The Venezuela government has moved to appoint Olympic pin-up female fencer, Alejandra Benitez as the country's new Minister of Sports.
She made history by becoming the country's first ever female minister.
The 32 year-old who fenced for Venezuela during the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics, was revealed by President Nicolas Maduro's as the new Sports Minister at the weekend.
Sharing her delight at the appointment, Alejandra wrote on her Twitter page: "Today starts a new challenge and I will assume that challenge with the same commitment as an athlete who defends his homeland at all costs."
