Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, says henceforth, bills before the Assembly would be displayed on the Internet to allow for public view and enhance contribution to the process of lawmaking in the state.
A statement by the Assembly on Monday said the Speaker spoke while delivering a keynote address during a one-day public hearing on a bill for a law to provide access to public records and information.
Ikuforiji said the bill was important because it would allow information to be provided in every instance while anybody who or distorts information, should be ready to face the consequence.
He said, "The leadership of the House attached much importance to the bill because the public must be allowed to have access to information."
Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy, Mr. Segun Olulade, described the FOI bill as the boldest and most revolutionary step by any administration in the fight against corruption.
