Equatorial Guinea To Now Host 2015 Nations Cup

The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in
Equatorial Guinea between 17th January and 8th
February, according to Friday's announcement
from the Confederation of African Football
(CAF), which has been looking for an alternative
venue after Morocco's withdrawal as hosts.

Rabat, originally agreed on as the host venue,
requested a postponement over fears of a spread
of the Ebola virus. The Confederation refused to
change the date of the event and the Kingdom
of Morocco, as well as their national team, have
been excluded from the 30th tournament.

The Equatorial Guinea national side, which
previously co-hosted the event with Gabon in
2012, were confirmed as hosts on Friday
following a meeting in Malabo between the
president of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea,
Teodoro Obiang, and CAF president, Issa
Hayatou .
The four venues selected for the final stage are
Malabo, Bata, Mongomo and Ebebiyin. The draw
will take place on Wednesday, 3rd December in
Malabo.
