John Mikel Obi has been accused of assaulting a female journalist, who works with Abuja-based radio station KISS FM.
According to reports, the Super Eagles midfielder lost his temper after the journalist approached him
for an interview after training.
BBC reporter Oluwashina Okeleji, first brought the story into public domain when he tweeted: "A female journalist has claimed #Nigeria's Mikel Obi assaulted her after training on Monday, when she approached him for an interview.
"The journalist, who works for Kiss FM in Abuja, said she's forgiven Mikel Obi after the assault, according to team media officer Ben Alaiya."
This incident comes just days after former media officer of the Super Eagles Colin Udoh, alleged that the Chelsea player also assaulted him on a plane back from Sudan, where the Eagles were beaten 1-0.
According to him, Mikel unleashed a "vitriolic assault" on a "former captain of the team" and had a "few choice words" for other squad members.
The midfielder was in action on Wednesday night, as Nigeria defeated Sudan 3-1 in Abuja, in a AFCON 2015 qualifying match.
