Security Guard Commits Suicide In Church

A 67-year-old security guard was confirmed dead on Monday after he reportedly committed suicide in a church in Ogun State.

Matthew Isidahume hung himself in the Holy Trinity Anglican Church where he worked at Ago-Ika in Abeokuta.

Church members discovered his lifeless body the following morning as they gathered for prayer.

According to reports, a member of the Church Council, Adekunle Adegoke, said members who came for the Morning Prayer meeting, met the gate locked and had to wait for about 30 minutes thinking the late Isidahume had gone to the toilet.

After waiting for a while, they decided to lift a young boy over the fence to go fetch him but he returned with the horrific news that the night guard had hanged himself.

"If you look closely you will see his footprints on the generator which showed that he climbed, tied  something on his neck and then jumped," he said.

The Punch reports:

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said three of the night guards were supposed to be on duty as of the time the incident happened.

Adejobi, a deputy superintendent of police, further stated that the deceased left a suicide note which was now assisting the police in their investigation. He added that the command would do a thorough job in order to get to the root of the matter.
