Abah was docked on a two count criminal charge bordering on criminal breach of trust, conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence.
He was said to have between August 2008 and March 2009, obtained the sum of $ 48,500 from one Udeh Orokpo Godwin under the guise of setting up a joint company but diverted the funds to personal use.
The offence according to the EFCC is contrary to section 311 of the Penal Code and punishable under section 312 of the same Code
However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defence counsel, Abel C Ozioko told the court that the EFCC had previously granted administrative bail to the accused person on self recognition.
Stressing that it was his client voluntarily submitted himself for trial yesterday, Ozioko, urged the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.
Nevertheless, the prosecution counsel Mr Sukuji Bandawa opposed the bail application on the grounds that he was just served with the bail application and would need time to respond.
Consequently, Justice Olasumbo Olarenwaju Goodluck adjourned ruling on the bail application to June 4, just as he fixed July 11 and 16 for commencement of trial.
