Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High court sitting in Lagos today Monday October 21st, ordered the temporary forfeiture of two properties in the Ikoyi area of Lagos state linked to immediate past Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The EFCC had filed a petition before the court seeking the temporary forteiture of the properties located on 17B McDonald road Ikoyi, which they claimed are proceeds of ''unlawful activities''.
Part of the reliefs sought by the EFCC included “An order of this honourable Court forfeiting to the Federal Government of Nigeria landed property with appurtenances situate, lying and known as No. 17A McDonald Road, Ikoyi, Eti Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State found and recovered from the respondent which property is reasonably suspected to have been acquired with proceeds of unlawful activity”.
The antigraft agency is currently investigating Saraki for misappropriation of funds while he was governor of Kwara state from 2003 to 2011.
