PDP Disciplinary Committee Recommends Expulsion Of Oyinlola And Baraje

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Disciplinary Committee, led by Dr Umaru Dikko, has recommended the expulsion of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Alhaji Abubakar Baraje from the party.

Chief Ebenezer Babatope, the Deputy Chairman of the committee, said this on Wednesday in Abuja at a news briefing.

Also recommended for suspension, according to him, was Dr Sam Jaja, who was the Deputy National Chairman of the PDP until recently.

Babatope said the recommendation would be forwarded to the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) for ratification.

It will be recalled that the PDP NWC on Nov. 11, suspended Oyinlola, Baraje, Jaja and Alhaji Ibrahim Kazaure, Vice Chairman of the party`s North West chapter for violating the party`s constitution.

"So, the position of the committee is that the three stand expelled and one has his suspension extended by one month for him to report to the committee in two weeks time," Babatope said.

He said the committee`s recommendations was not premeditated as has been insinuated, adding that the committee met with the affected party members and gave them seven days notice to appear before it.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kazaure is expected to appear before the committee on Dec. 10 for further questioning.

The seven-man committee, which was inaugurated on Oct. 24 to ensure discipline among party members across the federation, has Mr Onwe Onwe as secretary.

Other members of the committee include Hajiya Nana Aishat-Quadir, Alhaji Hussaini Duraki, Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedokun and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

Meanwhile, Oyinlola has, in a statement, maintained that he remained the national secretary of the PDP.
