Super Eagles Of Nigeria Play Mexico 2am Saturday Morning In An International Friendly Match

African champions Nigeria will clash with Mexico in a high-profile friendly in Houston, Texas, USA today Friday, May 31, 2013.

"The Nigeria Football Federation and its Match Agent, Eurodata Sport Marketing Sportivo e Culturale, are pleased to announce that the Super Eagles will play against Mexico's Senior Team in a friendly match at the Reliant Stadium, Houston, Texas on Friday, May 31, starting from 9pm Texas time," NFF general secretary Musa Amadu said.

He added: "We are pleased that the reigning African champions will have such high-quality final preparation for the important games that we have in the month of June."

The last time both countries met was in a battling friendly inside the Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez in Chihuahua, Mexico in October 2007 – it ended in a 2-2 draw.

The Super Eagles, currently top of their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying group, take on Kenya's Harambee Stars in Nairobi on June 8 before travelling to the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Then, another FIFA World Cup qualifying date against Namibia's Brave Warriors awaits in Windhoek.

In Brazil, the Eagles play against Tahiti, Uruguay and World and European champions Spain while the Mexicans clash with host Brazil, Italy and Japan in Group A.

The match in Texas will be the third of a five-match American tour for the Mexicans, who also face daunting dates in CONCACAF's 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying race in June.
