Ebola Outbreak In Congo

An outbreak of a deadly disease, EBOLA has been declared in the northeast Democratic Republic of Congo, the World Health Organization has said.

According to the WHO's twitter account, the killer disease was confirmed in Kinshasa on the 11th of May, 2017.

The organization also pointed out that it is working with the government of Congo in order to control the disease before it spreads.

"On 11 May 2017, the Min of Health of the Democratic Republic of the Congo notified WHO & partners of a lab-confirmed case of #Ebola"

"The #Ebola case in the Democratic Republic of Congo was confirmed by a national reference laboratory in Kinshasa"

"Important to trace people who have contact with the confirmed #Ebola case in the Democratic Rep. of Congo to stop the disease from spreading"

"Dr Matshidiso Moeti, Director of @WHOAFRO, will arrive in Kinshasa, #DRC, this weekend for a coordination meeting w/ the Ministry of Health" the WHO tweeted.

The last Ebola outbreak in Congo in 2014 was quickly contained and killed 49 people according to official figures, AFP reports.
