Serena Williams Defeats Victoria Azaranka To Retain US Open Title

World number one female tennis player, Serena Williams yesterday retained her US Open crown with a comfortable 7-5, 6-7, 6-1, victory over Victoria Azarenka.

The Belarusian gave Williams a good fight, but she lost to Serena eventually.

This makes it her fifth US Open title, and her 17th Grand Slam equalling Roger Federer's record.

In addition, Serena picked up a cheque of £2.3 million.
