Channels Television's online platform, mobile phone application on the Apple and Google Play stores, has topped the chart of the most downloaded free applications in Nigeria.
The firm's mobile application was ranked first in Nigeria, while in the world rankings, it is also first in Africa and ranked 16th in the World, since its release in the Apple and Google Play stores, a statement from the firm on Sunday, signed by its General Manager, Operations, Mr. Kayode Akintemi, indicated.
Channels TV's application is ranked above social media giants Whatsapp, Instagram, YouTube, Google Maps, Google Plus and Skype, the firm added.
Channels TV's global competitors Cable News Network ranks 23rd on the ranking while the British Broadcasting Corporation comes in at 173rd position, the statement explained, adding that Sports news agency Super Sport ranked 117th.
Channels TV app enables users from around the world to monitor happenings in Nigeria and globally. It is designed to work on various mobile devices ranging from the iPhone, iPad, Android powered devices and the Nokia Lumia Series.
According to the firm, some users of the app, especially those outside of Nigeria, hailed the television station's effort in promoting online journalism and bringing the news to their fingertips.
Channels Television has had several national and international recognition, including iEMMY and winning Television Station of The Year for the 7th time in Nigeria, among others.
