Jay-Z Announces Surprise New Album 'Magna Carter Holy Grail'

Jay-Z has announced details of a new album, which will be released in less than a month.

The rapper broadcast the news via an advert during Game 5 of the NBA Finals last night (June 16). Titled 'Magna Carta Holy Grail', the rapper's 12th studio album will be released on July 4. The three-minute promo for Samsung shows Jay-Z working in the studio with Rick Rubin, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland and talking about making music in the modern world.

"We don't have any rules, everybody is trying to figure it out," he says in a clip. "That's why the internet is like the Wild West. The Wild Wild West. We need to write the new rules." He adds: "The album is about this duality of how do you navigate your way through this whole thing, through success and through failures, and remain yourself?"

According to the album's website, "http://www.magnacartaholygrail.com/", Samsung Galaxy users will be able to get the album 72 hours before its release via a customized app.

Earlier this month, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Nas and Timbaland were photographed working together in the recording studio. Roc Nation executive Lenny S posted the image above on his Instagram page on (June 5) with the following caption: "JAY x JT x NAS x TIMBO Rat Pack shit. For some this is "Work"... For us it's just Fun. #RocNation."
