Ideye Hits Brace As Super Eagles Defeat Burkina Faso 4-1 In Kaduna

Brown Ideye, who was left on the bench for the Nigeria vs Malawi game on Saturday, scored twice as the Super Eagles defeated Burkina Faso 4-1 in a friendly played in Kaduna today.

Ideye struck as early as the 13th minute, after a terrible error between the Burkinababe goalkeeper and his defenders, to tap in the opener. He added a second 30minutes later, shortly before half-time, after a lovely breakaway by Nigeria. John Ogu took out three defenders with a fine pass and all Ideye needed to do, was clip the ball over the stranded goalkeeper. Shola Ameobi also made it three, but saw his header go wide.

The Newcastle striker did not need to wait too long for his first international goal. In the 53rd minute, Ideye and Nsofor combined for him to score and make it 3-0. Emenike got his second goal in three days in the 63rd minute of the match. Once again, it was Onazi Ogenyi who worked himself into good space and released a disguised pass for Emenike to fire in the fourth.

Burkina Faso got a consolation goal before the 90 minutes ran out.
