Footballer, Adam Johnson Sentenced To Six Years Jail Term

Former English football star Adam Johnson has been jailed for six years after being found guilty of child sex charges.

The former Sunderland and Manchester City winger appeared emotionless on Thursday as he was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court.
The 28-year-old had pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl, whom Judge Jonathan Rose said "suffered severe psychological harm," and another of "grooming" a girl under the age of 16.

Johnson, who played 12 times for England and was fired by Premier League club Sunderland last month, denied two charges of sexual activity with the girl and he was only found guilty of one of them by a jury earlier in March.

During the sentencing, Judge Rose said, "You made a deliberate decision to engage in sexual activity with this young girl, no doubt in the expectation that you would get away with it.
