Three NYSC Members Arrested For Selling Election Materials

Three members of the National Youth Service Corps, who served as ad hoc personnel during the April 11, 2015 House of Assembly election in Edo State, have been arrested for allegedly selling ballot papers and other sensitive materials.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mr. Mike Igini, said this in Benin, the Edo State capital, while reviewing the 2015 polls in the state.
He said the suspects had allegedly sold two packets of the ballot electoral materials for N40,000 before they were apprehended.
While describing their offences as severe, he said they would be made to face the wrath of the law.
The REC also noted that two members of staff of the commission who could not account for election materials entrusted to them had been suspended and awaiting the outcome of ongoing investigations.
Igini said, “The ongoing investigations are to determine whether their act was deliberate or out of sheer negligence”
“With respect to the NYSC members, they were given ballot papers of which they sold two packets and were nabbed.”
