Chukwu allegedly collected N100,000 marked notes from the office of Mohammed as part of a N500,000 bribe he demanded in a case being handled by his office.
It was gathered that Chukwu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, had been given an initial N400,000 bribe after threatening to ensure that those involved in a land case were sent to jail.
He, however, insisted on collecting another N100,000 to make the money N500,000.
But when the issue was mentioned to a friend of Mohammed, he intimated the IGP about the development.
Mohammed was said to had arranged for the marked N100,000 bills in conjunction with a Deputy Inspector General of Police.
Chukwu has since been moved out of the Force Headquarters for further interrogation, based on the directives of the IGP.
