DSS Compulsory Retires Former Spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar

The Department of State Services, DSS, has sent 15 senior officials, including two directors, on compulsory retirement.
The former spokesperson of DSS and a Deputy Director, Marilyn Ogar, was one of those affected by the gale of retirements that swept through the services.
The signal announcing the development was released by the leadership of the service, Wednesday night.
Ogar was in charge of public relations at the agency prior to the conduct of the 2015 general elections, but was removed two months ago while she equally lost her recent promotion following President Muhammadu Buhari's nullification of the exercise.
Ogar and 44 others were promoted last March contrary to the policy in DSS that promotions were to be done at the end of each year. Also, their promotion was not made public until May.
The demotion of the former DSS spokesperson and many other officers was the first decision taken by the Director-General, DSS, Lawal Daura, who succeeded Ita Ekpeyong.
Although media reports said Ogar was redeployed to Maiduguri, Borno State after her demotion, but this was not confirmed by the service until her retirement.
The service had come under criticisms for not appointing a replacement for Ogar months after her removal from the public relations department of the service.
Ogar was promoted to Deputy Director following a presidential commendation by former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was impressed by her public enlightenment campaigns against terrorism, but her last promotion to the position of a director was nullified.
