Police Begin Manhunt For Husband Of Kidnapper Nanny

The Police in Lagos have begun a massive manhunt for Waheed Kareem, the husband of 35-year-old kidnapper nanny, Funmilayo Adeyemi.

The Police spokesperson, Kenneth Nwosu, told SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday that the picture of the suspect had been released to the public to facilitate his quick arrest.

The PUNCH had reported that Funmilayo kidnapped three Lagos children — Demola Orekoya, 6; Adedamola, 4; and Aderomola, 11months- after being employed through OLX, an online sales portal.
She abducted the family's three children in less than 24 hours after she was employed.

The group of kidnappers, which consisted of Funmilayo, her husband, Kareem, her brother-in-law, Hakeem and her sister-in-law, had demanded the payment of N15m as ransom which was later reduced to N13m.

About a week after the abduction, the victims' family was said to have raised some of the money and paid before the kids were released.

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, led by the Offier-in-Charge, Abba Kyari, had led an operation which led to the arrest of Adeyemi in the Shasha area of Lagos.

She confessed to have been behind the kidnap of two other boys-Raphael and Michael-in the Magodo area of Lagos, saying the children's parents paid N3m as ransom.

She however said her husband, Kareem, was the brain behind all the kidnaps, adding that she was only paid N30, 000 after ransom was collected for the Magodo boys.

Nwosu said, "Yes, we have released his picture and it's out there for members of the public."
