In a statement made yesterday by the command's Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, the crime was said to have been committed by the suspect who is also a pastor in a white garment church, on Saturday in a bushy area around his house, after waylaying and luring the victim who was sent to a nearby market by her mother.
Adejobi further explained in the statement that when the girl did not return home on time, a search party was raised by the community. The girl was found later in the day with blood all over her body.
The PPRO added that Adekoya, who is a pastor in one of the white garment churches in Shagamu, had been arrested and that he has confessed to the crime.
Adejobi added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for investigation, stressing that the suspect would be charged to court soon.
State Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, has also assured that the police would do justice in the matter.
"The police commissioner also warned those who are fond of raping women, particularly minors to stop as the command will no longer tolerate any such obnoxious act."
