A 21-year-old female graduate of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu, Lagos State, simple identified as Nofisat, was raped and slaughtered by unknown assailants in her home.
Nofisat had graduated with other final year students of the institution on April 27, making her family proud, but their joy was short-lived as she was brutally raped and murdered just three days after her graduation.
From information gathered, Nofisat, who resides at Magbon area of Ogijo in Ogun State, was said to be the only one at home, as her mother, a school teacher and her siblings had all gone to school.
Neighbours said the victim's mother came back from school and saw her naked in the pool of her own blood as the rapists were also said to have slit her throat.
The police in Ogun State have arrested two men who reside in the premises in connection with the brutal murder.
However, a postmortem examination that will help the police in their investigation has been frustrated as the victim's remains have since been buried according to Islamic rites at the Alaba Muslim Cemetery, Ogijo at about 3pm on Thursday.
