"At 25, I Made My First Million"- Jeweler Alexander Amosu

Renowned Jeweler Alexander Amosu recently shared this inspiring message on photo sharing social networking site Instagram. Amosu said:
"At the age of 25 I made my first £million. From having zero in my bank account to getting several zeros. A lot of ppl will be gassed by this picture, the truth is if they only knew what I want through to get here they may not find it so glamorous. Blood, sweat, tears, late nights, no friends, no social life, working 3 jobsno one believing in me, several failed business and flat out broke. Am not showing you this picture because I think it's cool, am merely letting you know the journey is a lot harder than this one picture however it's worth it!" He wrote.

Every successful person has a story, nothing good ever comes easy. The key is to persist and persevere, and trust Gods timing for your live. You're closer than you think. Your time will come.

Let me share with you an interesting story.

Some years ago, during my early Unilag days, I was working with some upcoming artists. One of the acts I was working with-Silly had a new single. So we decided to have a single listening party/birthday shindig for him at the then 11:45 or (was it Reloaded then) night club. The act I was managing had a friend who was very passionate about music, very talented and charismatic too. He was however barely a adult, and still a little small in frame, even his family was very reluctant about letting him veer into  music.

The day of the single listening party came and some how, Silly's friend was able to convince his family to let him attend the event with us. We got to the event, but the Bouncers said Silly's friend couldn't enter the club, he was underage. But in truth he wasn't, he just had a small frame. We pleaded, begged did everything to prove that he wasn't legally underage, Bouncers no gree. We then involved the Manager of the club, late Hakeem Sodeinde. He came out, looked at Silly's friend and said even if he was not underage, he just was too small to enter the club.

I looked at Ayo(thats what I called him, and saw the sadness and disappointment in his eyes). He tried to mask it by quickly, volunteering that he would wait in the car while we went in because Silly had to do his thing. I felt bad, especially seeing people who were clearly underage paying to enter V.I.P without been questioned, and here we were helpless. If we probably had a lot of money, or any of them were known, his frame or stature wouldn't have mattered.

The rest of us there for Silly went into the club but the outing was a terrible one. We had to keep coming out to check on Ayo, and we eventually had to leave. Silly didn't even get to perform his single as planned.

Ayo felt terrible that night, and I'm sure he wondered if he would ever make it, or if a time would come that he wouldn't need to introduce himself, stature or not.

Today, Ayo is known to you all as Wizkid, but certainly taller...lol. I bet there is no club in Nigeria today that wouldn't beg to host him. Ayo is no doubt lucky, because it didn't take so long for him to make it, perhaps even beyond his expectation. But what about Armancio Ortega? The 79 year old billionaire behind Zara who had very humble beginnings and didn't even get to start Zara until he was 40? He recently over threw Bill Gates to become world's richest man for about 24 hours. What about President Buhari, who has been trying to become President since Nigeria returned to Democracy in 1999? The list of people we can draw inspiration from is endless.

What I'm basically saying with all these is that you should ALWAYS believe in your self, even if no one else does. Some of life's toughest battles are fought alone. If you have God, you can face an entire army, he is more than enough.

Another important thing is that you must ALWAYS trust God's timing for your life and persevere. God is perfect and never makes mistakes. He knows when you're ripe for success and the breakthrough you need. Sometimes, he makes us go through some of the hardest things to shape us into becoming the best we can be. Remember diamonds?

I have my moments but Ive always managed to shake off doubts because I live by these principles. You should too. Never doubt that you will make it, the only uncertainty should be the time.

Remain hopeful.
