2013/2014 Barclays Premier League Season Begins Today

The new 2013/2014 season of the Barclays Premier League begins today, Saturday, 17 August, 2013.

Finally the wait is over, movements here and there, by managers and players alike. Big ambitions from club sides, rebel among some disgruntled players. The Barclays Premier League season can't start off on a better note than this.

Defending champions, Manchester United begin their season with a new manager in David Moyes and a new breath of fresh air, when they travel to Swansea City later today in the late kick-off.

Chelsea, with new manager, Jose Mourinho begins his return to English football with a home game against new-comers, Hull City Tigers on Sunday.

Liverpool who have endured a somewhat tumultus pre-season so far marred with the Luis Suarez-go-or-wouldn't-go controversy, start off in the first game of the season with a home game against Stoke City in the lunch-time kick-off.

Arsenal, who narrowly escaped finishing outside the top 4 last season, begin their season with a home game against a rejuvenated Aston Villa side on Saturday afternoon.

Money spinners, Manchester City begins life in the 2013/2014 season with a new manager, and a couple of new players, when they host Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium on Monday.

Tottenham, who have refused to be moved by the Gareth Bale-Real Madrid saga, also armed with a couple of players, begin the season with a tricky trip to new-comers, Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The season promises to be an exciting one with several changes at managerial level and several players moving in and out of clubs.

One can only grab a plate of pepper-soup and a chilled bottle of beer to savour all the games today.
