Nimota Oriola is reportedly being held at a local psychiatric centre at Iro, via Papalanto in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State after she was alleged to have practically bitten off her husband's genitals.
Nimota has been married to Akibu Oriola, her husband, in the last seven years but their marriage is reportedly not yet blessed with a child. Nimota, 35, said to be the third wife of Oriola, does not live with her husband but lives alone at Ifo area of Ogun State.
Oriola, a commercial taxi driver, however, lives with his two wives in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. Oriola reportedly comes to pass the weekend at the two-room apartment he rented for Nimota at Ifo, and goes back to his two wives and seven children in Abeokuta on Monday.
Nimota and her husband were said to have adopted this method since their coming together in 2006. But the union of the two hit the rocks recently when Nimota turned her husband's manhood to a chewing stick and almost cutting it into two.
Trouble started between Nimota and her husband sometime last March when Oriola failed to show up at his third wife's residence for almost three months.
It was reported that Oriola had only shown face at Nimota's house twice since January until May this year. During the period he did not come to Ifo to see her, Nimota tried all she could to persuade him on phone on numerous occasions to come see her but he kept promising that he would come, but never showed up.
But on Sunday, 26 May, 2013, Oriola seemingly reluctantly showed up at his wife house unannounced. Eyewitnesses say the day Oriola showed up at his Nimota's house, the woman never had any premonition that her husband was coming having not seen him there for nearly half a year.
It was reported that when Oriola got to his wife's apartment, the doors were securely locked since the woman lives alone. That was when Oriola called his wife's phone informing her that he was waiting for her at home. Nimota reportedly rushed back home from wherever she was to meet her husband waiting in his taxi outside the building.
When she returned home barely three minutes after her husband called her, she reportedly walked pass him without exchanging any pleasantries as obtained in the past.
Moments later, Oriola reportedly joined his wife in the room and a heated argument ensued. An eyewitness, Mummy Lawal, told reporters that when the voices of the couple became raised, some co-tenants tried to intervene, but the doors to Nimota's apartment were securely locked.
Narrating the events that followed the raised voices, Mummy Lawal continued:
"The man (Oriola) is well known to all of us in the compound as Aunty Nimota's husband. But for some months now, he had not come to see her and the wife had tried all her best to locate him but to no avail.
"On the said day, however, the man drove his car into the front of the house and came down to greet those of us outside. He was explaining that his absence from our house was because he was away from the state. But when the wife came moments after he arrived, the two of them entered inside and before long, we started hearing noise from the room.
"When we realised that the noise was getting louder, my husband knocked at their door hoping to intervene and make peace but the doors were locked.
It was not up to five minutes that we heard a loud scream of the man. Everyone around rushed towards the rooms but the doors were still locked. But the man continued to cry for help. That made the men to break the down the door and behold they found that Aunty Nimota had bit her husband manhood almost cutting it into two."
According to Braimoh, another neighbour, Oriola had to be rushed out of the room while Nimota, also bleeding, was stark naked in the room apparently wriggling in pains as a result of the beating her husband gave her. He continued: "When we broke the door, we saw the two of them on the floor.
The wife was naked and there were marks all round her body while the man was also wriggling in pains and in the pool of his own blood holding his manhood which the woman bit."
He claimed that the woman managed to tell them that her husband wanted to have sex with her but she would not allow him and that resulted in a fight.
Braimoh told reporters that the woman soon began to misbehave as if she had lost her senses, which necessitated some neighbours taking her to a traditional psychiatric centre at Iro, close by.
