Doyin Okupe Got It Wrong When He Said Late Dr Adadevoh Can Not Be Given National Honours Posthumously

The Senior Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, says the non inclusion of the name of Dr Stella Adadevoh in the recently Honours' list by the government was beyond the government.

In a tweet, he said: "I received enquiries as to why Dr. Stella Adadevoh was not included in the
honours' list. By the law establishing it, national honours cannot be given post-humously."

Dr Okupe definitely got his facts
wrong.

Just last year (2013),human right lawyer Gani Fawehinmi, Afrobeat creator Fela Anikulapo Kuti and winner of the annulled Presidential election Moshood Abiola were all
given National award post-humously.

It will be recalled that their families refused to accept their awards last year.
