The rehabilitated Abuja National Stadium main bowl will be handed over to the National Sports Commission (NSC) on Sept. 17, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu, the Director, Stadia and Facilities, National Sports Commission (NSC), disclosed this on Friday in Abuja in an interview with NAN.
"Arrangements have been concluded for the official handing over ceremony.
"We will brief the media on Monday on our plans for the ceremony,'' he said.
Shehu said that Julius Berger Plc, the contractors, which handled the project, met the stipulated time frame for the renovation.
He, however, said that the handover was being delayed to enable the NSC conclude all the necessary arrangements for the event.
Shehu said that the contractors would be entrusted with the responsibility of managing the pitch for six months after the official handover.
He said that the contractors had also trained some members of staff of the commission on the maintenance of the lawns, as part of efforts to keep the stadium clean.
