Dana Air's Operators Licence Revoked

News just filtering in has it that the Air Operators Certificate (AOC) of Dana Air has been revoked by the Federal Government.
The revocation is not unconnected to the recommendations made by the National Assembly after the investigations into the cause of the June 3rd, 2012 crash of an MD 83 aircraft belonging to Dana Air at Iju/Ishaga area of Lagos State which claimed over 163 lives on board the plane and on the ground.
The Senate and the House of Representatives, both earlier in the year passed a resolution asking the Federal Government to revoke the operating licence of Dana Air and to remove the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), based on the report of the committee that investigated the crash.
It appears the Federal Government have implemented both resolutions of the National Assembly. Last week, the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Dr Harold Demurin was relieved of his appointment.
A top official in the NCAA who spoke on a condition of anonymity confirmed the withdrawal of Dana Air's AOC.
