Remembering Dagrin!!!

Today, Monday April 22, 2013, marks three years since the death of popular Nigerian rapper, Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun a.k.a Dagrin.

Dagrin died on April 22, 2010, after sustaining injuries in a ghastly accident in front of Alakara Police Station, Off Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos.

The late rapper's car, a Nissan Maxima 2008 model ran into a parked lorry in front of Alakara Police Station, Mushin. He was initially admitted at Tai Solarin Hospital, Mushin, before later being transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, where doctors battled to save his life.

After several operations were carried out on him, Dagrin finally gave up the ghost.

Three years gone by, things seem to have changed, Dagrin's death suddenly inspired a whole lot of rappers to hit the studio, rapping in Yoruba language. We now have the likes of Olamide, Tipsy, BaseOne, Jhybo, Seriki, obviously inspired by the general himself, 'Barack O'grin'.

Dagrin toiled and toiled, touched the tip of success and was going for the 'kill' only to lose it all in the most shocking of ways.
