Gunmen Bomb Hafiz Ringim's House In Jigawa

Suspected gunmen on Sunday bombed many places in Ringim town in the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Eyewitnesses told NAN the incident happened around 8.45pm.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP. Audu Jinjinri confirmed the incident to NAN in an interview in the state capital, Dutse.

"Nobody can, for now, say anything about the person responsible for the bombing," he said.
Jinjinri however explained that the incident had created serious tension in the town.
"A detachment of mobile policemen has been dispatched to the area to restore peace," he said.

The PPRO promised that the police would continue to ensure the protection of lives and property of innocent citizens in the state in the course of maintaining peace and order.

Places torched by the gunmen's fire, according to reliable sources include the former Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim's house, the Divisional Police Command and some other houses.
