Home-based Super Eagles Crash Out Of CHAN After Penalty Loss To Ghana

The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the final of the African Nations Championship, after they lost out to the Black Stars of Ghana, in the second semi-final clash yesterday.

Stephen Keshi's men failed to score in regulation time, even though the Ghanaians had one of their players sent off late in the second half. The Eagles also did not find the back of the net in 30 minutes of extra time and the game had to be decided on penalties.

Michael Akuffo scored the first spot kick for Ghana, before Uzoenyi made it 1-1. Anobaah and Ainooson converted their spot kicks for the Black Stars, while Kwambe and Uzochukwu missed their kicks for Nigeria. It was Attobrah, who stepped up to convert the decisive kick for Ghana and send them into the finals, where they will face Libya.

Nigerian will therefore face Zimbabwe in the third-place match.
