So in response to the statement issued by current Governor, Akinwummi Ambode over the alleged imposition of Jide Sanwo-Olu to replace him as the APC flag bearer for the Governorship ticket in 2019, the strong man of Lagos politics, and national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu has issued a 21 point agenda on how the Primaries will be conducted in Lagos state.

Read what Asiwaju posted on his Twitter page below:

1. Tomorrow, our party and the people of Lagos will have an encounter with destiny. We shall hold our governorship primary.

2. With the holding of direct primaries to elect governorship candidates in Lagos and other states, the APC takes a groundbreaking step toward greater internal democracy and progressive governance for the benefit of all people.

3. While our party is young, it has grown fast and has travelled far in a short time. This speaks well of the character of you, the party’s rank-and-file members. What, in other nations, has taken political parties generations to achieve, we have done in a few brief years.

4. No other party in Nigeria dare attempt what we have already dedicated ourselves to do. I thank and commend all APC members and all Lagosians who have lent their support to this historic and humane mission upon which our party has embarked.

5. We are democrats in the truest sense of the word. As such, we forever search for what is good and right for the people. With this ideal as our guide, tomorrow’s primary cannot be shaded by selfish ambition or the perceived personal grievance between this or that person.

6. Something much greater waits in the balance. What is at stake is nothing less than the future of the people of this state and how we can best maximise our collective destiny. By resort to direct primaries, the party places the people’s future soundly in their hands.

7. As democracy would have it, you shall be the authors of the party’s nomination and hopefully our next state government. I trust in the wisdom of the people and will abide it. However, as a leader of the party and as a former governor of our beloved and excellent Lagos,

8. I would be remiss if I did not make a few observations regarding the primary. My goal is and shall always be a better Lagos. To this objective, I have dedicated the greater part of my public life.

9. Roughly 20 years ago, a corps of dedicated and patriotic Lagosians, put aside personal interests and rivalries, to put their minds and best ideas together for the good of the state.

10. Out of this collaborative effort, was born a master plan for economic development that would improve the daily lives of our people. Bestowed on me was the honour of a lifetime when I was elected to be your governor in 1999. My administration faithfully implemented that plan.

11. The government of my immediate successor, Tunde Fashola, also honoured this enlightened plan. Where state government remained true to that blueprint, positive things happened.

12. During my tenure and Governor Fashola’s, Lagos state recorded improvements in all aspects of our collective existence, from public health to public sanitation, from education to social services, from the administration of justice to the cleaning of storm and sewage drains.

13. Businesses, large and small, invested, hired millions of workers and thrived. All Lagosians were to fully participate and justly benefit from the social dividends and improvements wrought by this plan.

14. From the common labourer, to business leaders, to professionals and our industrious civil service. We all were to be partners in a monumental but joint enterprise.

15. None was to be alienated. None was to be left out. And none were to be pushed aside. This is especially true for those who contributed so much to our development, whether as a business leader who has invested heavily in Lagos...

16. the homeowner who struggles to pay his fair share of taxes or as someone employed in the hard work of keeping our streets and byways clean so that others may go about their daily tasks unimpeded.

17. I make no pretence that the master plan is perfect. It can always be fine-tuned. However, whenever a government departed from this plan without compelling reason, the state and its people have borne the painful consequence of the improper departure.

18. I am encouraged by the emergence of a candidate in this primary who has served the state in senior positions in my administration, the Fashola administration and even in the current one.

19. While possessing a wealth of experience and exposure, he is a young man endowed with superlative vision and commitment. Most importantly, he understands the importance of the blueprint for development...

20. ...He esteems it as a reliable and well-conceived vehicle for the future development of the state. He also knows the value of reaching out and working with others in order to maximize development and provide people the best leadership possible.

21. We walk into this primary strong and confidently believing in the right course we are to take. We shall emerge from this primary even stronger and more confident that we have taken that course by returning Lagos and our party to their finest path.

Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of Lagos state, says Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his opponent in the race to secure the ticket of the APC in 2019, is not fit.

Addressing a press conference at government house, Alausa, Ikeja, on Sunday, Ambode said Sanwo-Olu was arrested for fraud in the US.

His words:
“We have never responded to the campaign of calumny on social media. We have one family in APC. The aspirant being put up to compete against us is not a fit and proper person to take this job.

I have done everything in the last three and half years to serve people selflessly and to serve the poor.

This particular aspirant is somebody that has been arrested for spending fake dollars in a nightclub in America, and he has been detained for months.

He doesn’t have the competence to do what he is being propelled to do. This is somebody that has gone for rehabilitation before. The records are there at the Gbagada General Hospital. we don’t want to go to far. Our leadership should have a rethink.

I plead with our leaders to have a rethink, It is not about me, it is about the opportunity that APC has.”

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, Dr. Femi Hamzat, has withdrawn from the race.

Hamzat, who spoke during a press conference in Lagos on Saturday, said he took the decision to support the ambition of another aspirant, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He also directed his supporters to cast their votes for Sanwo-Olu during the party’s primary tomorrow.

According to him, he can vouch for Sanwo-Olu’s integrity and personal intelligence.

Sanwo-Olu, who was also at the event, would tomorrow contest the party’s governorship ticket with the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi  Ambode.

Abigail, wife of former Super Eagles striker, Obafemi Martins, has revealed how she feels about the brand new car he bought for former big brother Naija housemate, Khloe.

This is coming after an Instagram user asked how his wife will feel about him buying her a car. Well, here's her response.

Recall that Khloe shared the good news two days ago that Obafemi surprised her with a brand new car.

Aisha Alhassan, Nigeria’s women affairs minister, has resigned her position.

Alhassan, known widely as Mama Taraba, was appointed in 2015 by President Buhari. In a September 29 letter to the president, Ms Alhassan decried her disqualification from contesting for the All Progressives Congress’ governorship ticket in Taraba State, saying the action constituted a grave injustice against her since she paid to purchase the form and had been a loyal member of the party since 2014.

She told the president she decided to resign from the cabinet because the APC has effectively disqualified her from being a minister if the party does not find her fit to be a governorship candidate.

See her resignation letter below...

A suspect among a fraud syndicate which specializes in producing fake foreign currencies busted by the Kwara State Police Command, have disclosed that they only defraud greedy people.

The Police Boss who disclosed that the syndicate specialised in defrauding innocent commuters of their money in exchange for fake foreign currencies,  raised the alarm that fraudsters had devised new means of swindling money out of unsuspecting members of the public, advising people to be wary of the vehicles they boarded.

According to Fafowora, the suspects met their waterloo after they defrauded two victims, Mrs. Adekeye Feyisayo of N1.055m and Bilikis Abdulkareem and five others victims of N3.5m.

“The suspects pretend to be taxi operators and defraud their unsuspecting passengers.  Their operational vehicle, a Mazda 323 with registration number, FUF 646 XA, Kwara taxi colour, has been recovered.”

However on their own part, a suspect Adebayo Akeem, said the gang usually went after greedy people by luring their victims with foreign currencies.

He said, “Those people that have ojukokoro (greedy people) are the ones we collect money from. We have dealt with two people. At times, we connive with the aides of rich people to defraud them.”

The names Olori Ajoke and Tobby Pearl are trending on Twitter after the women fought dirty and nudes were released.
Apparently, Tobby Pearl was having relations with Olori Ajoke's husband and even sent him nudes. Same Tobby had said in the past that she "doesn't do married men".
Olori Ajoke was aware of the affair between her husband and Tobby but kept quiet about it until Tobby came to her tweets to begin dropping subliminal tweets.
Olori Ajoke shared a Tweet saying real women stick to one man and Tobby replied saying:
But the real women's men be dating all the girls. Let me just kpim.
This angered Olori Ajoke, who just had a baby, and she released the nudes Tobby sent to her husband. She also revealed that her husband has been made to pay the price for his infidelity and she doesn't owe him her loyalty anymore. She added that the only people she owes loyalty to are the people who are loyal to her.
Meanwhile, an old tweet shared by Tobby has been released in which she said that if she were ever in a situation where a man's wife releases her nudes, she will continue with the relationship since everything is out there already.

Social media users have reacted to the online spat as can be seen in screenshots below.

Despite the commencement of the indefinite strike action embarked on by the Organised labour, the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Ahmed Idris has restated his commitment to pay salaries of all workers on the Federal Government payroll in spite of the on-going Labour strike.

The AGF gave this commitment today while speaking to Newsmen at the Treasury House in Abuja.

“We have a standing order from Mr. President to pay workers salaries from the 25th of every month, which we have striven hard to fulfill to Nigerian workers and this month will not be an exception” said the AGF.

Ahmed  however said that the payment of salaries cannot be achieved in an atmosphere where the critical stakeholders are not allowed access to their offices. “I must explain that salary payment involves a number of processes that do not begin and end with the OAGF.

There are other critical stakeholders like the Cash Management Department in Ministry of Finance and others who are supposed to do their beat before we can finalise”, Mr Idris said.

“On coming to the office this morning we met the gates of the office locked and wondered how we can keep this promise if we are being locked out of the office. After speaking with the local arm of the Labour in the office on the need to pay salaries, they conceded to allow me and some of my staff in but the Gates are still locked. I therefore appeal to labour to open our gates so that we can have unhindered access to meet their needs”.

The AGF further appealed to the National Leadership of Labour to reconsider their stand on the on-going strike saying that the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari more than ever has demonstrated high commitment towards meeting the welfare of the Nigerian Workers.

He therefore enumerated some of the very salient actions the present Government has so far undertaken to improve the welfare of the workers to include:-

i. the payment of over N50 billion for Promotion arrears from 2012 – 2016;

ii. the approval of another N60 Biilion for the payment of Salary Arrears with effect from 2011 -2016;

iii. the President’s recent approval of N22.68 Billion for the payment of pension Arrears to the retirees of the defunct Nigeria Airways workers which has been outstanding for over 14 years;

iv. the President’s approval of N20 billion to meet ASSU’s demand for infrastructure development in both Federal and State Universities;

v. the Federal Government policy of Non-retrenchment of workers ;

vi. Provision of jobs for the teaming Nigerian unemployed youths, especially: the recruitment of over 10,000 Policemen; recruitment by the Army, Navy and Air force; recruitment by the para-military such as the Fire Service, Immigration, Nigeria Prison Service , Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps;

vii. Appointment into Various Ministries, Departments and Agencies;

viii. the payment of salaries to Federal Government Workers as at when due, as well as promotion of workers as at when due.

A former student of Hillcrest School, Jos, has dragged the school authorities before a Jos Federal High Court, demanding N100m as damages over the `deliberate cancellation’’ of his admission.

The minor, who sued the school through his friend and guardian, Mr Steve Gukas, accused Hillcrest School management of breaching his fundamental human rights to education by denying him the opportunity to continue his studies in the school.

The News Agency of Nigeria reported that joined in the suit are the Registered Trustees of Hillcrest School, Jos, and Mrs Anne Lucasse, the Principal, as 1st and 2nd respondents respectively.

When the case came up before Justice Musa Kurya, the Judge, on Thursday, the minor, through his counsel, Mr Silas Onu, in an Originating Motion, prayed the court to declare the management’s action as “contrary, and in violation of the African Charter on the right and welfare of the child.’’

Onu told the court that the minor was rightly admitted into the school, but that on September 10, 2017, the management “blatantly and illegally cancelled his admission because he was said to have an allergy for nuts.

The school had claimed that they could not manage that allergy.

The lawyer argued that the health challenge of the plaintiff was well known to the school management before the admission since it was captured in the medical report obtained from the Jos University Teaching Hospital.

“Because of the physical and mental torture the minor has suffered as a result of the unlawful, illegal, immoral, discriminating and unjustifiable cancellation of his admission, we are demanding the sum of N100m being general and exemplary damages.

“My Lord, we are urging the court to give a mandatory injunction compelling the respondents, jointly or severally, to immediately pay the said amount to my client,’’ he said.

But the counsel to Hillcrest, Prof. Clement Dakas (SAN), objected to the claims of the minor and challenged the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the matter.

Dakas said Hillcrest School was not a federal institution and could not, therefore, be sued in a Federal High Court, arguing that the case should be dismissed since it was lacking in merit.

“My Lord, I want to point out that the application does not fall under the ambit of this court because Hillcrest School is not a federal institution.

“By law, this court lacks the jurisdiction to hear such an application. I hereby urge the court to dismiss it for lack of merit and with cost against the applicant,” Dakas pleaded.

In response to Dakas’ claim, however, Onu argued that the court had the jurisdiction to hear fundamental human right cases, especially when they affected the African Charter and the right and welfare of a child.

Justice Kurya, after listening to the arguments of the two counsels, adjourned the case till Sepember 28 for ruling on the issue of jurisdiction.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a security guard for allegedly stealing a vehicle belonging to a lawyer, Fatiu Badmus.

The police alleged that the guard, Mohammed Usman, connived with some people to steal Badmus’ Toyota Corolla, valued at N1.6m.

It was gathered that on September 8, 2018, the legal practitioner parked the car in front of his office, where Usman worked as a guard.

Badmus, in his statement to the police, said he brought the vehicle to his office that morning and still sighted it around 8.40pm when he went out to see a movie.

“I returned to my office at 11pm to continue the assignment I planned to deliver to my clients the next day. I saw the car in front of the office when I returned and I confirmed that the doors were locked.

“The next morning, my subordinate, who was sent on an errand, came in and asked me if I sent someone on an errand with my car and I said no. He later told me that my car was not where I parked it again.

“I put my hand inside my pocket and my car key was there. I went outside to check where I parked the car, but it was not there. I quickly called the security guard to ask him about the vehicle only for him to tell me that he saw two guys going away with it and he did not confront them,” he added.

However, Usman told the police that he was praying when he heard a noise outside.

He said, “I was fasting on the day of the incident, so I went in to pray. While I was praying, I heard the noise of some people outside. Because I was praying, I could not come out. It was around 5am when I was asked about the car that I noticed that it was not where it was parked.”

Usman was arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court on two counts of conspiracy and stealing.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The charges read, “That you, Mohammed Usman, and others at large, on September 10, 2018, around 4am at Alausa, Ikeja, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit; stealing, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

“That you, Mohammed Usman, and others at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, did steal a Toyota Corolla Saloon car, gold colour, with number plate, CJ 593 FKJ, valued at N1.6m, property of Fatiu Badmus and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

The magistrate W.A. Salami granted Usman bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till October 3, 2018.

The Management of the Nigerian Prisons Service has dismissed three Junior Prison Officers for alleged grievous security offences.

The Public Relations Officer of the service, Mr Francis Enornore, confirmed their dismissal in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Abuja.

Enorbore named the affected officers as IP Samaila Inusa, PA 11; Jonathan Ibrahim and PA 11, Adamu Jethro, all junior officers of the service.

“This followed the recommendation of the Zonal Disciplinary Committee that found the officers guilty of procuring illicit items such as Indian hemp (cannabis) and other intoxicants for inmates,” he said.

Enobore noted that apart from the illicit items fuelling indiscipline and the health hazard on the inmates, the suspects had been implicated in a number of jailbreaks recorded in the past.

He said that their action jeopardised the security of life and property of innocent personnel and inmates.

“The Controller-General, NPS, Mr Ja’afaru Ahmed, has resolved to ensure that proven cases of indiscipline against any personnel, particularly on offences that are capable of causing a security breach, are promptly treated with appropriate sanctions according to the law.

“While this action is to serve as a deterrent to would-be incorrigible individuals, the Prisons’ boss further warned that stiffer punishment awaited anyone found guilty of compromising standards and good conduct expected of a Correction Officer,” he said.

The Nigeria Air Force has confirmed the death of one of its pilots involved in the F-7Ni aircraft crash in Abuja.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, confirmed this in a statement issued on Friday.

The statement read in part, “It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce that one of the pilots who successfully ejected from one of the F-7Ni aircraft that crashed earlier today has passed on.

“May his soul rest in peace. Additional details on the incident will be communicated,” Daramola said.

Two NAF aircraft had crashed in the Federal Capital Territory when they were performing rehearsals for Nigeria’s 58th Independence Anniversary on Friday.

Jose Mourinho warned Paul Pogba that no player is bigger than Manchester United, but praised the Frenchman’s attitude in training during another week in which tensions escalated between the Portuguese coach and his star midfielder.

Mourinho stripped Pogba of his role as vice-captain on Tuesday and a frosty exchange between the pair was caught on camera at training the next day after United crashed out the League Cup on penalties to Championship side Derby.

Pogba was rested in midweek, but Mourinho was reportedly unhappy about an Instagram video in which Pogba appeared laughing while watching Tuesday’s match at Old Trafford.

However, the club later clarified that it had been uploaded during the match, when the home side had been leading.

For his part, Pogba criticised Mourinho’s tactics for being too negative in a 1-1 draw at home to Wolves on Saturday.

But Mourinho insisted Pogba will return to the starting line-up for this weekend’s Premier League trip to West Ham.

“He’s a player like the others. No player is bigger than the club and, if I’m happy with his work, he plays, if I’m not happy, he doesn’t play.

“I’m happy with his work this week, really happy. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday especially because today was not so significant. He trained really well.

“The team needs good players, players with personality to play; he has that and he plays tomorrow.”

When pressed on his relationship with Pogba, Mourinho expressed frustration that television cameras had picked up their training ground conversation.

“It is a good relationship, player and manager,” he said. “I cannot tell you (what was said).

“The training session was open, you had some cameras with some potential to get some of the words. Maybe you have to change the potential if you want to know everything that is said because I’m not going to comment.”

And Mourinho insisted that his decision to take the vice-captaincy away from Pogba was not made in the heat of the moment after his outspoken reaction to the draw against Wolves, but after extensive consultation with his staff.

“I explained in detail to the people that have to know in detail, which is the squad and especially Paul.

“I always analyse a player as a player -– and when a player is captain, I analyse the player from both the player and captain perspective.

“After weeks of analysing and exchanging opinions with my coaching staff we made the decision Paul is just a  player and not a captain.

“The decision was made, I informed the player and the players and when I was asked before the match on Tuesday I confirmed it and now I confirm (it again) and now it is the end of the story.”

Fresh report has it that is tension in Jos, the Plateau State Capital following the killing of 14 persons by unknown gunmen on Thursday night along Rukubu Road.

Among those killed were nine members of a family and while five others were also killed.

The gunmen were said to have invaded the Rukubu Road community linking the Rukuba Barracks at about 8 pm, local time, shooting at random.

According to reports, people are running away from Terminus Market back home for safety as the community has been enveloped by grief and anger.

It was also gathered that the military has taken over strategic areas of the town to prevent further crisis/reprisal attack.

There was commotion in Akute Odo, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, after a 62-year-old man, identified only as Wadada, allegedly defiled a five-year-old girl.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim, who stayed with her mother in a church, had gone to fetch water at the suspect’s borehole, when she was defiled.

He was alleged to have pacified her with N20.

The victim’s mother, upon seeing the money, reportedly queried how she came about it and she confessed that it was given to her by the suspect after defiling her.

Wadada was reportedly seized by some angry residents, who dragged him before the traditional ruler of the community.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim’s mother was asked to allow the community handle the case.

He added that the single mother was threatened with eviction from her church abode if she went public with the matter or reported to the police.

The resident noted that the suspect had been caught many times in the past for a similar offence.

He said, “The girl’s father is late. She stays with her mother in a church in the neighbourhood. The man has a borehole around the church, where he sells water to people.

“The girl was sent on an errand when he lured her on Friday. He inserted his fingers into her private parts and broke her hymen, as blood gushed out. He tried to use a piece of cloth to clean up the blood and gave her N20.

“When she returned home, her mother saw the money and asked where she got it from. She said Wadada gave her. She asked what she did for him to warrant such a kind gesture. She did not want to talk initially, but later opened up. Her mother opened her pants and found bloodstains in her private parts.”

The source said when the suspect was challenged, he owned up to the crime.

He was allegedly taken before the traditional ruler of the community.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim’s mother was asked not to inform the police, as she also confessed helplessness over lack of funds.

A source alleged that Wadada, who hailed from Ogun State, was a serial child molester, adding that he was protected by the community because he was a native.

“The last time he was caught, he was asked to sign an undertaking that if he was caught again, he would be banished from the community and he would forfeit his property.

“So, when he was caught this time, the community appeared to be more interested in banishing him and selling off his property than giving the victim justice and maybe compensation.

“The community leaders have been telling the mother to allow them handle it the traditional way. The woman also agreed because she did not know the implication of what the man did to her daughter,” the source added.

Some residents were reported to have counselled the mother and assisted her with transport fare to the nearest police station.

Our correspondent gathered that there were pressures on the police to drop the case against the suspect.

A rights lawyer, Okere Onyekachi, said he spoke with the Divisional Crime Officer and the Investigating Police Officer, adding that they assured him that justice would be done.

He said, “The IPO told me that they would not drop the case because they also got information that it was the eighth time that he would be committing the offence.

“I told them that the offence was against the state and they should not allow anything to sway them from the path of justice. The police said they would do their best because they even foot the bills for the medical tests.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Efforts to get the state police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, to react to the story since on Monday were abortive.

He had also yet to respond to enquiries on the incident on Thursday.

But the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the case, saying it had been transferred to the SCIID, Eleweran.

“We learnt that it was not his first time, although the previous cases were not reported to the police. He usually tricked his victims with small things. We will ensure justice is served. The case has been transferred to the SCIID, Eleweran,” she added.

A manhunt has been launched for a young man who allegedly absconded with N1.5 million which he was given to pay in the bank in Sapele area of Delta state. The suspect identified as Persia Flamez on Facebook, worked as a fuel attendant at Recenbo filling Station located in Sapele.

It was gathered that the station manager gave him the sum of N1.5 million to pay in the bank some days ago and till now, he is yet to be seen, according to an online report.

His phone has been switched off.

The case has been reported at a police station as the officers said they would arrest the person who stood as his guarantor for further investigations.

Here are pictures of the suspect.

The Federal Government has declared Monday, Oct. 1 as public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 58th Independence Anniversary.

The federal government made the declaration in a statement issued by the Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, on Thursday in Abuja.

The statement was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Mohammed Umar.

Dambazau, who congratulated Nigerians on the anniversary, urged them to sustain President Muhammadu Buhari Administration’s efforts at maintaining and strengthening the unity and peace of the country.

He emphasised government’s commitment to promoting national unity, economic growth, social and political development based on democratic principles.

The minister added that in the past 58 years, Nigeria had made a lot of progress and positive impact not only on the lives of its citizens but also on infrastructure development as well as international relations.

24-year-old postgraduate student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has accused a man, Adesoji Orenowo, of raping her in his house at European Quarters, Meiran, Lagos. Punch reports.

The FUNAAB postgraduate student in her statement to the police, said she agreed to spend the night at Orenowo’s house because she trusted him.

She said, “The reason I visited him was to know him more after we met in December 2017. He told me that he was always busy at work and if I were free during the weekend, we could hook up. He sent me N3,000 for transport fare. That was the first time he would send money to me.

“When I got to his place, I slept there because I met his uncle and the uncle’s wife with some cousins, who welcomed me. Though I was still uncomfortable and was contemplating on going back home, his uncle’s wife said I was safe.

“Around 10pm, I went to sleep in the room provided for me, which was opposite his uncle’s room. Around 2.30am, I saw Orenowo beside me; he was touching and harassing me. I suddenly stood up and went to the passage. Fortunately, his uncle came out to urinate and saw me reading the Bible with the torchlight of my phone. I went to sit in the sitting room.

“Orenowo came and suddenly dragged me from the sitting room through the passage into the room. While hitting my head on the wall, he held my neck. I called for help, but his uncle did not come out.

“He (Orenowo) almost strangled me, saying if I said anything, he would kill me and nobody would trace me. I received a lot of punches and slaps. He stripped me Unclad and threatened to tie me to the bed if I did not cooperate with him. He penetrated me through the anus and private parts.”

The victim said she reported the incident to Orenowo’s uncle and left the house for a hospital.

Orenowo, however, denied the allegation, saying he did not sleep with his guest after she turned down his advances.

He said, “While I was touching her after we had retired to bed, she told me not to touch her that she was in a fasting and prayer programme. She took the Bible on my bed and left the room.

“When she later came back from the sitting room, we started romancing each other and she insisted that she did not want to have sex and I left her to sleep.”

Orenowo was arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court on one count of sexual assault.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, Mr P.E. Nwaka, ordered that the suspect be remanded in prison.
