According to eye witnesses, a truck belonging to the Lord's Chosen Charismatic renewal without warning rammed into pedestrians waiting to board a bus to Orilowo Ejigbo, and hawkers after the brakes failed. The truck also colluded with several buses and a jeep before it eventually came to a halt.
Although the numbers are not official, eye witnesses say at least 18 people including children and a pregnant woman whose foetus was ripped open were killed in the accident.
The driver of the truck is said to have taken to his heels after the accident happened. As at press time, the only recorded survivor is the owner of a black jeep also involved in the collision.
The bodies had been moved to the nearest mortuary before the pictures were taken.
