Sisters Who Were Kidnapped In Abuja Released

The two sisters, Ejura Opaluwa and Unekwu Opaluwa, abducted nine days ago from their home in Karmo, Abuja, have been released this morning and are now back home.

An uncle to the abducted girls, Mr Amadi Opaluwa, confirmed this this morning.

Although he was reluctant to say whether or not the family paid the N150 million ransom demanded by their captors.

"We are very grateful to God that the girls are back," the uncle said. "We are very excited."

He added that the family will address a press conference tomorrow.

It would be recalled that Ejura and Unekwu were abducted by five gunmen on 8 June from their father's house at Associated Estate, No. 55, Impresit Camp, Karmo. The gunmen had carried out a robbery attack on the family and were said to be dissatisfied with the amount of money found and thus abducted the girls. Their abductors had first asked for a N200 million ransom but they later called the family and reduced it to
N150 million.
