About a week ago, it was the problem of power failure at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos. On wednesday evening at around 7.30pm, a gang of armed bandits stormed the airport and attacked some Bureau De Change traders. Unconfirmed reports have it that two policemen were shot dead, and one of the robbers was not lucky as well in the attack.
Armed policemen arrived moments after the robbers left. Some passengers who just arrived the country were left terrified, as some of them expressed shock at the development. A popular editor of a fashion magazine who just came in to the country said these: "just escaped a hail of bullets at the MMIA Lag along with my siblings. Three policemen killed. Others wounded. Sheer pandemonium. Airport police ran into hiding along with the rest of us. The robbers were said to have made away with large sums, in dollars and reportedly being ferried to Dubai as the money arrived the car park. Still in shock."
Well we just hope the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria takes steps to tighten security within and around the airport.
