Four Persons Missing As Car Plunges Into River

Four persons are believed to have perished as a Toyota Hilux truck plunges into the Majidun River in Ikorodu area of Lagos State this morning.

The truck with registration number KS918AU belonging to the Ikoyi Golf Club in Lagos has been recovered, but the passengers of the vehicle are still missing.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), is leading security agencies and local divers to conduct a search and rescue operation.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was said to have been driven by the Golf Club Manager, Kolawole Ahmed, who was heading home after closing from work around 5am this morning.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Safety Services, Razak Fadipe, who confirmed the incident said the truck had veered off the road before plunging into the river at about 6am.

"We have brought the vehicle out of the river, but we are still searching for the occupants.
"We have been told by eyewitnesses that the truck was on a high speed when it plunged into the river," he said.
