that all bank accounts have biometric identification of their owners, the lack of will and capacity under Dr Jonathan stalled implementation. Today, BVN covers nearly all bank accounts. There are still some individuals who have shielded their identity and are now afraid of enrolling on the BVN platform as this will expose them and their corrupt actions. The law is going after them.

President Buhari’s administration introduced the whistle-blower policy as a veritable tool against corruption as it gives individuals an opportunity to expose corruption, fraud, bribery, looted government funds, financial misconducts, government assets and any other form of corruption or theft. Within six months of introducing this policy, over 5,000 reports were made through various channels, 365 actionable tips were received out of the 5000 reports. So far more than N200bn has been recovered.

As the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), said on Thursday, the former President does not have the facts to claim that there was any serious effort on the part of his administration to fight corruption.

As at 29th May 2015, when this administration came into office, the EFCC recovery account had only N19.5 billion as revealed by the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General. After one year of the new anti-corruption drive by the Buhari administration, this figure had gone up to N279 billion, and since then a lot more has been recovered.

Finally, as evidenced from a fleeting look at the book, the former President had nothing to say about his own achievements. If there was a recession, and yes we had a moment in it, was it due to one year of President Buhari’s government?

In his efforts to blame everyone but himself for his failures, Dr Jonathan heaped the blame for the predictable economic recession on President Buhari, ignoring the seeds sown under him through mismanagement and the process set in firm roots for the decline of the economy. Evidently, he did nothing to avert the situation.

As we have explained over and over, the recession in 2016 was caused by years of mismanagement and corruption. In the 16 years of PDP and earlier than that, the country solely relied on oil, the price of which was as high as 140 USD per barrel under their watch. Government simply reticulated oil revenue through personal spending by corrupt leaders, wasteful expenses and salaries; rather than investing in what would grow the economy. There was no investment in infrastructure as President Buhari is now doing in seaports, airports, power plants, railways, roads and housing.

The oil windfall for the country was mismanaged, and Nigeria’s greatest opportunity for growth was turned into a tragedy. More worrisome, there were no savings. And to compound the problem and compromise growth of the economy, the previous government borrowed heavily, owed contractors and international oil companies. When President Buhari came into power in 2015, the country had accumulated debt, which took it back to the level it was before the Paris Club Debt forgiveness. Nigeria did not have fiscal buffers to withstand an oil shock when oil prices fell to as low as 28 USD.

The oil shock should and could have been foreseen. When visionary Nigerians and economists foresaw this and warned of the dangers ahead, Dr Jonathan hounded such men as the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi 11 and Professor Chukwuma Soludo. Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance under Dr Jonathan’s administration also warned and she was rebuffed.

The former President and his party have nothing to say about achievements. They ruled the country for 16 years and what is their record on jobs, power, rail, seaports, airports and internal security, including the crippling disaster of terrorism?

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arraigned 22 officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and a retired INEC director, Ahmed Stephen Ozouche, in Kogi State for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy.

They were arraigned before Justice Alaba Ajileye of the Kogi State High Court, Koton-Karefee.

It was alleged that sometimes in March 2015, the defendants engaged themselves in criminal act of conspiracy to fraudulently obtain the sum of N32, 120,000 (Thirty two Million, One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira) only as benefits to themselves during the 2015 general elections.

Prosecuting counsel, G.K. Latona, informed the court that the matter was slated for arraignment. "However, due to the absence of the second defendant, I will be seeking for a short adjournment to enable me determine the next step to take regarding the matter," he said.

The defendant was said to be among the INEC staff that lost their lives in a tragic motor accident that occurred in Kogi recently.

The defence team, however, argued that "the prosecution ought to have known by now that the second defendant cannot be in court to take his plea", and so urged the court to take the plea of the defendants in court. Justice Ajileye, thereafter, ordered those present should take their pleas.

One of the counts reads: "That you Ahmed Stephen Ozovehe, Retired Director with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)/ Election Observer, Adison Mailafiya Administrative Secretary INEC Kogi State and Ogwudu Edeh Micheal, Deputy Director, INEC sometime in March 2015 in Lokoja within the Jurisdiction of this Honorable Court did engage yourselves in criminal conspiracy to confer benefit of the sum of N32,120,000 (Thirty two million, one hundred and twenty thousand naira) only from Haliru Haruna, Sase David Z, Dauda Usman Umaru, Christopher Utile, Garba Zubairu Adamu and James Yiyeh all electoral officers of INEC in Kogi State in relation to their function of conducting the General Elections, 2015 and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 26(1)(i) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Act. 2000 and punishable under Section 10(a)(ii) of the same Act."

They all pleaded "not guilty" when the charge was read to them.

They were afterwards admitted to bail in the sum of N10 million, one surety in like sum, the surety must not be below level 12 and must be a Civil Servant (State or Federal).

Matter has been adjourned to December 6 and 13, 2018 for hearing.

In another development, the EFCC also arraigned Helena Chinelo Odogwu a cash officer at United Bank for Africa, Adankolo Branch Lokoja, before Justice Ajileye on a one-count charge bordering on theft and misappropriation of N8 million ( Eight Million naira) only.

It was alleged by a petitioner that the defendant stole from the vault and misappropriated the said sum of money when she was the cash officer.

In the course of the investigation it was discovered that N8m was missing from the vault and the defendant manipulated the record of the bank to conceal the fraudulent act.

The charge reads: "That you Helena Chinelo Odogwu on or about the 17th day of July, 2018 in Lokoja within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court while being the cash officer of Adankolol branch of United Bank of Africa (UBA) Lokoja, stole the sum of Eight Million Naira (N8, 000,000) being money belonging to the United Bank for Africa and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 286 of the Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 287 of the same Act."

The defendant pleaded "not guilty" to the charge.

The defendant was thereafter admitted to bail in sum of N5m, one surety in like sum; surety must not be below the level of a principal officer.

Matter has been adjourned to December 13th 2018 for hearing.

The principal suspect in the Offa bank robbery, Michael Adikwu, a dismissed police constable is dead.

Kwara State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN disclosed this at a Kwara State High Court on Wednesday, when five of the six principal suspects were brought to court.

The five suspects arraigned were Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Adeola Abraham, Salaudeen Azeez and Niyi Ogundiran.

However, Michael Adikwu, the former police constable, who was said to have confessed to being the mastermind of the bloody operation was not in court during the arraignment.

No fewer than 32 people were killed in the robbery operation which involved five commercial banks on April 5, 2018.

When the case came up, Ajibade, who said that his office received the case file of the robbery operation on Monday evening said that the head of Police investigation team, Mr Abba Kyari informed him that one of the suspects, Michael Adikwu was dead.

Ajibade. who said that the police was yet to give details of Adikwu’s death said that the five suspects brought to court could not be charged until an amendment was made on the charge sheet.

According to him, “we have the names of six suspects on our charge sheet, but they brought five suspects, we cannot go on with the case until we amend the charges because we can not prosecute a dead person.

The Attorney General also said that the case could not go on because the suspects had no legal representation.

He, however, urged the court to adjourn the case so that the charges could be amended and the suspects could get legal team to represent them.

It would be recalled that two lawyers who were representing the suspects announced their withdrawal from the case last week.

Justice Halima Salman adjourned the matter till November 30, 2018 and ordered that the suspects should get a legal team.

So Blac Chyna will be in Nigeria this coming sunday, 25th November, 2018 for the launch of “Whitenicious X Blac Chyna Diamond Illuminating & Lightening Cream”.

The cream is supposedly said to go for $250 dollars per jar, that's roughly N90,750.

Recall, Chyna last month tweeted she was coming to Nigeria? Well, she has made another statement on her IG inviting all to meet her this Sunday at whitenicious store in Lagos.

Shortly after their exchange of vows and before signing their marriage certificate at the Ikoyi Registry on Saturday Nov 17th, a man and his bride were asked to kiss and hug to formalize the union which is a norm and shouldn't be a problem. Well, that is because they haven't met this woman who completely refused to kiss her husband saying hugging and kissing in public is forbidden in her church.

The woman, believed to be a member of Jehovah's Witness,  was adamant as court officials tried to explain the importance of the kiss. Her refusal to kiss her husband delayed the ceremony for close to 20mins as the court registrars also refused to go further with the ceremony.
